Giant stars may be the ultimate example of "Live fast; die young". Unlike our own sun, which will shine for billions of years, more huge stars can burn through their fuel in only a few million years before dropping off their outer parts and exploding.

This week NASA published a rare image from the James Webb Space Telescope(JWST)of one such giant—a Wolf-Rayet star in the final stages of its life. Named WR 124, it's found in Sagitta and lies about 15, 000 light-years away from Earth. The dying star is at least 30times the mass of our sun but is contracting itself quickly as it sends off hot gas into the cold space. 

"We've caught it early, " explains Anthony Moffat, a retired astrophysicist, who previously observed WR 124 using the Hubble Space Telescope and was not involved in the recent JWST measurements. Moffat has studied Wolf-Rayet stars for decades. "This is the youngest one I know of, " he says. The colorful cloud in the image is only a few thousand years old. "Now the nebula is hugging the star, " he says. But as time flies by, it will bloom outward in expanding shells or rings of gas and dust.

Astrophysicists created the grand image by combining data from two of JWST's instruments, the Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and the Mid-Infrared Instrument(MIRI). The Hubble Space Telescope, which mostly gathers light at optical(视觉的) wavelengths, had captured images of WR 124 before, but JWST's observations show the star's disappearance in detail. 

"Personally, the most exciting part of this image is that we are capturing a rare event—that is, a Wolf-Rayet star—with a level of detail that can only be achieved with JWST. " says Macarena Garcia Marin, an astrophysicist at the European Space Agency, who works with MIRL

Vladimirova's path as an artist was far from linear(直线的). Since childhood. Vladimirova has developed a love for drawing and painting. However, she pursued a different academic and professional route, studying Chinese and international trade in college and later working in trade relations between Russia and China , none of which was directly connected to the world of art. Yet, Vladimirova's inner artist remained alive. 

In 2015, Vladimirova began crafting a series of illustrations centered around Beijing. properly named "The Beijing Calendar". What attracts Vladimirova most is Beijing's historic hutong. These narrow alleyways, rich in history and culture, serve as a wellspring(源泉) of inspiration for her artistry.

Vladimirova's ability to catch these hidden small differences likely comes from her unique perspective as an"outsider"—someone who didn't grow up in Beijing. This fresh perspective allowed her to arrive in the city with fresh eyes and an eager heart, ready to embrace a new culture.

After dinner Mother walked down the beach to hunt for shells. Sally and Nan stayed by the fire, looking at the smoke and flames. 

Sally went near the fire to throw on more wood. Suddenly her dress caught fire. She began to scream.

China's Shenzhou 14 crew spent the Mid Autumn Festival in space  the first time, en joying food including mooncakes and lettuce grown by themselves in space,  was also the first time astronauts enjoyed vegetables grown in space. 

China (successful) launched the Shenzhou 14 to its Tiangong space station on the morning of June 5, 2022. The commander of the mission is Chen Dong, a veteran of theShenzhou 11 mission in October 2016. (join) Chen Dong on Shenzhou 14 is Liu Yang, who was born in 1978 and (become) China's first woman taikonaut when she launched on the Shenzhou 9 mission on June 16, 2012. Another Shenzhou 14 crew member for this flight isCai Xuzhe, making (he) first space flight.

The three astronauts recorded their first Mid-Autumn Festival at the space station with video showing the floating mooncakes, lettuce, and holiday food packs.

There are some very pleasant moments for teachers. 

After 1 , I accepted my first job in Coimbatore. Coimbatore, despite the 2  envi ronment for me, became my second home. 

One day, there were some discussions on local food and children's 3 . Most of the students started telling me that their favorite food was Dosa, Roti, Paratha Puri, etc. When the4  of Tina came, she mentioned Bholi. I wasn't 5  of that dish, so I asked Tina to6  it. All that I could learn from her was that it was a sweet dish. And I could not ask for more 7  because of the language barrier(障碍). 

Two days later, Tina came to my office and 8  a bag. She told me that she had 9 asked her mother to prepare Bholi for me. There was a note from her mother, saying that Tina10  what had happened in the class and that she requested me to 11  the snack. There was another page about the 12  of preparation. 

That really 13  me at that moment. Who said that 14  is a boring thing? Having15  students like Tina was an enjoyable experience. 

