When Sally decided to improve her health, she took up running. She found  running was enjoyable, with beautiful sights in her town.

High in the cloud forests of Guatemala, local people once faced a big problem. Collecting plastic waste from the mountain village was very hard, so plastic waste added up.  What's worse, it polluted the beautiful place and hurt wild animals. 

Without complaining (抱怨) about plastic waste, the villagers noticed plastic is an amazing thing — it is strong, keeps water out, and doesn't break easily. Then, they thought of a smart idea: making ecobricks (生态砖)!

What is an ecobrick? It is a special building brick from plastic waste. Making ecobricks is easy. You need to first get two basic things: plastic bottles and a stick. After that, collect plastic waste and then clean and dry the collected waste well. When the plastic is dry, start putting it into the bottles, then take the stick and push the plastic down. Keep adding plastic and pushing until the bottle is full and feels very hard, then close it  — now a strong and hard ecobrick is ready, and you can use it to build all kinds of simple things. 

    ▲     The Guatemalan village now has a new school. The use of ecobricks has also reached other places.  In South Africa, people mixed them with clay (陶土) or sand to make flower pots and seats. In the UK, one school turned two tons of plastic into 3, 000 ecobricks and built an outdoor classroom. Ecobricks are quite a simple way for locals to turn plastic waste into strong, cheap building bricks and stop it from becoming pollution. 

Ecobricks give us a chance to turn plastic waste into something good. A little creativity can turn problems into something helpful and make lives better. So, try to solve problems with your creativity!

It might be strange to wear clothes made from plastic bottles. But in fact, some clothing companies are already making clothes 1 these. 

Fashion brand JUMA recently showed its newest collection at a workshop in Shanghai. The jackets, shirts and dresses at the workshop were all 2 recycled plastic bottles. "We realise that billions of plastic bottles are thrown into landfills and oceans every year and these 3 take hundreds of years to decompose (分解). We think we should use them to create our 4 and help the environment, " said Alia Juma, the company's designer. 

Many other fashion companies are looking for 5 ways to save our earth these days. The process is rather 6 . First, the plastic bottles are washed and 7 into small pieces. Then they are melted (熔化) and shaped into small 8 . The balls are melted again to form thread (线). People then use the thread to make different kinds of clothes.
