As teenage students, you may feel stressed in the holidays for many reasons. Whatever the season is, it's important for you to take care of your mental health. Here are a few suggestions to consider.

 Staying physically healthy is your best defense against holiday stress. You should keep your good habits as usual. Do play a variety of sports, but make sure to drink enough water after exercise. Try eating a balanced diet every day. Don't overeat or fill up on sweets at party dinners.

Calm your mind. Buying something simple and inexpensive with your family will help you have peace of mind through the holidays when you're shopping for goods.  You can also color or draw with him or her to deal with stress and improve mental health during the holidays.

Practise gratitude. Having gratitude means expressing thanks for what is good in your life. Remember to often show your thanks. Before meals, give thanks to the one who cooks them. Give thanks even if that person is you.  When you practise gratitude, you may also spread it. That way, your mind will be at peace.

Make time for joy. What kind of things can bring you joy? Washing clothes for your parents, looking after your relatives, or volunteering in your community is an effective way. Even delivering a plate of cookies to a neighbor is a choice. 

Make time for yourself. Maybe you need time for yourself after being with family for a long time.  Even a little break can make a big difference when it comes to reducing stress.

The average person must think the field of artificial intelligence or AI is making great progress. The boss of a top tech company thinks that in search of creating AI that has the flexibility of the human brain, "the game is over". Don't be fooled. We should see it in a reasonable way. Machines may someday be as smart as people and perhaps even smarter, but the game is far from over. There is still a large amount of work to be done in making AI machines that can truly understand and reason about the world around them. What we need right now is more basic research to speed it up.

AI is making progress. Artificial images look more and more realistic, and speech recognition can often work in noisy environments. But we are still likely decades away from human- level AI that can understand the true meanings of articles and videos or deal with unexpected difficulties. The field is stuck on the same challenges that scientists have been pointing out for years: getting AI to be reliable and getting it to flexibly deal with unusual situations. Unluckily, the fact is that these systems still fail to work reliably and struggle with new situations.

Although deep learning has advanced the ability of AI machines to recognize patterns in data, it has three main disadvantages. The patterns that it learns are superficial. The results it creates are hard to explain. And the results are difficult to use in the other processes, such as memory and reasoning. As Harvard University computer scientist Leslie Valiant noted, "The central challenge in the future is to unify the formulations（统一公式）of learning and reasoning." You can't deal with a person carrying a stop sign if you don't really understand what a stop sign even is.

It's time for AI researchers to get out of turning to the media straightly for help, and ask important questions about how to build systems that can learn and reason at the same time.

Massive flooding in America's Yellowstone National Park caused widespread damage and resulted in many changes. The recent floodwaters changed the path of a river popular for fishing. It also devastated homes, bridges and roadways.

Yellowstone became America's first national park in 1872. It is known for its natural beauty that includes mountains, rivers and lakes. The forces of fire and ice have shaped the park for thousands of years. It is a place where visitors can get close to different kinds of wildlife.

Flooding caused by heavy rains and melting mountain snow did cause a lot of damage. It drove more than 10,000 visitors out of the park. The rain also damaged hundreds of homes in nearby communities. Luckily, no one was reported hurt. However, the park could remain closed for up to one week. Some entrances might not open all summer. The water also washed away camp structures, flooded small towns and cut power to parts of southern Montana and northern Wyoming. The event happened as the park was beginning its busy summer season and received millions of summer visitors.

The Yellowstone River was running at a historically high level of 4. 9 meters as it flowed past Billings, Montana's largest city. The city got its water from the river and was forced to close its treatment plant（工厂） because it couldn't operate effectively with water levels that high. Billings officials said the city only had a 24-hour supply of water. They were asking people to protect water until the river could drop and the plant could restart operations. "None of us planned a 500-year flood event on the Yellowstone when we designed the equipment," said Debi Meling, the city's director of public works.

Yellowstone officials said, "The northern half of the park is likely to remain closed over the summer. This will greatly affect local economies that depend on summer tourists. But we have faith in the park repairs and economic recovery."

A few years ago, I was an English professor, and I asked my students to finish a paper during the holiday. Mike, one of my students, came to class without it. He explained that his safe（保险柜）had been stolen by a worker who was repairing his house. His notebook computer was in the safe, where his paper was. I was sure that he didn't tell a lie because he had been a really good student.

