My mom only had one eye. I hated her. She was such an embarrassment.

She ran a small shop at a flea market, and collected old clothes and some other things to sell for the money we needed. Once during elementary school, it was field day, and my mom came. I was so embarrassed and wondered how could she do this to me? I threw her a hateful look and ignored her. The next day at school, my schoolmates asked me, "your mom only has one eye?" and taunted me.

I was so angry with my mom and wished that she would just disappear from this world. So l said to my mom, "Why don't you have the other eye?! If you're only gonna make me a laughing stock!" My mom did not respond, I guess I felt a little bad, but at the same time, I felt so good to have had said what I wanted to say. Maybe it was because I was full of anger then and there, I didn't think that I had hurt her feelings very badly.

For the words I had said to her earlier, there was something pinching at me in the corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty. I told myself that I would become successful in the near future and get out of that house for good, so I studied very hard. Later I got accepted by the Seoul University, I left my mother and came to Seoul to study. Then I got married there.

I bought a house of my own. Then I had kids, too. Now I am living happily as a successful man. I enjoy the life in Seoul because it's a place that doesn't remind me of my mom past. This kind of happiness was getting bigger and bigger, until one day someone knocked at my door. It was my mom! And still with her one eye! It felt as if the whole sky was falling apart on me. My little girl ran away, scared of my mom's eye.

The Baili Azalea (杜鹃）Nature Reserve in Bijie city, Southwest China's Guizhou Province,(name) after its 125.8 square kilometers of old-growth azaleas and is  national 5A-level scenic spot. The scenic spot not only boasts a sea of azaleas, but (be) also home to towering old trees, mountains, rivers, and rare animals and plants. The azaleas are in full bloom from late March  early May. 

Due to its long history and unique (locate), the Baili Azalea Nature Reserve also preserves the culture of the Yi and Miao ethnic groups. Visitors can enjoy a view of azaleas all over the mountains and participate in (tradition) local festivals. 

The ticket price is 130 yuan per person during peak season after March 20. Visitors can book tickets online and scan their ID cards to enter. Visitors can travel to the Baili Azalea Nature Reserve by train, plane, bus or car. The scenic spot also provides tour bus services  run between 7:30 am and 8:30 pm. Each passenger (buy) bus tickets must show their ID, which they can do an unlimited number of (time) on the day they purchased their ticket.

How Laughing at Yourself Makes You Attractive

Have you ever embarrassed yourself in public and got laughed at for it?  And it's okay — we should even have a laugh about them.

●Laughing at yourself means accepting who you really are. You may feel bad about yourself because of past misfortune. However, it's normal to be imperfect. What's important is that you should be honest with yourself about who you are.  You won't be able to laugh at yourself without self-acceptance.

●Laughing at yourself helps increase your confidence.When you are able to stay optimistic and laugh at yourself, you are likely to be more successful in life.  More importantly, it helps you realize your own weaknesses so you know which areas to do better in.

● Laughing at someone else may hurt their feelings even if you didn't intend to, while laughing at yourself does not — you might even bring a smile to their faces. People will like it, because it shows that you have the courage to do so and you're being real about your imperfections.

Just remember that humans all make mistakes. So instead of blaming yourself, try to think of your mistakes in a positive way and accept yourself just as you are.
