1、We had just completed a unit on heroes, and I had given my kindergarten class a task to draw their favorite hero. Each child was1 with the task, creating colorful masterpieces.
However, one little boy was having2 with the task. Cameron was with autism (自闭症), but that didn't3 to me or his classmates. We all loved him just the way he was. I sat and watched Cameron, together with another little boy Austin, working4 their drawings attentively. Within a few minutes, Cameron began5 and then coloring.
Finally, it was time for everybody to share their pictures. I listened as each student stood in front of the class with great6, his or her picture held high, and7 his or her hero vividly. It was finally Cameron's8. He stood up slowly and anxiously placed his drawing in front of his face to9 eye contact. We all fixed our eyes on the picture,10 to know who his hero was. He then said it was a picture of me. He added that I helped him learn things and then11 sat down. Tears began to form in my eyes, but12 could have prepared me for what happened next.
When Austin stood up, he proudly held up a picture of Cameron. Austin said that Cameron was his hero because Cameron had the sickness that made it really13 to learn, but he was like Superman and was really smart.
Cameron immediately stood up, and put his arms up in the air as if he were going to14, yelling out, "I'm Superman!" The entire class began striking Superman's poses, too. Within minutes, we were all laughing as though we had truly discovered the secret of becoming15.

2、Life is growth. If you are not reaching the kind of success, the following Universal Truths are just the ones that help to change your life for the better, regardless of where you are, where you've been, or whatchallenges you are facing.
Set a goal.
The best way to achieve your desires is to set a goal. Sometimes we find ourselves "spinning our wheel", struggling through a day-to-day routine that isn't getting us anywhere because we don't know where we want to go.Whatever the case is, figure out your goal and make sure your current action are helping to achieve it.
Have a vision.
Setting goals is important but isn't enough to drive you to the finishing line. How will you feel? Why is it worthwhile to follow these goals and not some other ones? If goals are the final result of a journey, your vision(愿景) is the fuel to get you there.
Whether you regard yourself as a towering tree or a blade of grass, or whether you think you are a high mountain or a small stone, you represent a state of nature that has its own reason of existence. If you truly admire yourself, you'll be courageous.
There is no better time to begin than now. You can make a bunch of excuses that you'll start when more experienced or richer. No matter what dream or desire you have, you are likely not to have more time in your life to make it happen.
A. Fly your imagination.
B. Appreciate yourself.
C. But the truth is that your time is now.
D. Read and allow them to change your life in beautiful ways.
E. Try to understand and let it be the guide to your life as follows.
F. It's also important to be able to imagine yourself as the achiever of your goals.
G. Sometimes we simply do what is expected of us without considering what we want to achieve.

