Tonya, Elsa and Mark are students at SAR Senior High School in New York City. It's a school with regular academic(学术的)classes, but it also gives special attention to the performing arts. Tonya likes dancing, Elsa wants to be an artist and Mark is a singer.

Students at SAR can also do many sports. For example, they can play basketball, tennis, volleyball and soccer. Students practice them after school. They compete against other high schools. Mark says, "At school, I study by myself. I'm a singer, and I do that alone, too. That's why I like playing on the basketball team. We work together and compete against other teams. "

SAR offers various great classes, clubs and sports to students. Students at SAR get a good education and they also develop their own interests. Many SAR students become dancers, singers and actors!

It was the early 1950s, and I was a member of the A class at Armidale Senior High School in norther New South Wales. 

In the second and third years we all did General Maths, and our teacher was Mrs Lindsay-Clare Lindsay. Her arrival at our classroom was always quick, "Good morning everyone!" Then our books would be out, and we would watch her closely. 

I've thought a lot about Clare Lindsay over the years. What was her special magic? There are two reasons and I think they're necessary for all excellent teachers. She loved her subject, and she loved us, in a patient and objective way. She had no favorites that I can remember, and she called us all by our first names pleasantly She had a way of teaching that I loved. 

"Now we could go down this path couldn't we? We could argue this, and then this, but that doesn't work because of this. No Can Do(NCD)!" She would put a big cross, and write" NCD" against what she had put down. "Right! Why not go down this new path?" And she would show us that this new way worked. It was fun. We, whether the poor students or the skilled, all did well because of her. I've never found maths difficult, and I_put_that_skill_down_to_her. 

In the fourth and fifth years,we were divided into the science and arts streams(按学生能力划分的班级), and Mrs Lindsay didn't teach us any more. But as the Leaving Certificate exams were coming, one of my friends became nervous about how much maths he didn't know. With great courage, he went to see Mrs Lindsay, and asked if she would help him prepare for his General Maths paper. "Of course!" she said, and did just that, after school, in her own time. He passed. What a good teacher!

Lisa, who (graduate)from our school last June, is about 2. (go)to college in New York. She came to share her suggestions for high school  us. Lisa said Orientation Day was really (help)when she first started high school because it could help students to get to know the school and the other  (student). Though Lisa was a member of the school volleyball team, she wasn't selected for the end-of-year (compete). At first, she was really sad, later she realized that she joined the team for the love of the sport. It wasn't just about winning. So she kept (work)hard to support her teammates during their training. Lisa (total)agreed with the wonderful words from the writer Maya Angelou-Be a rainbow in somebody else's cloud. So she suggested that we give our friends hand when they can make us feel needed it. And this good, too.

One easy approach to stick to your diet when eating out is starting with a soup. This will keep you from sitting hungry and filling you up.A soup is the first course that you order when eating out.

Salt improves food's flavour and is often used heavily in restaurant meals.When you dine out,ask the attendant to prepare food without added salt.Ask about the ingredients to see if there are items that may be higher in salt.Moreover,it is better to limit the use of condiments(调料)such as mustard,ketchup,pickle and sauces as they may contain salt that you don't need.Instead of salty appetisers(开胃小吃),choose fruit and vegetable salad.

Don't eat it all.

 To avoid overeating,you can split a meal with a companion or put half the meal in a plate and leave the rest.

Sticking to a healthy diet doesn't mean you have to turn down everyone's offer when asked to eat out.

 (sit) back in my seat, I can't believe that I'm about to travel along the railway that many foreign experts claimed was "impossible". The train has been racing along  (steady) since it left Xining.

I was one of the people  came from all parts of China to work on this railway. Taking years to complete, the Qinghai Tibet Railway is a record of all of our efforts to overcome  most difficult challenges. How  (protect) the ecosystem was among the top concerns. The first landmark  (catch) my eye is the Qingshuihe Bridge, the world's longest bridge built over permafrost. To prevent damage to wetlands and grasslands, 675 bridges  (build) between Golmud and Lhasa.

Tanggula Station,  (locate) at over 5,000 metres above sea level, is the highest railway station in the world. To make sure we stayed healthy, several oxygenmaking stations were constructed. Passing Cuona Lake, I feel a sense of pride and  (achieve). Along the lake we built a twentykilometre wall to protect the lake  construction waste.

I'm proud that we built our "impossible"railway. It truly is an extraordinary "Sky Railway"．
