Do you feel sleepy on rainy days? If the answer is yes, you are not alone. Many people feel the same way. But do you know why?

One of the reasons is that there is little sunshine on rainy days. Our brain( 脑 )has less serotonin(血清素)and more melatonin (褪黑素)if there is not enough sunlight. Serotonin helps us feel good and vigorous, while melatonin makes us feel sleepy. So we may want to go to sleep and even feel a bit sad when it is rainy.

The humidity (湿度)of a rainy day is another reason. As it rains, the air becomes wetter than usual. It's more difficult for our sweat(汗水)to dry, so our body has to work harder to stay cool This can make us feel tired.

Moreover, the sound of rain, a type of pink noise, will make us feel sleepy too. Like white noise, pink noise includes all the sound frequencies(频率)humans can hear, but it has fewer high frequencies than white noise. This makes pink noise sound softer. Studies show that people's brain wave complexity (脑电波复杂度)will become lower when they hear pink noise, so they will fall asleep more easily.

Now you can understand why you are sleepy on rainy days. Then what can you do if you don't like that feeling? Well, you can get as much natural light as possible and keep yourself busy. Also, you can use a machine to reduce indoor humidity(降低室内湿度).In this way, you will feel less sleepy.

Now that it is hot, how about treating yourself to some ice cream?

Many people think ice cream is a modern Western food. In fact, it can date from the Tang Dynasty(唐朝) in China. Back then, it was not called ice cream, it was known as su  shan.

Su was made from milk, just like cream or butter. It was not only tasty but also healthy. It was recorded that nomads (游牧部落的人)from the north introduced it to Central China.

According to some records, women often made su shan. They would heat su until it melted (融化)and then carefully pour it onto a plate, shaping it into the form(形状)of a mountain. That's why it was called su shan. Then they would put it in an icebox. Sometimes, they added sugar on top. They might also decorate (装饰 )the food with some flowers and leaves to make it look more beautiful.

Tang poet(诗人)Wang Lingran described how people made and enjoyed su shan in one of his poems. "It isn't solid (固体的)or watery," he wrote. "It disappears ( 消失)as soon as it   touches your teeth."Su shan was a popular dish during the Tang and Song dynasties. However, only rich people and royalty (王室成员)could pay for large iceboxes to prepare this summer treat.

Luckily, today, we can all enjoy ice cream whenever we want!

Today, China would like to make its voice heard by telling true stories. Storytelling is the best way for international communication ( 交流) .Telling Chinese stories warms people's hearts. . By listening to true stories of China, many people get to know more about China.

A good Chinese story should be about the Chinese national spirit and Chinese cultural  confidence (文化自信).The hot Chinese movie The Battle at Lake Changinwas popular. In 1950,the Chinese People's Volunteers joined the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(朝鲜)to fight in the war. Under hard conditions (条件),the soldiers fought the enemy (敌军)at Lake Changjin. Without the great efforts(努力)of the soldiers and Party members, such success would never be achieved.

Although Chinese culture has a long history, we should find a new way to tell Chinese stories.  She spread Chinese culture to the world by showing her countryside life on the Internet.

 We should fully understand the Chinese culture and learn English well.

Animals are all different from one another. Some animals can run faster than sports cars, while others move very slowly. The slowest mammal  ( 哺乳动物)in the world is the three-toed sloth(三 趾树懒).Sloths live slow and relaxing lives in the rainforests of Central and South America.

Sloths are about 70 cm long and weigh 4kg -7 kg. It takes them about one minute to climb only 3.6m. They spend more than 15 hours sleeping every day. They stay in the trees most of the time. They come down from the trees to defecate(排便)just once a week. This is the most dangerous  time for sloths, as their natural enemies(天敌),like ocelots(虎猫),might come at them. There's no way they can run away in time.

As sloths don't move much, green algae  ( 藻 )grow on their fur. But this is just a good thing for them. The algae make them look like green leaves on a tree and help them hide ( 躲避)from  enemies. They usually live more than 10 years in the wild.

Sloths may be slow climbers, but they are good swimmers. One of the reasons is that they have to swim to live.