3、Birds are often related to flight, but not all of them take to the skies. Around 60 species — fewer than 1% of all bird species — are flightless. These birds had flying ancestors but lost their ability to fly, instead adapting to life on land or in the water.
But why did they give up flight? Why don't all birds fly? The ability to fly is especially useful for running away from predators (捕食者) and traveling long distances in search of food and favorable living conditions. However, flight requires a lot of energy; birds burn about 75% more energy each day than equally sized mammals do.
"If flight isn't necessary, birds can better survive and reproduce if they use that energy elsewhere," Natalie Wright, an associate professor of biology at Kenyon College in Ohio, told Live Science in an email.
In a 2016 paper published in the journal PNAS, Wright and her colleagues noted that birds living on islands, facing few or no predators and less competition for food and habitat, tend to become flightless.
"When living on an island without predators and without the need to migrate or travel long distances, for many kinds of birds the costs of flight outweigh the benefits," Wright said. "Although flightless birds are uncommon today, fossils show that they were far more common and various a few thousand years ago," Tim Blackburn, a professor of invasion biology at University College London, told Live Science in an email. However, the arrival of humans and animals like rats and dogs exposed these birds to predators.
A 2020 study co-authored by Blackburn and published in the journal Science Advances found that there would be four times as many flightless bird species on Earth today if it were not for human-driven extinctions.
(1)、According to the text, why do some birds lose the ability to fly?A、Because they are too heavy to fly. B、Because flying helps to save energy. C、Because few predators reduce flight need. D、Because they prefer to live on land or in water.(2)、What do Wright and Blackburn both agree with?A、Flightless birds might die out one day. B、Environments are important for flightless bird evolution. C、Flightless birds were more common in the past than today. D、Flying requires more energy than walking or swimming.(3)、What is Tim Blackburn's attitude toward the impact of human activities on flightless birds?A、Unclear. B、Negative. C、Favourable. D、Confused.(4)、What might be the author's purpose of writing this passage?A、To explain inability to fly in some birds species. B、To introduce the different habitats of flightless birds. C、To encourage people to protect birds from extinction. D、To compare the energy consumption of flying birds and flightless birds. -
4、Recently, the release of the AI music platform Suno has drawn much attention. It's a free website that makes songs in various types tailored to user requirements.
Driven by curiosity, I immediately asked Suno to create some pop songs. I must admit, it's very user-friendly for music amateurs (业余爱好者) and beginners. Just provide some details like the theme, style, and even the language you want for your song, and it will give you two songs within a minute. The first song amazed me. It had all the elements that a pop song should have: The lyrics weren't just random but instead were thoughtfully thought to convey deep emotions, such as "Every day feels like a struggle, a battle I can't win". The arrangement also included piano, guitar, drums and other elements.
However, as I explored more of the songs Suno could make, I realized that AI struggles to create music that truly connects with us as human beings. Despite listening to many of the songs it made, I couldn't recall any of them afterward. The formulaic (公式化的) arrangements and common lyrics are the main issues I have with it. For example, the melody of the first two lines of each chorus tends to be the same, just with different words, which soon becomes dull. Over time, music lovers might lose interest.
Additionally, since AI lacks real-life experiences, the lyrics it create are too common, lacking specific scenes or images that make you feel present in the moment.
But this doesn't mean AI is useless in music creation. Some music influencers have used Suno to make a song, drawn inspiration from it, and transformed it into something unique, resulting in catchy and personalized music.
In conclusion, platforms like Suno can be useful tools for making music to meet simple needs. However, it is human creativity and unique ideas that fill songs with emotion and make them memorable. This is why we should appreciate and respect the work of real musicians.
(1)、What does the text tell us about Suno?A、It provides classes for music amateurs. B、It offers professional music production. C、It generates songs by user requirements. D、It charges fees for providing a wide range of music.(2)、Why is AI-made music hard to recall according to the text?A、Because the lyrics are too complex. B、Because listeners lack real-life experiences. C、Because both arrangements and lyrics lack originality. D、Because the music is too different from traditional pop songs.(3)、What is the advantage of the AI music platform Suno mentioned in the text?A、It serves as an inspiration for personalized music. B、It can replace the need for human creativity in music. C、It can provide real-life experiences through its lyrics. D、It can create music that deeply relates to human emotions.(4)、What's the best title for the text?A、Suno: the end of human musicians B、Suno: a perfect platform for music composition C、AI music platforms: a tool, not a replacement D、AI music platforms: the future of music creation -
5、At the Boxing County Lyuju Opera Troupe, in east China's Shandong province, Liu Ning, 41 and his student Wang Chenglong, 24 were rehearsing Sisters'Marriage Switch, a classic from Lyuju Opera.
As one of the major local operas, Lyuju Opera was put on China's National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2008. "During festivals, villages in my hometown would stage operas. My grandmother always took me along, though I only watched for fun at the beginning," Wang recalled. His artistic awakening came during a Maoqiang (another Shandong opera style) performance. "Charmed, I registered in Maoqiang training after junior high, unprepared for the rigors."
The training was extremely strict: a short section of recitation, only eight words, needs to be practiced for a whole week until there is no mistake in posture, expression, or tone, and if there was a small mistake in the position of the tongue, it meant starting over. Because of this difficulty, Wang gave up. But his later factory work taught him life's hardships. Learning from experience, he seized a second chance through registration in the local Lyuju Opera Class. As graduation approached, Wang heard that young actors were needed in the Boxing County Lyuju Opera Troupe, so he chose to join and stay in this troupe.
Today, he has become a leading drama expert, and he is also actively promoting new media communication. On Tiktok, he has nearly 30,000 fans, many of whom are local people, and a large number of young people are attracted to it. He shared his own performances and those of his daily life of training, which received a lot of attention and praise.
In fact, Lyuju Opera still has a very large elderly audience in many areas of Shandong. Liu said, "Today, the attraction of Lyuju Opera in Boxing county is still very strong. Performances may not need the top stage, or even a stage, they occur in the local communities, hidden in every corner of Boxing."
(1)、Why did Wang Chenglong decide to go after opera training after junior high?A、He was attracted by a Maoqiang peformance. B、He intended to promote national cultural heritage. C、He wanted to escape the hardships of factory work. D、He was encouraged to join the troupe by his grandmother.(2)、What does the underlined word in paragraph 2 mean?A、Surprise. B、Excitement. C、Difficulty. D、Sadness.(3)、How has Wang Chenglong contributed to the promotion of Lyuju Opera?A、By performing on large stages in major cities. B、By organizing large-scale opera festivals in Shandong. C、By teaching opera to elderly audiences in local communities. D、By using social media to share his performances and training.(4)、Which of the following words can best describe Wang Chenglong?A、Strict and traditional. B、Devoted and adaptable. C、Open-minded and determined. D、Kind and generous. -

17、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Mom drank stories with her morning coffee, a warm soup of words mixed with paragraphs, commas (逗号), and periods. They came in various flavors and were all appetizing. Whenever I attempted to read aloud like Mom, however, no words dared to climb out. My world was silent, without a voice to call my own.
That silence invited jeers (嘲笑), tears, and many heartbreaks. I couldn't remember how many times I had switched schools and how many times I had run home crying, signing desperately to Mom, "I'm done with school." My fingers were the voice I couldn't find and the only way I could cry out. Everything changed, however, when I met Ms. Park.
It was a lovely day. Mom drove me to my new school and I felt calm until the car stopped in front of a large white building. The moment I got off, Ms. Park, my new English teacher, came up. "Nice to meet you," she signed. How could she know sign language! I signed back while pretending to be distracted by the posters on the walls. "Interested in our writing contest?" she asked. I looked up, noticing the huge black-and-white words on one poster. "Try it! Just hand in a story to me next week," Ms. Park smiled. The thought of entering fascinated me. It was my chance to speak without actually speaking.
At home, I sat with a blank sheet of paper in front of me. Closing my eyes, I heard Mom's honey-like stories, so tasty that anyone who listened begged for more. She always told me that satisfying stories came from the heart. Then, I had it. What story could be closer to my heart than my own? So after a week of intense writing, I let my story flow through my pen and drip onto the paper and handed it to Ms. Park.
Then, one day, when walking through a crowded hall, I saw Ms. Park signing from afar, "You've made the cut (入选)!" Her dancing fingers were too good to be true and I began waiting for the day of the upcoming awards ceremony.