How to Teach Confidence

While it might seem like some people are just born confident, confidence is largely an acquired skill.  Start by building up their self esteem, independent thought, and positive self-talk. Show them how to achieve goals, and how to deal with failure when it happens. With lessons like these, you can teach the people around you to become more confident. 

Model confident behavior for people.

If you're trying to improve someone's confidence, be a model for how they should behave in a confident way.  Show them confident interpersonal relations like eye contact, hand shakes, and making small talk. This lets them practice in a safe environment. 

Praise small accomplishments to raise a person's self-worth. 

If you're trying to build someone's confidence, start small. Each accomplishment they complet e is a cause for celebration, even if it seems small. Be happy for your friends, kids, or students. 

Give specific praise so people know what they did well. 

A specific praise is better than a simple"You did well". This makes your praise more genuine and boosts the person's self-esteem more by showing them their strengths.

Start with a positive statement before correcting something. 

 This is especially important if you're a parent, teacher, or coach. If you do have to make criticisms or corrections, always start by saying something positive first. This raises the person's spirits and makes it easier for them to take the critical feedback that's coming up. 

A. Tell the person exactly what they did well. 

B. It's something you can model and teach other people. 

C. You may have to point out where someone needs to improve. 

D. Instead of feeling criticized, the person will know you're sincere. 

E. Act confident around them and in your interpersonal interactions. 

F. Your positive energy will teach them to celebrate their achievements. 

G. You might show someone's strengths to help them see the bright side. 

A confident smile is a happy smile. Have you ever had a stranger smile at you while you were out in public? Maybe you were feeling down, but their genuine and friendly smiles literally made you turn your frow n upside down. All thanks to that smiley person, your negative attitude suddenly subsided. It is hard to believe that such a small gesture can impact your mood so sim ply, but I would be lying if I said that I've never experienced this feeling. I'm sure you can relate. 

With that being said, science can back this up. Where are these happy feelings coming from?Well, when you smile at someone, you may feel like you're experiencing temporary happiness. That is because endorphins(内啡肽) are released in the brain when you smile. Endorphins can be described as natural painkillers for the body, which also boost your self-esteem(自尊). Smiling is really a simple act of kindness, which can also make you feel better about yourself. 

As an illustration, someone going in for a job interview with their heads held high, and smiles on their faces will have a better chance of scoring the job. Employers remark that a person who looks down when they speak to avoid showing their smiles during an interview, most likely won't be hired, because it looks as though they are hiding something. However, that personwith an inviting smile shows confidence. No matter what you look like, a smile is worth a thousand words and people can recognize that. 

It gives me such a rewarding feeling helping children, teens, and adults to build their selfesteem through treatment. It's all worth it seeing that spark of joy in my patient after the job is all said and done. I truly believe that a bright eyed smile has the capacity to allow you to connect with others, without uttering a sound. 

For years, communities around Kenya's Tsavo National Park have been troubled by elephants straying(走失) into their farms and homes. Residents are caught unawares whenever the huge creatures turn up in their villages, hurting people and destroying things. 

Four Kenyan teens, Sandra Lukindo, Joyce Moto, Nancy Wairimu and Macrin a Antonia, came up with a solar-powered sensor kit to alert(使戒备) the authorities to stray elephants. These four youngsters won the Startup Africa Competition and are now taking the global scene by storm. 

The device is an integration of motion sensors and the Global System for Mobile communication with the ability to send strong signals and raise alarms once an elephant is on the way to a village. "It has a red light, which indicates that power is on. A sensor set to track an elephant passing about 180m away raises a siren (警报器), which alert s both the community and KenyaWildlife Service(KWS) officials through a short message service, "Wairimu said.

"This device will take care of both the elephants and the community. The number of elephants being killed secretly keeps increasing, "Antonia said. She cited research showing thatKWS struggles to deal with illegal hunters in the vast park.

George Nagwala, KWS assistant director, said the creation is an effective way of solving the human-wildlife conflict, "We are happy because the community is getting a unique way of dealing with this problem, even as our officers work around the clock to safeguard wildlife and the com-munity, "Nagwala said. The wildlife service is currently using radio collars to map out the elephants' migratory routes and identify how far they travel in search of water and vegetation.
