I joined a jazz music camp with my friends last summer. 

Early on Monday morning, we met at the train station.  After hugging our parents goodbye, we 1 the train with our guitar cases and drumsticks.

Louis Armstrong, one of the greatest jazz musicians in history, was born in New Orleans in 

1901.  He grew up in a poor neighborhood, but he fell in love with music at a young age.  When he was 11, he got into trouble and was sent to a boys' home.  There, he learned to play the trumpet (小号) and discovered his talent. 

After leaving the home, Armstrong started playing in local bands.  He quickly became famous for his unique style—his trumpet playing was full of energy, and he could sing with a rough, warm voice.  In the 1920s, he made his first recordings, which made him known all over the United States. 

Armstrong traveled around the world to perform.  He played for kings and queens, and he even appeared in movies.  He believed that music could bring people together, no matter their background.  He once said, "Music is life itself. "

He died in 1971, but his music still influences musicians today.  Many people call him the "King of Jazz". 

Music is an important part of every culture.  Different countries have their own traditional music that tells stories of their people. 

In India, classical music has a history of over 2,000 years.  It uses instruments like the sitar (西塔琴) and tabla (塔布拉鼓).  Indian classical music focuses on improvisation (即兴创作)—musicians often change the melody during a performance. 

In West Africa, drum music is very popular.  Drums are used in festivals, weddings, and even for sending messages.  The djembe (金贝鼓), a hand drum, is one of the most famous instruments.  People play it to express joy or sadness. 

In Japan, traditional music includes the koto (古筝), a string instrument that sounds soft and calm.  Many traditional Japanese songs are about nature, like mountains and rivers. 

No matter where you go, music is a way to share feelings and connect with others. 

Our school's music club holds a "Music Week" every year.  Last week, we had our most successful one yet!

On Monday, we started with a music history lecture.  A local musician talked about the development of pop music from the 1950s to today.  We learned many interesting facts—like how the Beatles changed the world of music. 

On Wednesday, we held a talent show.  Students played different instruments, sang songs, and even danced to their favorite music.  My friend Lily played a beautiful piano piece, and she won first prize. 

On Friday, we had a big concert.  We invited parents and other students to come.  The club members performed together—we played a mix of classical and pop songs.  Everyone clapped and cheered loudly. 

At the end of the week, we voted for the "Most Fun Activity".  The talent show won! We all agreed that Music Week was a great way to share our love of music. 

Many families in our neighborhood love music.   Parents play old rock songs while cooking, and kids practice their instruments after school.  But we rarely have time to enjoy music together.  So our community decided to organize a "Family Music Night". 

After two weeks of planning, the night finally arrived.  We put up colorful posters around the neighborhood and invited everyone to bring their instruments or just come to listen. 

On Family Music Night, we set up a small stage in the park.   Some families sang popular songs together, and a group of kids played the violin and guitar.  We also had a "music game" where people guessed the name of a song from a short melody. 

 Everyone laughed and clapped along.  Even people who didn't play an instrument joined in—they danced or sang along with the music. 

 We decided to have Family Music Night every month.  It's a great way to bring families closer together through music. 

Last weekend, my classmates and I went to a music festival in the city center.  We went there  bus.  When we  at the festival site, there were already hundreds of people there. 

First, we walked around and looked at different —guitars, violins, and even some unusual ones like the didgeridoo (迪吉里杜管).  The sellers were very  and told us how to play some simple notes. 

Then we watched a band .  They played rock music, and everyone danced to the rhythm.  It was  exciting that we sang along loudly. 

For lunch, we ate some snacks and talked about  we liked best so far.  In the afternoon, we joined a "music workshop" where we learned to play a simple song together.  We  every minute of it. 

At 6:00 p. m. , we took the bus back home.   a great day it was! We all agreed that we would go to more music festivals with  friends next year. 

The winter vacation is coming, and I have a big music plan.  I want to go to different  (place) to experience different styles of music. 

I'm a  (music) student and I love playing the violin.  But this year, I want to try something new.  I'm  (interest) in traditional Chinese music,  I plan to go to Beijing to learn to play the erhu (二胡).  I  (leave) on January 20th and come back on February 5th. 

I think I will have a fantastic vacation.  During the trip, I  (visit) a music school and take erhu lessons every day.  I also plan to go to concerts to listen to professional erhu players.  At night, I  (write) down what I learn in a diary.