Then over the two weeks, Mike started to show up to class looking very tired. He said that he was on a hunt for the guy who stole his safe, and he was spending late nights with his cousin driving around looking for the thief because they knew his car. They wanted to find the thief and get the safe back because his living expenses were in it besides the paper.

Then Mike rewrote the paper and turned it in. It wasn't up to his usual quality, and he still kept coming to class looking like he hadn't slept all night. One day, he came very happily to my office, and he reported that he had found the thief after a long search that involved experiencing dangerous situations. He said that they found the thief's car in front of a big supermarket, and they caught him and sent him to the police station.

I read the news that Mike had in fact put an end to the thief's attempt to steal from the supermarket. It turned out that Mike got his money and notebook computer back. I gladly accepted his original paper, and it got a much higher grade than the rewritten one because of his virtues. And I reminded him that he should be responsible for his own safety and talk to me or other teachers first if he met with anything like that.

I remember the day as clear as glass. I was in 6th grade and my teacher had just announced it was a class break, a time we were allowed to eat snacks and move around the classroom. But on that day, I reached a breaking point.

My friend sat across from me. Two classmates who were attention seekers were making fun of him again. They did something mean to him every day: stealing his school supplies, calling his sister ugly, or laughing at his big head. On this day, they were singing a song about him, "Chicken, chicken Josh." They sang endlessly and cruelly. Those words were like a bite of hot pepper to my friend, who turned red with anger and embarrassment, while tears of frustration dropped from his eyes. I could see how hopeless he felt.

Normally, I would just sit and watch it all. I was very shy. I rarely spoke during breaks or raised my hand in class. I was so shy, in fact, that my teacher made me a chart to tick every time I raised my hand. She said I'd receive a prize if I filled it up. But I never did. It didn't help with my shyness; it just made me more self-conscious. But on this particular day, I took a stand. I'd had enough. I stood up and shouted, "Leave him alone!" Silence broke out, all eyes in the room fell on me. But the silence was short-lived as everyone went back to enjoying their break. For the rest of the day, every time the bullies would laugh at my friend during class, I would scream, "Stop troubling him," or, "It wouldn't hurt to be nice."

But these words didn't help. In fact, it made the situation worse: I too became a victim. From that afternoon on, the two bullies began to make up songs about me. They chanted, pronouncing my name in a different dialect to show I was different from them. This mocking and disrespect upset me a lot. I felt helpless.

But these shops are more about businesses; they are also a historical and cultural phenomenon. He  has never tasted a roast duck will regret his whole life--such common sayings have made Quanjude a  (represent) of Beijing. Many other similar two-part allegorical sayings among the folks have also  (vivid) revealed the very characteristics of these old shops. 

Nowadays, with the rapid development of economy and fierce competition in modern society, some Lǎozìhào shops have been keeping pace  the times and carrying forward their brands through continuous reforms and innovations. That's why they (stand) the test of time and survived in competition, while some others have faded into the history due to their inability  (adapt) to the rapid changes in modern social life.

The 13-year-old girl Anna Grace is a volleyball manager a basketball manager, and a theater volunteer, but perhaps her greatest1 is the fact that she has beaten cancer twice. 

Anna was first diagnosed（诊断）with a rare type of2 in December of 2019. A softball player at the time, she told her parents she was experiencing muscle 3 in her left arm, only lifting it about eye-level. She had to4 surgery on her left arm.

Brainstorming really can play a role in your studies. It can help open up your imagination. You can brainstorm alone or in a group ； either way can help increase the number of ideas you come up with.

For instance, you can try free-writing. Write your problem at the top of a page. Once you do that, just begin writing. Using this technique can help get your ideas flowing, as well as help you make connections you haven't thought of. When you've spent at least 10 or 15 minutes free-writing or when you feel like you've reached a stopping point, look back over your writing and highlight or circle anything that might be useful.

You can start with your problem in the center within a circle. Use a line to branch off the main idea with another idea. Group like ideas together with lines. Start new branches for new ideas. This technique is also good for making connections, especially since you can represent it visually.

Individual brainstorming is the most effective when you need to solve a simple problem, generate a list of ideas, or focus on a broad issue. In a group, be sure to brainstorm before you get together so you have some time to think. Make sure to avoid criticizing or rewarding ideas» as that can stop people from bringing up ideas and limiting creativity. The leader can throw out a topic or problem , and then the group can bounce ideas off of each other. Will the ideas be good or not too good? The deeper analysis you have made, the higher it should be to fix the problem to your benefit.
