Have you ever heard of "conscious(清醒的) spending"? According to Ramit Sethi, conscious spending is all about spending as much as possible on the things you love and cutting costs as much as possible on the things you don't need. It's about knowing what you really want and then spending your money on the things you love.

The term "conscious spending" suggests that people often experience unconscious spending nowadays. It's almost like unconscious eating. We're just going without a plan, and we're not really paying much attention, especially when using credit cards to pay.

The most important way to deal with unconscious spending is to ask yourself some questions. Where has my money been going? What do I love spending money on and why? How much do I need for the things I must have? How much do I want to save and why? How much do I want to set aside for unimportant buys?

Answering these questions can help you feel excited and clear about your money, know what you care less about, and live according to what's important to you. "Then, it's a lot easier to cut down your spending in areas that you don't need so much," Klontz said.

Your answers to these questions agree with what Sethi calls your "rich life"—the life that is special to you and not influenced by what anyone else thinks you should do. When you've already thought about what you really want, you will no longer have to feel anxious or doubtful about how you spend your money.

  • 12.  阅读与表达

Most teenagers receive pocket money from their parents. They often spend this money on snacks, games, or save up for something special. But should they manage their pocket money? Let's see some different ideas.

    AgreeDisagree

It helps teenagers set goals. For example, if Li Ling wants to save 60 yuan to get a Mother's Day gift in 5 weeks, she has to think about how much she should save each week. It's like making a plan and sticking to it.

It helps teenagers learn to say no. For example, choosing between delicious snacks and a great book helps teenagers practise the skill of making choices. And this skill helps them understand what matters more to them.

It gives a sense of independence. They feel proud when they can buy something with their own money.

Teenagers aren't good at dealing with money. They might not know how to use money wisely. They may spend it on something they don't really need.

If a student has a lot of money in his bag, a fight might happen when someone wants to take the money. This may cause a safety risk.

Many teenagers think it is a little hard to manage money. If parents manage the pocket money, teenagers don't have to make sure they have enough money for everything. This makes students less stressed and lets them spend more time learning.

Then would you like to manage your own money? In fact, managing pocket money can be hard at first. But it will be a valuable skill if you master it. It will help you grow up to be smart with money.

(1)、How much money should Li Ling save each week for the Mother's Day gift?
(2)、What skill does choosing between snacks and a book help teenagers practise?
(3)、What safety risks are there if a student has a lot of money in his bag?
(4)、What's your idea about if teenagers should manage their pocket money? Why do you think so? Write 30 words or more.
