The erhu originated(起源于) in the Tang Dynasty. It has a history of more than 1,000 years. It is a two-string(弦) instrument(乐器). It looks like a violin. It imitates(模仿) the sound of birds and horses. The timbre(音色) of the erhu has strong appeal(感染力) and expressiveness(表现力).

The most famous piece(曲子) of erhu music in China is The Moon Reflected on the Second Spring (《二泉映月》). A blind man called Hua Yanjun wrote it.The erhu is a typical symbol of Chinese traditional instrument.
