Changing your character. There's a lot of truth in the power of habit. It takes small changes step by step. So,try to do one kind thing before lunch. Do another one before you go to bed. Over time,one day you will easily and habitually do kind things.

Many animals need to move from one place to another. Often they do this as part of natural migration（迁徙）. Sometimes they need to move to a new area when  gets low or the situations get worse. 

Humans take over large areas of the Earth. Roads and highways cut up many of the natural areas into many small parts, making it  for animals to move. One way of helping these animals is to build bridges and tunnels to help them  dangerous roads. 

In 2018, Utah  a wildlife bridge over the busy highway I-80. Usually, it takes animals a long time to find and begin using wildlife bridges,scientists thought the bridge wouldn't get much traffic for several years.  , a video shows many different kinds of animals are already using the bridge. 

Hainan gibbons（长臂猿）are danger because the number is getting much smaller. Scientists are trying their best to  them. In 2015 a rope bridge appeared there to help Hainan gibbons cross the forest  . 

These changes don't just help animals.  save human lives too. In the US alone, there are many road accidents every year caused by cars and trucks hitting wild animals. Now people in other countries are looking to try these ideas too. 

Earth Day is often celebrated on 22nd April around the world to ask people to focus on environment problems and encourage them to take action to protect the earth. Here are three real-life stories of people who are doing their part to make the earth a better place. 

Zheng Xiyu is trying to reduce her carbon（碳）footprint. Every morning, she takes a bus to her office and it takes her about 40 minutes. But Zheng has been thinking of changing this. She wants to try a different way of transport— cycling. "Riding a bike to work," the lady said,"takes the same amount of time as taking a bus. However, it's better for the environment and my health. "

Professor Li Lin is also leading a low-carbon lifestyle. Her office uses energy-saving lights. These lights go off themselves when they are not needed. This has saved a large amount of electricity. Also, her office prints paper on both sides as another way to save energy. Professor Li thinks small actions like these are important for protecting the environment. "It has saved one ton of paper, which means it has reduced about two and a half tons of CO₂ emissions（排放）," Professor Li said. 

Lin Hui always chooses products with a longer life when he shops. That's because it helps to reduce waste. Two years ago, Lin and his friends set up an environment website, where he wanted to give some advice on saving energy and protecting the environment. 

These everyday heroes show us that even small actions can make a big difference in protecting our planet. On Earth Day, let's learn from them and start doing our part.
