A company run by Google, called DeepMind, has found a way to predict diseases in people using artificial intelligence(AI). This is the name given to a computer system that can "think" for itself and perform tasks that usually require human intelligence such as problem-solving and decision-making.

Google DeepMind is an AI company that works with scientists, engineers and researchers to solve difficult challenges using technology. They say their aim is to advance science and benefit humanity, and their research includes finding ways to use technology to identify and treat diseases. 

DeepMind's new software, AlphaMissense, works by looking at DNA. This is a chemical found in all animals and plants that carries information about every living thing's appearance and characteristics.

DNA is made up of four chemical "bases". These are known as A, T, G and C. The order that these bases are arranged in is very important, because it provides the instructions for how a life-form will develop. If the bases aren't in the right order, this can create something called missense mutations（突变）. These are mostly harmless, but in some cases they lead to diseases, including sickle cell disease, which affects people's blood, and cystic fibrosis, which affects lungs and digestive(消化的） systems.

There are millions of possible missense mutations. Scientists had only classified (归类) 0.1% of these as either benign or potentially (潜在的) disease-causing. However, the AlphaMissense software has now classified an impressive 89% of them. The DeepMind team have shared their findings in the hope that it will help doctors and scientists spot disease-causing mutations and start treating people sooner. 

Genomics England (GE), a company that works with the NHS to analyse people's DNA, has already tested the software. Dr Ellen Thomas, from GE, said it will help scientists "make sense of genetic data", so that patients can get better treatments.

The city of San Francisco, California, is known as a city that loves food. There are many award-winning restaurants. San Francisco is also a city that loves dogs. So, dog owner and chef Rahmi Massarweh decided to combine his two loves into one. He has opened the first and only restaurant for dogs. The restaurant is called Dogue. The name is like the word "vogue", which means "fashion". It opened in September in the city's popular Mission District.

Individual dishes cost around $30. Or, for $75 each, dogs can dine on a multi- course "bone appetite" meal. Some people are expressing their opinions about the costly menu. But Massarweh has received a lot of support from his customers. They are thankful to have a place to treat their furry friends. Recently, Dogue held three dog birthday parties at the same time.

Gledy Espinoza is the owner of Mason, an 11-year-old miniature dachshund (迷你腊肠犬). Mason enjoyed some mushroom soup with pieces of chicken. "I wanted to celebrate for him. He is so special to me. He's my four-legged child and this is the perfect place to have a really nice celebration. We're foodies (吃货). I guess he is too, now," Espinoza said.

Massarweh uses costly ingredients (材料) to prepare his food. Everything he makes could be eaten safely by humans, but we probably would not like it. The dog dishes may taste flavorless to us. Dogue's goal is to spread the idea of feeding dogs fresh, healthy, and natural food. Some research shows that natural food may be better for a dog's stomach than the dog food that you can buy in a store.

Next, Lisbon ranked in second place – also moving up one position from last year's results. Lisbon is home to 455 low-cost hotels and has the highest average temperature from September to November out of all cities examined (18° Celsius).

The journey from London Heathrow to Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport costs £148 on average while vehicles are available for hire for £159.

⒊Berlin, Germany

Moving on, in third place is the German capital, Berlin. The city improved from 2022's results where the location ranked in fourth place. Berlin offers visitors a choice of 1,422 cheap eateries and 360 low-cost hotels throughout the city.

Additionally, the average cost of a week-long hotel stay totals £827 while the average amount of daylight throughout Autumn is 10.7 hours.

⒋Budapest, Hungary

In fourth place is Budapest—the top-rated destination 12 months ago. Budapest has an average of 56mm of rainfall during the Autumn months, the second lowest out of all cities investigated.

Budapest is also a very affordable（价格合理的） city, with the average price of a flight from Heathrow costing £160 while a week-long hotel stay is priced at £600 on average.

The Yungang Grottoes in Datong, Shanxi Province,  UNESCO World Heritage Site, have 45major caves and more than 59,000 Buddha statues, with a grotto complex about 1 km long from east to west.

Don't use chatbots for factual answers

Google and Wikipedia aren't perfect, but they're good enough for reliable factual information most of the time. That average might be correct or surprisingly wrong. And if the chatbot doesn't know the answer, it might invent a reasonable-sounding answer.

Do know what chatbots are best at

Chatbots can be amazing at explaining complicated topics like cryptocurrencyn（加密电子货币） as though you're 5 years old. To understand this strength, it helps to know that the software has been fed files from Reddit, including a forum called "Explain Like I'm Five." That makes ChatGPT good at personalized recipe planning. Again, you should treat ChatGPT less as a reliable cookbook and more as a meal-planning brainstorming partner.

Don't get frustrated and give up

 The five minutes of travel planning with ChatGPT could have popped up some ideas for you to research further.

Now the most important question comes, what to do with the earnings? Should you fulfill dreams of the present, invest in preserving the future or perhaps keep saving it for a rainy day?

Our elders always try to teach us the value of money and its moral weakness. One may be on a winning streak（连续成功） now, but it will not always be so. One will have days when there will be no sunshine but only rain and their luck will hide behind those thick grey clouds. Save for those rainy days, they say. Do not spend too much, live within a budget, refrain from credit no matter how small and save for the future.

Human innovation has allowed people to explore space for decades. Within a space station, astronauts have enough air, food and water to complete missions of a year or longer without a resupply. But missions to further reaches of space are a different matter. Establishing a base on the moon or sending humans to Mars seems just on the horizon. That can only happen if innovative and foolproof（万无一失的） ways are developed to supply humans with enough air, water and food.

One company, Interstellar Labs, has developed an advanced, closed loop system that can grow plants anywhere, even in space. They call their AI managed greenhouses BioPods and they are designed to be very efficient. In fact, Interstellar Labs claims that BioPods reduce the amount of land and water needed to produce food by 99 percent. That is not an impossible claim. BioPods don't use any soil to grow plants, and the vast majority of water is recycled and recalculated.

Plants are grown inside BioPods using aeroponics, the practice of hanging plants in the air and spraying a mist of nutrient-rich water on their roots. By using aeroponics, the BioPod system carefully conserves water with amazing results. According to Interstellar labs, BioPod-grow n plants are up to 300 times more productive than traditionally grown plants, using only a small amount of water.

The conditions inside of a BioPod are controlled by AI, which can change anything from the lighting to the temperature and humidity to maximize growth. This optimizes（使最优化） growing conditions no matter what the environment is outside, including the emptiness of space.

The BioPods themselves can be built in almost any environment, too. The pod's structure is made with a 3Dprinter using raw materials in liquid form. The inside part is sealed with an inflatable membrane（充气膜） that is also 3D-printed. This means that a BioPod could be built right on the surface of the moon or Mars, making transporting a large structure unnecessary.

Like most technology developed for space exploration, BioPods can also be used on Earth to provide highly efficient food production systems even in the harshest environments.
