This summer, "China Cool" has become a popular topic on overseas social media. According to the National Immigration Administration, more than 22 million foreign visitors entered China in the first half of 2026, with a growth of over 20% year on year. About 17 million of them traveled under convenient visa-free policies (政策), saving them from complicated (复杂的) paperwork.
What makes China so attractive in this changing world? One main reason is the extreme heat in Europe, where temperatures in some areas go above 40℃. In China, however, hotels, subway stations, and shopping malls are well air-conditioned. A French tourist joked online that he even needed to wear sweaters indoors because the cooling was so powerful. Another reason is that many travelers can make____last-minute trips and book flights just a few days before leaving.
Besides these advantages, people's travel tastes are changing. Foreign tourists no longer only visit famous landmarks like the Great Wall. Instead, they are eager (渴望的) to experience local daily life and Chinese culture. In the morning, they try tai chi in parks. In the afternoon, they sip tea in traditional tea houses and learn about Chinese traditions. They want to feel the cool breeze, taste local food, and live like locals.
From busy modern streets to ancient Silk Road sites, visitors get to know a real and lively China. They share their wonderful journeys on social media, which draws more overseas travelers to come in person. "China Cool" is more than a trend (趋势). It shows the world that China is not just a place to see, but a place to feel, explore, and enjoy.
(1)、Why do many foreign tourists choose China this summer?A、To find jobs in Chinese cities. B、To buy cheap air tickets worldwide. C、To avoid the terrible heat in Europe.(2)、What does the underlined phrase "last-minute trips" probably mean?A、Trips planned just before leaving. B、Trips with cheap flight tickets. C、Trips lasting for a few days.(3)、What can we infer about foreign tourists from paragraph 3?A、They refuse to travel to less famous cities. B、They prefer to visit famous landmarks only. C、They are more interested in Chinese daily life.(4)、What is the best title for the passage?A、A Trip Along the Silk Road. B、A New Trend: "China Cool". C、A Different Way to Travel.3. 阅读下列材料,从每题所给的A、B、C三个选项中,选出最佳选项。
Yin Yuzhen is widely known in China as the "desert-control queen". She is an inspiring pioneer who has spent more than forty years turning a terrible desert into green land in Inner Mongolia.
In 1985, at the age of 19, Yin moved there with her husband, Bai Wanxiang. The living conditions were terrible. Strong winds blew sand non-stop, and sand piles would often block their door. There were few trees and almost no shade (阴凉处). She once feared being trapped (受困于) with nobody to give a hand. Facing a shortage of food and water, many people believed the land was too difficult to change.
However, Yin refused to give in. She made up her mind to plant trees. She carried heavy young trees with simple tools. She learned how to protect the young plants from strong winds. Gradually, green plants began to appear. With the strong support and efforts of the local people, more than 70000 mu of sandy land around their home has been improved. This was a great achievement for the whole village.
In 1999, an American teacher named Ronald Sakolsky learned about Yin's efforts on a TV program. Deeply moved by her spirit, he raised $5000 from US groups to support her work. The money helped Yin get better equipment (设备) and stronger young trees. Later, Sakolsky visited her home. Unluckily, they lost contact after he returned to the US. Twenty-six years passed, and Yin posted a short video online to look for him. With public help, they got in touch again.
When they finally met, tears rolled down their faces. Their cross-border friendship shows that determination and kindness are powerful enough to change the world.
(1)、What was the living condition like when Yin Yuzhen first arrived in Inner Mongolia?A、It was comfortable with plenty of food. B、It was full of green trees and friendly villagers. C、It was terrible and often troubled by sandstorms.(2)、What can we infer about the local people from Paragraph 3?A、They played an important role in improving the sandy land. B、They decided to leave the village because of the hard life. C、They refused to help Yin Yuzhen plant trees at first.(3)、Why did Ronald Sakolsky decide to help Yin Yuzhen?A、Because he wanted to become well-respected in China. B、Because he was deeply moved by her courage and hard work. C、Because he planned to move to Inner Mongolia and plant trees.(4)、What is the main idea of the passage?A、Spreading determination and kindness can change the world. B、Making short videos online is the best way to find old friends. C、Living in the desert makes people feel afraid and hopeless.二、阅读(共两节,满分30分)第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

In the village, there are now more than 60 "bird guides" like Hou and more than 20 guesthouses. Bird-watching tourism increased the income (收入) of the villagers by over 15 million yuan in 2020. "During the busy season, I serve nearly 100 tourists a day. And I have served visitors from more than 100 countries and areas. We are leading a better life now," Hou said, adding that he takes his grandson with him every day to feed birds and teaches him to love them.

Zhang Xue is a famous Chinese businessman and motorcycle racer. He was born in a small village in Hunan in 1987. His story is very inspiring for young people. In 2006, when he was 19, he did something amazing to get noticed. He rode his old motorcycle for 100 kilometers in the heavy rain just to follow a TV reporter. He wanted a chance to show his skills. His hard work paid off, and he became a professional racer.
