In fact, they are so popular that people regard them as part of ancient Chinese history and culture. What do these Chinese titles refer to? Have you ever wondered what the stories behind these titles are?
Chinese people in the past or even sometimes today call their sons quanzi. When Chinese parents use quanzi to refer to their sons, they are being modest (谦逊的). Although most parents do think their children are successful, they try to belittle them in front of other people. This is similar to how some rich Chinese people call their big houses hanshe, which means"my poor home".
Although people are modest about themselves, they respect others a lot. They call their own sons quanzi, but call others' sons linglang. a respectful way to say"your son".
In Chinese, kaimo means the"role model". Both of these Chinese characters have a"木" on their left side. People believe that kai and mo were two kinds of trees in ancient China. It was said that there were many kai trees growing near Confucius' tomb (墓). The kai trees were so straight that they made people think of Confucius' character———— straight and honest. People believed that the mo trees grew near the tomb of the Duke of Zhou. Similarly, the color of the mo tree's leaves made the tree a symbol of integrity (正直).
Since the kaiand mo trees grew near the tombs of the two respected people, kaimo was then used to refer to role models.
(1)、Ancient Chinese used the title ____ to introduce their son to others in a modest way.A、quanzi B、kaimo C、hanshe D、linglang(2)、What does the underlined word"belittle" mean in Paragraph 2?A、Push sb. to move quickly. B、Provide sb. with some advice. C、Make sb. seem unimportant. D、Give sb. some encouragement.(3)、Which of the following about kaimo is NOT true?A、It refers to the role models. B、It's from the kai and mo trees. C、We can use it to describe honest people. D、We see it as a symbol of modesty.(4)、What does the passage mainly talk about?A、The importance of ancient Chinese culture. B、The meanings of different Chinese titles. C、The stories about Confucius and the Duke of Zhou. D、The ways of being a straight and honest person.4. 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中选出最佳选项。Does life sometimes seem to be full of impossible problems? How many times, for example, do you find yourself saying things like"I really don't understand this Maths problem", or"I can't get into the school team"?
Well, maybe it's time to introduce yourself to the power of"yet". By adding this simple word, you can change everything. "I really don't understand this Maths problem yet. ""I can't get into the school team yet. " Suddenly, the impossible becomes possible. You can imagine those things happening.
I read about a school that has changed the way it marks its students' exams. The school find out that the old pass/ fail system wasn't helping students' motivation(积极性). If you passed, then great, but those students who didn't pass often felt like failures. So now students who don't pass the exams will not see a big red F on their papers; they see a"Not yet" instead. That way the students feel that they are on a journey. They haven't reached the end, but they know that they are going the right way.
This kind of thinking is part of what experts call"having a growth mindset". People with a growth mindset don't concentrate on failure. They aren't worried by not getting things right the first time and are happy to keep trying until they do. They enjoy the challenge and believe they can change. In contrast, people who just focus on the failure have what the experts call"a fixed mindset". These people are always worried about failure and are happy to give up when things don't go right. They don't think that they are able to change. Clearly, it is better to have a growth mindset than a fixed mindset.
But don't worry if you think that you have a fixed mindset____. Remember that it all starts with questioning the things you believe about yourself. Stop believing that you can't or you haven't and realize that you just can't or haven't yet. Once you start doing this, you' ll wonder why you didn't do it before. It's one small but very powerful word.
(1)、Why does the writer give the example in Paragraph' 2?A、To express a feeling! B、To describe a problem. C、To show the result. D、To support the topic.(2)、According to the passage, which one of the following has"a growth mindset"?A、Jack got an"A" in the exam. He was quite happy to tell his parents. B、David failed in a competition, but he stays confident and keeps trying. C、Jenny found it hard to work out the maths problem, so she gave it up. D、Emma was refused by school team. She didn't want to have another try.(3)、Which of the following can be put into____.A、Experts will help you grow up healthily in mind. B、Everyone has his own advantages and disadvantages. C、You can train yourself to develop a growth mindset. D、You can change everything by adding the small word"yet".(4)、Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?A、The Power of"Yet" B、Two Different Mindsets C、Nothing Is Impossible D、On the Way to Success二、第一部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)第二节 任务型阅读(共5 小题,每小题 2 分,满分 10 分)

Being a teenager is not easy these days. You have to face new problems and try to find out how to deal with them. You' re wondering how to fit into society.
Teenagers have always had these problems, but young people today live in a world that is changing so fast. They will have too many choices. But it can also be a bad thing as it may cause"mental internal friction(精神内耗)".
Scientists say that"mental internal friction' happens when people have to think a lot in order to be able to move from"old ideas" to"new ideas". They have to ask themselves such questions as"Are the new ideas good?" and"Will they make me feel happy?" That's because they are still too young to make the right choices. So they may feel tired, unhappy and even have trouble sleeping at night.
But don't lose heart if you have these problems. There are some ways to solve them. First, you must know yourself. Second, develop new interests. A friend of mine decided to learn aboutBeijing Opera. He said that learning about"old things" made it easier for him to deal with the"new things" in modern life. Connecting with nature can help you know yourself and make you feel relaxed.
A. This can be good as it means more chances
B The third thing you can do is spend time in nature.
C. Teenagers shouldn't be allowed to have part-time jobs.
D And then there are worries about school grades and future jobs.
E It's difficult to find the answers especially for young people.
What should we do to avoid mental internal friction?(不超过 15 词)
