1. ①"Long distance never separates close friends." It's easier to make new friends rather than saying goodbye to old ones.
②When I was still studying in China, my school held a singing competition. I entered it because I really loved singing. I sang with a girl named Jenny. She's one of my best friends.
③Unluckily, I was nervous and I forgot the lyrics for a moment while we sang. I was standing on stage, looking pale on the face. We lost the competition. I felt terribly sorry, but Jenny tried to comfort me by saying "There will be another chance."
④After about a week, our school's art festival began. I decided to enter it. The first person I thought of to join me was Jenny, although I wasn't sure if she would want to. But while I was asking other people to join me, she said she would join as well. We decided to sing the song See You Again at the festival because I would leave for UK after I finished the performance. We prepared for it for a long time.
⑤Finally, the day of the festival arrived. As I walked into class, people started clapping for me. Someone had written "Sally, Come On!" on the blackboard. My classmates wrote cards for me. After I completed my performance, everyone cheered for me.
⑥It was a really unforgettable and touching afternoon. I want to thank Jenny, who didn't give up on me when I felt down. I want to thank my friends for helping me, and I really want to thank all of my classmates who were with me in my two middle school years as well.

2. For as long as humans have appeared, we have been the most intelligent species (种类) on Earth. Monkeys know how to use simple tools. Elephants can be taught how to count. But things like art, literature, the Internet, and space travel have only been made possible by the amazing intelligence of humans.
And yet, some people believe that we can create machines that can think and feel just like we do. Artificial intelligence, or AI is around us every day. From Apple's voice-activated assistant (声控助手) Siri to the software algorithms (算法) that shipping companies use to deal with deliveries (投递), AI is very much a part of our lives.
But why do we work so hard to create machines that can think the way we do? For one thing, AI can make our lives much easier. Imagine being able to be in a car, tell it the place you want to go to, and sit back in comfort as the AI-guided self-driving car takes you there. We are already getting there—Changsha became the first city in China where we can take self-driving taxis in April 2020.
However, there are risks. What if we somehow produced an artificial intelligence that was smarter than us? How would it behave toward us? These are the kinds of difficult questions that AI researchers ask themselves all the time.
Except for the risks, it is already clear that AI is here to stay. Only time will tell if it will lead us into a new age of prosperity (繁荣), or be our end.
(1)、The first paragraph is mainly about ________.A、showing the possibility of space travel B、showing what fields AI can be used in C、explaining how animals are intelligent D、explaining how intelligence makes humans special(2)、According to the passage, which one is TRUE about AI?A、AI will never be as smart as humans. B、It is not easy to put AI into daily use. C、We might not be able to live without it in the future. D、We can't say for sure how AI will behave toward us.(3)、Which of the following is the writer's opinion of AI?A、It will be good. B、It will be bad. C、It will be part of our future. D、It's risky and horrible.三、C

3. I have just arrived in a country where I don't know the language, where I have no family roots and where I find myself all alone. It may sound frightening. But let me tell you a little secret: it is not.
When you travel abroad by yourself for whatever reason—exchange program, internship, volunteering, or simply as a tourist—a new and fascinating world will open up for you. A world you would have never been able to see if you had just stayed at home.
People from a different country are not aliens. They are simply people like you who happened to be born in another region. They have pretty much the same wishes and worries as people from your own country.
I know that you see a lot of news on TV saying terrible things people do all the time. Your family may have spent a great deal of time telling you not to trust strangers. However, when you travel alone you will realize that people are just as good as you. Everyone is just leading their lives, working, studying and having a good time with their friends. Most people will be happy to help you and get to know you.
Maybe in the past when you would need months to travel from one place to another, traveling could be expensive. Nowadays, the world is just so connected that it is perfectly possible to find cheap flights, accommodation for all budgets and cheap and quality food.
You will get lost, but it's fine! I can't even count how many times I didn't know where I was going or how to find the right direction. Everything looks great on Google maps, but sometimes your phone will die or your data will end. Just calm down. Go to a store or stop someone in the street and ask! Or simply walk around and be curious.
(1)、The author writes about his own experience in paragraph 1 to ________.A、encourage people to travel B、tell the advantages of traveling C、show it is hard to travel alone D、introduce the topic of the passage(2)、The underlined word "aliens" in Paragraph 3 probably refers to people ________.A、who don't like you B、who are different from you C、who are not good-looking D、who have the same wishes as you(3)、We can infer from the passage that ________.A、most people travel abroad alone as tourists B、travelling abroad is better than travelling at home C、it's cheaper and easier to travel abroad now than in the past D、people from a different country are simply people like you四、D

