6、A new study shows that getting half of American 8-to 11-year-olds into 25 minutes of physical activity three times a week would save $21.9 billion in medical costs over their lifetimes.
The increase from the current 32 percent to 50 percent of kids taking part in exercise, active play, or sports would also result in 340,000 fewer overweight teenagers.
"Physical activity not only makes kids feel better and helps them develop healthy habits, it's also good for the nation's bottom line," says Bruce Y. Lee, executive director of the Global Obesity Prevention Center at Johns Hopkins University. "Our findings show that encouraging exercise and investing in physical activity when kids are young pays big dividends as they grow up."
The study, published in the journal Health Affairs, suggests an even bigger advantage if every 8 to 11-year-old in the United States exercised 75 minutes over three times in a week. In that case, the researchers estimate (估计), $62.3 billion in medical costs over the course of their lifetimes could be avoided and 1.2 million fewer youths would be overweight. And the money would increase if not just current 8-to-11 year olds, but every future elementary school child joined their game.
Exercise at least 25 minutes a day, three days a week, is a guideline developed for kids by the Sports and Fitness Industry Association. An overweight person's lifetime medical costs average $62,331. For the overweight person, these amounts are great.
"Even a little increase in physical activity could cause billions of dollars in savings," Lee says. He also says there are other benefits of physical activity that don't affect weight, such as improving bone density, improving mood, and building muscle.
Lee says "We need to be adding physical education programs and not cutting them. We need to encourage kids to be active, to reduce screen time and get them running around again. It's important for their physical health and the nation's financial (经济的) health."

B、Physical education programs should be cut to encourage the nation's financial health. C、25 minutes of physical activity three times a week may result in fewer overweight teenagers. D、Physical activity can only make kids feel better but can't help them develop healthy habits. -
7、On March 15, 2022, Francis Kéré was awarded the Pritzker Prize, otherwise known as the Nobel Prize for architecture, becoming the first African architect ever to obtain this prize.
His path to success was not smooth. When he was 7 years old, Francis Kéré left his family home to attend school because his village, Gando in Burkina Faso, did not have one of its own. Thirteen years later, he moved to Germany on a carpentry scholarship, with a dream of returning home one day to build the classrooms that didn't exist then. Kéré achieved just that, becoming an architect and completing his first building, Gando Primary School, in 2001.
Casting mud like concrete and using local materials over imported ones, Kéré proposed a particular vision of structure that both strengthens communities and responds to the climate crisis. As such, Tuesday's Pritzker Prize announcement is not only a nod of approval for him, but for "vernacular" architecture — a term used to describe designs that directly respond to local climates, materials and building traditions — itself. He also let the whole village participate in the design, encouraging them to construct the school, using local wood to press the stone floors and local clay to make bricks. The result was a welcoming structure with a "floating" roof that allows natural winds in a hot climate, and wall openings that bring light for students to learn even without electricity. Mr. Kéré showed the villagers that ideas to deal with climate or other challenges are always at hand.
Though, Kéré has since designed bigger projects, including many national-scale projects differing in size, his approach remains grounded in Gando. "That's how I'm trying to translate the work I have started in Gando to structures that present national pride," says the newly-awarded architect.
Kéré will officially be named Pritzker winner at a ceremony in London later this year. As with previous winner, he will be awarded a $ 100,000 grant and a bronze medal.
(1)、What does the author intend to do in paragraph 2?A、Speak highly of Kéré's efforts. B、Introduce Kéré' s childhood dream. C、Bring a new topic for discussion. D、Add some background information.(2)、What's Kéré's architectural concept?A、Economizing labour force. B、Having a fancy appearance. C、Highlighting sustainability. D、Using imported building materials.(3)、Which can best describe Francis Kéré?A、Creative and caring. B、Optimistic and humorous. C、Humble and ambitious. D、Stubborn and adventurous.(4)、What kind of writing is the text?A、An award speech. B、A news report. C、A novel. D、A review. -

9、阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
The classroom notice board seemed to laugh at Jack. His name was written poorly on the speech competition list. He stared at the names, feeling quite nervous.
"Surprise, Jack!" Tom shouted suddenly behind him. A group of classmates stood by the windows, holding back laughter. "You'll st-st-stutter(结巴) again, like in math class!" Tom said, copying Jack's way of speaking. "The ‘Human Subwoofer'is back!"
Jack's face burned. The nickname (绰号), Human Subwoofer, had stuck with him since seventh grade. He held the sign-up sheet tightly, not knowing what to do. For years, he'd avoided busy hallways and hidden during breaks to escape jokes.
At lunchtime, Jack wandered to the auditorium (礼堂). Through the half-open door, he watched students practising speeches. They spoke loudly with expressive faces. Jack pulled out his sign-up sheet and took a closer look. The handwriting wasn't his parents' — it was Tom's!
A strong wave of anger swept over Jack. Tom had signed him up as a cruel joke. His first thought was to throw the paper away and forget about it. But as days passed, something inside him changed. He couldn't let Tom's laughter control how he saw himself anymore.
He began practising his speech alone. In his room, he stood in front of a mirror and gave himself confidence. "H-hello," he repeated, his voice shaky. He kept practising after school, hiding in empty classrooms. Slowly, his stuttering grew softer.
One afternoon, he heard Tom talking to friends by chance, "Watch him st-st-stutter on stage! It'll be funny!" Their laughter cut through the air like a knife. Determined, Jack said to himself in a low voice, "I'll show them."
注意:
1.所续写短文的词数应为100左右。
2.续写部分为一段,开头语已为你写好。
On the day of the competition, Jack's heart raced as he stepped onto the stage.

19、阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容(1个单词)或括号内单词的正确形式。
Forests, are necessary for life on Earth, faceincreasing threat from human activities. These green spaces not only provide oxygen but also serve as (nature) homes for countless species. Moreover, they play an important role in preventing soil erosion and keeping the weather balanced. However, many people still don't understand (they) true value, treating forests carelessly.
Recent studies show that trees clean the air more effectively than (previous) thought. A healthy forest can take in up to 30% of carbon dioxide (produce) by human activities, greatly slowing down global warming. Despite this, we continue destroying forestsan alarming rate of 15 million hectares annually. For example, the Amazon rainforest, often called the "lungs of the Earth", has decreased by 20% in the past 50 years.
The protection of forests requires immediate action. Governments should take measures (encourage) better practices, such as planting new trees for each tree removed. Ordinary people can help by reducing paper waste and supporting (organize) that plant trees. Additionally, raising public awareness is of great importance. If everyone (contribute), we can preserve these precious ecosystems for future generations.
