Art is a universal language. Music is a universal language. Love is a universal language. Now, it's the turn of sand to be mentioned in such terms. In her work, sand artist Kseniya Simonova mixes art, music and love to create her own medium which can be understood and appreciated by everyone. 

According to Simonova, she fell in love with sand art "absolutely accidentally." Her husband, a theatre director, advised her to give it a try. "I never thought I could perform; I was always a classical artist," reveals Simonova. "I just started it as a hobby and I never thought it would turn out to be what it is now." In 2009, Simonova won the "Ukraine's Got Talent" TV contest. Since then her fame has skyrocketed, and she has become a real sensation（引起轰动的人）. 

The art Simonova creates is magical; however, the medium she uses is quite common. "It is ordinary river sand. There was a time when I did use the volcanic one, but actually it makes no difference," says Simonova. "In sand art it is an idea and its visualisation that matters. What I do is create a theatre in my mind. The sand is a very convenient medium that is very flexible and responds to speed well. It can show what is going on in my head."

The images created by the artist live only for a few seconds. However, Simonova is not in any way alarmed by the momentary aspect of sand art. "I know that my creations exist only for a while, but I believe that to be absolutely normal because art mirrors life. We live every moment of our life, but it's not possible to repeat those. The same is the case with what I do," Simonova concludes. 

Sand art helps the artist to see the world in a new way, painting ever-changing life in every grain of sand.

Glacier National Park is Montana's crown jewel. The expansive one million-acre park, which was named after those remains of glaciers estimated to be 7, 000 years old, offers impressive mountainous scenery. Here, you'll find more than 700 lakes, National Historic Landmarks including Lake McDonald Lodge, Granite Park Chalet and the Two Medicine Store, and the famous Highline Trail, which follows the Continental Divide. 

Banff National Park

Situated in southwestern Alberta, Canada's oldest national park is also one of its most beautiful national parks. Visitors can explore Banff National Park on foot along more than 1, 000 miles of hiking trails—the Lake Agnes Trail features a seasonal European-style tea house, or drive the scenic Icefields Parkway for breathtaking views of glaciers and waterfalls. 

Bobby was getting cold sitting out in his backyard in the snow. Bobby didn't wear boots; or rather, he didn't own any. The thin sneakers he wore had a few holes in them and they did a poor job of keeping out the cold.

He saw a flower shop and went inside to wait in line. When the shop owner asked if he could help him, Bobby presented the dime and asked if he could buy one flower for his mother's Christmas gift. The shop owner looked at Bobby and his offering ten-cent. Then he put his hand on Bobby's shoulder, saying, "You just wait here and I'll see what I can do for you. "

The sound of the door closing as the last customer left pulled Bobby back to reality. All alone in the shop, Bobby began to feel alone and afraid.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, China's sprinter (短跑运动员) Su Bingtian made history by  (become) the first Chinese athlete (运动员) to make it to the final of men's 100m Olympic event.

Plants grow well with enough sunshine and water. However, put in unfortunate conditions, they have no choice but to die. But what if plants could relocate to better places?

It was this question that Sun Tianqi, founder of a Chinese robotics firm Vincross, asked himself while watching a dead sunflower. "I thought if it could have taken a 30 - foot walk out of the shadow to where the other sunflowers were, it would have lived healthily," he said. 

He decided then to build a robot that would let plants do just that. The researchers took one of his company's traditional HEXA robot models and built a "flowerpot," which replaced HEXA's shell. 

HEXA is a six - legged robot that comes complete with all the necessary sensors. The impressive plant robot can chase (追逐) the sun, hide for shelter, and perform a funny dance to indicate it is thirsty. 

Tianqi concluded, "Plants are passive. No matter if they are being cut, bitten, burned or pulled from the earth, or when they lack sunshine, water, or are too hot or cold, hey will hold still and take whatever is happening to them. They have the fewest degrees of freedom among all the creature in nature. This is simply the setting that nature gives to plants. I hope that this project can bring some inspiration to the relationship between technology and bad natural settings. "

I spent my childhood collecting and pressing four-leaf clovers（三叶草）into books at my mother's house. I started with big cloth-and-leather-bound books. When I ran out of bound volumes，I began to slip my treasures into anything I could find，such as old fiction paperbacks and cookbooks. The same is true in my house today. Shake a book，and a treasure just might fall into your hand. 

A few years ago，in Nova Scotia，my husband and I pulled off the road for a picnic. The ground was thick with clovers. Some shoots had four，five，or even six leaves. I lined them up on the picnic table to admire. To me，it was simple. The differences in their shapes made them stand out，breaking the pretty pattern of the common clovers with three perfect leaves. 

Two summers back，while waiting for an airport shuttle in Munich，I found a tiny four-leaf clover in a traffic circle and put it in my passport. On the way home，my husband and I were upgraded to business class. All of my friends owed it to the clover. I think it's some likely that we were upgraded because a flight was postponed，which left us trapped in two cities for several hours. 

People disagree about whether the luck comes for finding or possessing a clover. Some believe that the luck is lost if the four-leaf clover is shown to somebody else，while others think that the luck doubles if it is given away. I believe that positivity is compounded by sharing. I feel lucky to find the clovers so often，but I don't think they influence my life anymore than it does to share any thing a little special with a friend or a stranger. 

For Chinese students nowadays, no matter what kind of schools they're going to, they have to face the problem of learning English. All examinations they want to pass require them to pass English. Examinations for entering further education, studying abroad and even graduating from college require scores in English examinations. English has become the most popular course in tutorial classes and even in the self-study classroom. 

When nearly all students' attention is focused on English, looking at the situation of our mother language, even Chinese linguists get confused about its use. Not only have many new words and phrases which are very popular on the Internet started to fill in every corner of the society, but common use of Chinese is full of mistakes and misunderstandings. 

Under such urgent situation for the Chinese language, it's time for every Chinese person to start protecting our mother tongue. 

Chinese has the most speakers of any world language and also is one of the oldest in history. Around the world, many countries have started learning Chinese and Chinese has become one of the most important foreign languages in some foreign countries. Besides, there are 282 Confucius institutions in 88 countries and regions in the world that are teaching Chinese. The number of people learning Chinese is about 50 million outside China. 

For those foreigners that are so crazy about Chinese language, what kind of attitude should the Chinese have? Honestly speaking, learning English itself shouldn't be criticized, and we need to learn English to communicate with the world to show our culture and society. 

However, it doesn't make any sense that the importance of Chinese is replaced by a foreign language in a native's mind. It's really time to protect our Chinese language! Are you ready?