4. In the course of working my way through school, I took many jobs I would rather forget. But none of these jobs was as dreadful as my job in an apple plant. The work was hard; the pay was poor; and, most of all, the working conditions were terrible.
First of all, the job made huge demands on my strength. For ten hours a night, I took boxes that rolled down a metal track and piled them onto a truck. Each box contained twelve heavy bottles of apple juice. I once figured out that I was lifting an average of twelve tons of apple juice every night.
I would not have minded the difficulty of the work so much if the pay had not been so poor. I was paid the lowest wage of that time—two dollars an hour. Because of the low pay, I felt eager to get as much as possible. I usually worked twelve hours a night but did not take home much more than $100 a week.
But even more than the low pay, what made me unhappy was the working conditions. During work I was limited to two ten-minute breaks and an unpaid half hour for lunch. Most of my time was spent outside loading trucks with those heavy boxes in near-zero-degree temperatures. The steel floors of the trucks were like ice, which made my feet feel like stone. And after the production line shut down at night and most people left, I had to spend two hours alone cleaning the floor.
I stayed on the job for five months, all the while hating the difficulty of the work, the poor money, and the conditions under which I worked. By the time I left, I was determined never to go back there again.
(1)、The writer have to take many jobs at that time in order to ________.A、pay for his schooling B、save for his future C、support his family D、gain some experience(2)、What is the subject discussed in the text?A、The writer's unhappy school life. B、The writer's eagerness to earn money. C、The writer's hard work in an apple plant. D、The writer's experience as a full-time worker.(3)、How does the author organize the passage?A、Topic-Argument-Explanation B、Opinion-Discussion-Description C、Main idea-Comparison-Supporting examples D、Introduction-Supporting examples-Conclusion五、E

5. A lost Buddha (佛像) head statue, which recently made the journey back to China, appeared during the Spring Festival Gala of China Central Television. It was its first public show after being successfully sent back from Japan in December.

The head, dating back to the Sui Dynasty (581-618), was originally placed on the northern wall in the No 8 Tianlongshan Grottoes on the suburbs of Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, according to a statement from the National Cultural Heritage Administration (国家文物局).
It was believed to be stolen and lost overseas around 1924, along with about 240 Buddha images that were robbed in the 1920s. This 44.5-cm-high Buddha head is the first among these stolen items to be returned from Japan.
The National Cultural Heritage Administration learned in September a Chinese Buddha head statue labeled as from Tang Dynasty (618-907) was about to be sold in Tokyo, and was thought to be a stolen piece from Tianlongshan.
The administration soon began the process of returning it home. In October, the auction house in Tokyo, whose board chairman Zhang Rong is a Chinese from Hangzhou, agreed to stop the auction.
After discussions between the National Cultural Heritage Administration, Zhang, and the local holder of the relic in Japan, the Buddha head was bought by Zhang and finally given away to the administration.
The transfer ceremony (交接仪式) for the statue was held in the Chinese Embassy (大使馆) in Tokyo in November, and it arrived in Beijing in December.
After being shown on the Spring Festival Gala, the Buddha head statue will be displayed in Beijing Lu Xun Museum from the first day of the Lunar New Year to Mar 14.

B、A lost Buddha head statue returned home after being stolen about a century ago. C、A lost Buddha head statue was the first to return from Japan among lost items. D、A lost Buddha head statue was shown on the Spring Festival Gala of China Central Television.六、根据短文内容,从A-G中选出相应的陈述与之匹配,完成第1-5题。选项中有2项是多余选项。

6. Most people try to become the extroverts (外向的人).. For example, quiet people are good observers. In such a fast-paced world, quiet people, with less time spent chatting, have more energy to observe situations and people. Asked a quiet person their thoughts on a situation or person and you may be surprised to receive an extremely reflective (沉思) answer..
Quiet people think before they speak. In a work discussion with colleagues, the quiet men and women hardly speak suddenly, and instead, they listen carefully. Because they are so selective with words, when they speak, it seems like the whole world stops to listen to what they have to say.
. With their quiet, relaxed temperament (性情), quiet people are often the ears that others run to for advice, and are also respected for their good listening skills and cautious words. Additionally, quiet people rarely annoy others in their presence and they often make others feel at ease.
Quiet people work on a more productive basis. Quiet people tend to be free from the distractions (分心的事) that often come from being around people all day long.. It is common to observe a quiet co-worker, alone in his or her office for hours at a time working on the quiet focus.
A. Quiet people know how to listen.
B. Quiet people seem easy to get along with.
C. It is rare to see a quiet friend speak rudely.
D. So they are able to accomplish a lot on their quiet focus.
E. However, actually quiet people have their own strengths.
