    In England, people can also have summer in winter, or have winter in summer. So in winter they can swim sometimes, and in summer sometimes they should take warm clothes.

    When you go to England, you will see that some English people usually take an umbrella(伞) or a raincoat with them in the sunny morning, but you should not laugh at them. If you don't take an umbrella or a raincoat, you will regret(后悔) later in the day.

    Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, the day when over 46 million turkeys will be at dinner tables all over the USA. There are two lucky turkeys. They are Cobbler and Gobbler. They won't be on the table. They will live happily on George Washington's Mt.

    The 21-week-old birds come from Rockingham County, Virginia. They look the same. But they really have different interests. Cobbler likes pop music, but Gobbler likes classical(古典的) music!

    Now in its 65th year, the turkey pardoning game was started by President Truman. However, this year, President Obama asked people to vote(投票) on Facebook. He wanted to make sure they would like to pardon these two turkeys. But the turkeys know nothing about it. They just want to run away!

    After Thanksgiving Day, the two will leave for their new home. But they have to meet visitors until January 6th, 2012, before going to their new home! We wish Cobbler and Gobbler a long and healthy life.

    It is nice to hike with kids, but you must know something about hiking if you want to take a happy, relaxing trip.

    Start early, know what to do in a heavy rain and carry sunglasses. Take snacks, toilet paper and a bag with you. Take a whistle(口哨) for kids. You may use it if children run away.

    Find a partner. Kids are naturally competitive, and you can use this to your hike. They will try to do better than each other when they go hiking. They also will keep each other interested in something new.

    Do something easy. It's good to play easy games. You can say "Does anybody see anything red that matches my shirt?" Kids will be easy and happy to answer this kind of questions.

    If you aren't excited, they won't be either. When your kids find something they are interested in, you must show your interest in it, too.

    New Year in the UK usually starts with a celebration on New Year's Eve (31st December). Some people spend the evening at home with their family, or have a party for friends at their house. Others go to a pub to celebrate, or spend the evening in a large public space, for example Trafalgar Square in London.

    New Year begins with the bell of Big Ben, the famous London clock, at midnight, which is also shown on TV for those who are staying in.

    In Scotland, New Year is called Hogmanay, and for some people, it's a bigger celebration than Christmas. In big cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow there are street parties with around 100,000 people, enjoying music, entertainment and fireworks at midnight.

    One Scottish tradition which is now popular throughout the UK as well as in the USA, is the singing of a traditional folk song. Auld lang syne, reminds us to think of old friends and remember the good times of the past.

    On New Year's Eve many people enjoy drinking wine, but New Year's Day also means the start of a healthier life, so some people make New Year's resolutions. Often these are connected with fitness and health, for example giving up smoking or drinking, taking more exercise or losing weight. Other people make a resolution to improve their life in other ways, such as spending more time with family, learning something new.

    Many people like to travel by plane, but I don't. The airport is usually far from the city. You have to get there early and wait for hours before the plane takes off and it is often late. You can't open the window. You can't choose the food. Planes are fast but it still takes hours to get out of the airport and into the city.

    I like traveling by train. I think trains are safe. Railway stations are usually in downtown. When you are late for a train, you can catch another. You can walk around in the train and open the windows. You can see many interesting things on your way. I know it takes a little more time. I also like cars. You can start your journey when you want to, and you don't need to get to a railway station or a bus stop. Also you can carry many things with you in a car. But sometimes there are too many cars on the roads.

A: You've been like this since you got here, haven't you?

A: Do you know why?

B:  It's awful. One day it's hot, but the next day it's rainy. No matter what I wear, I'm never dressed properly.

A: You haven't learned to predict the weather here. I've been here for eight years, and I never get sick.

B:

A: Well, there's a weather hot line. Every morning you can call it to find out what the weather will be like during the day.

B: I know that hot line, but I've never called it. I've heard it's expensive.
