Hello, I am Song Lingdong, a 34-year-old astronaut from Tiangong. Let me tell you something about my daily life in space (太空).

I get up early every morning. Before having breakfast, I brush my teeth and wash my face with special wipes (湿巾). There is no gravity (重力) here. So I can't use running water (水).

All the food is dry here. Food with no water is hard to eat, so I sometimes put it into water before eating. Drinking is not easy. I need to be very careful when drinking water.

I often work for long hours. But the life is never (从不) boring. When I am free, I enjoy reading books and listening to music. I usually take photos of the earth. It is my home. I sometimes have video calls with my family.

Exercising is another important part of my daily life. With no gravity, I have to use special instruments to keep me strong (强壮).

With no gravity, everything floats (漂浮) around. So I have to get into a sleeping bag (睡袋) when I go to bed.

Life as an astronaut is exciting. I really have a wonderful time in space.

Li Ming lives in the year 2075. Let's look at his usual day and see how life has changed with technology (科技)!

At 7:00 a.m., Li Ming wakes up. His AI robot (called Xiaoai) has already made breakfast—warm porridge and steamed buns (包子). Xiaoai even knows Li Ming's favorite taste and changes (调整) the salt just right. Before, Li Ming's mom had to get up early to cook, but now Xiaoai does it quickly.

After breakfast, Li Ming doesn't go to school. He has online classes at home. His special 3D screen (特制3D屏幕) (like a 3D TV) shows his teacher and classmates. They can talk and do group work just like in a real classroom. Li Ming doesn't need to carry heavy books—all his textbooks are in the screen.

At 12:30 p.m., Li Ming wants to play basketball. It's raining outside, but his home has a smart (智能) sports room. The room can change its size (大小) and make "sunshine" with lights. He plays with Xiaoai, which can be a basketball partner, too!

In the evening, Li Ming's family has dinner together. Xiaoai helps clean the table after eating. Then Li Ming talks to his grandma, who lives in another city, through a floating video call (悬浮视频通话)—it feels like grandma is sitting next to him. Before, they could only make voice calls.

Li Ming goes to bed at 9:30 p.m. He thinks life in 2075 is easy and fun, all because of AI and new technology!

Shenzhou-20 Astronauts Returned Safely to Earth

On the afternoon of November 14th, 2025, the three astronauts of the Shenzhou-20 spaceship — Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie — safely landed at the Dongfeng Landing Site. They returned aboard the Shenzhou-21 spaceship, successfully completing their 204-day mission in space. 

At first, the astronauts were scheduled to return earlier. However, they had to wait nine days longer because a piece of space debris (碎片) hit the spaceship and made a small crack (裂痕) in one of Shenzhou-20's windows. 

China had prepared a good backup plan for such situations. Following the plan, the crew transferred to the Shenzhou-21 spaceship for their return journey. This was the first time in China's space history that a different working spaceship was used to bring astronauts back to Earth. During the extra days in orbit, the Shenzhou-20 crew continued to work with the Shenzhou-21 astronauts, carrying out valuable scientific experiments together. 

Throughout their long mission, the Shenzhou-20 team completed many important tasks. They performed four spacewalks, moved cargo many times, and did a series of scientific experiments. One successful experiment involved heating a special metal called tungsten alloy (钨合金) to an extremely high temperature of 3100℃.  

This smooth and safe return shows the strength and trust of China's space program. The well-prepared repair plan was carried out effectively. The ground team worked together to finish the mission perfectly, and the intelligent spacecraft responded well. After landing, all astronauts were in good health. The mission marks another great achievement for China in space exploration.

How to go to space

On 30th October, 2024 Shenzhou XIX is sent into space. That is the nineteenth manned spaceship since Yang Liwei reached for the stars in 2003 on Shenzhou V. Have you ever dreamed of becoming an astronaut? 

To be an astronaut, you need to be healthy. Good eyesight, a strong heart and lungs (心肺) are important. You'd better not have other small problems. For example, you can't have scars (伤疤). They may split in space.   

Become stronger with hard training.          

In China, you must be a great pilot before being an astronaut. You must fly more than 600 hours without accidents.  You will wear a 200-kilogram suit and do tasks underwater for 6 or 7 hours without eating or going to the toilet. 

Learn science.

Knowledge is important as well. Astronauts take 60 lessons to get ready for a mission, including Maths, English, spaceship design, physics and many more.

Even if you are great enough to become a backup (备用的) astronaut, . During the Shenzhou XIII mission, only three astronauts can go into space. But there are another 13 backup astronauts. They can't go. They are the unsung heroes of the space programme. 

"Boys and girls, let's welcome Stella Vega, a great astronaut (宇航员)!" Mr Smith says. Ms Vega walks onto the stage and says, "Hello, everyone! It's great  (meet) you here."

Ms Vega starts sharing  (she) story with the students. The class listens  (quiet). "In space, everything floats(漂浮). As  (冠词) result eating, sleeping and washing your face are adventures," Ms Vega says. "One of my favourite  (thing) is looking out of the window. The Earth looks like a beautiful blue water ball."
