It was a cold winter morning. My 12-year-old granddaughter, Jayne, sent me 1 on the phone when she was on her trip to our house in Virginia, the US.

Many teenagers today care about their health and try different ways to keep fit. But what is the right way? Letˈs read the four studentsˈ stories.

In 1969, John Rendall and his friend Anthony Bourke saw a cute baby lion in a shop in London. They bought him, took him home and called him Christian. John and Anthony looked after Christian very well. They always spoke to Christian kindly. They played with him and took him for walks. They drove him around the city in their car and even took him to the beach. Some people thought they were mad (疯狂的).

Christian lived with John and Anthony happily for about a year. He was never angry and he was not dangerous. However, he grew quickly. Soon, Christian was too big to live in their house, so John and Anthony decided to take him to Africa. At first, it was not easy for Christian, but slowly, he learnt and did well.

After a year, John and Anthony went back to see Christian. To find Christian, they spent a long time. Finally, they found Christian with a few other lions. Christian walked to them slowly. Then, suddenly, he recognized (认出) them. He ran over and jumped on them. He hugged them warmly. They were really happy that Christian didn't forget them!

John and Anthony visited Christian again another year later. Christian had a family and two babies, but he still jumped happily around John and Anthony. He was too big and knocked (碰撞) them down easily. John and Anthony were sad to leave him, but they were also glad to see Christian living freely in Africa.

Every school has its own rules. Some rules help us stay safe, some help us learn better, and some are just for keeping things in order. Let's look at the four students' school rules.

Michael is from Green Hill School in London. Students mustn't eat food in class, and running in the hallways is also forbidden. If they break any school rule, they will get punished (惩罚), like cleaning the blackboard or watering the plants.

Cindy, who is thirteen, lives in Seoul. She and her classmates must arrive at school early. They need to read for at least 20 minutes every morning. Being late will be recorded, and their parents will get a message from the school.

Leo is a fourteen-year-old boy in Tokyo. There are many rules in his school. In his school, students mustn't fight (打架) or use bad words. They can't listen to music in the classroom, but after class, they can use headphones to relax.

Alex is thirteen and he is a student from Paris. In his school, it's important for students to be polite. They must respect all their teachers and be kind to their classmates. If they use bad words, they will have to say sorry in front of the class.

Though these four students are from different countries and their school rules are a little different, all the rules are made to help students study better and live a safe, happy school life. Just as the saying goes, "  ▲ ".

It was about 10:00 p.m. on Friday night, October 24. A group of children was shining their lights at the huge dinosaur skeleton.

This was not a cool film, but a wonderful sleepover activity (夜宿活动) at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Once a month, children and their parents can spend the night at the museum. The museum first started its "Night at the Museum" activity in 2006. It became famous because of a great film with the same name.

A few hundred children aged 6 to 12 arrived at the museum at 6:00 p.m. They brought their parents, big sleeping bags and their own diaries. Some were already wearing their soft night clothes.

The children went on a night tour. First, they visited the dinosaur halls. They also played fun games and had sweet snacks before bedtime. Near 12 o'clock at night, they got into their beds to listen to a reading. It was a children's book, The Night at the Museum, which came out in 1993.

The next morning, they had breakfast early, and then the activity ended. Everyone got a small gift and a free visit in the museum's opening hours.

"We walked close to the dinosaurs, and all the lights were off. It was such a special and wonderful experience for us," said Jaclyn Rice Nelson, the mother of an 8-year-old girl. A little boy shouted, "It's very, very cool! The dark museum and big dinosaurs are amazing. I enjoyed this fun night and I really want to come here again."

Lionel Messi is a great soccer player. He was born in 1987 in Argentina. He started playing football when he was a child. You may think he lived  a happy life, but he didn't. At 11, something  happened. He faced a health problem and couldn't grow tall. His family could not help him much. Luckily, a club helped him. At 13, he moved to Barcelona and  football hard day and night. He always prepared well for all the . He succeeded and became a great player .

After he becomes a great player, Messi still keeps working hard. He gets up early every morning and never arrives late for practice. He is  (友好的) to his teammates.  (如果) he makes mistakes in games, he listens to others' advice. He always says, "We work as a team, and we win or  (失败) as a team. " On the field, he follows all the rules. And he always  (对待) others with respect.

To keep healthy, he has good eating  (习惯). He often eats grains, vegetables and fresh fruits. He  (几乎不) eats sandwiches because they are not healthy. The day before a match, he has a big dinner to keep  (他自己) full of energy. Twelve hours before the match, he doesn't eat  (任何事物). He has enough time to sleep and  (休息). An hour before it, he eats pears, apples or bananas. They have little sugar, because too much sugar makes him  (困倦的). His spirit encourages more people to love soccer and keep trying.

Once upon a time, a man had  lovely garden. There was a tree with many big  (leaf). Some vegetables grew under it. They made the garden beautiful. The man was very happy with it. , the tree and vegetables didn't like each other. The tree said, "The water is all  (I), and you always drink my water. " The vegetables didn't like the tree's shadow (阴影).

One day, the vegetables decided  (take) all the water. The tree became angry and didn't give them shadow. The man was so sad and stopped watering them. All of them felt really thirsty.  could they do? No one knew. But a vegetable tried his best to grow and grow.

He grew quite big, so the man began to take good care  it. The man also gave the tree and other vegetables water again.  (final), they got enough water again and grew strong. They knew they must  (help) each other and work together. They  (promise) to make the garden beautiful once more.

※One thing I learnt today: Farming isn't easy! It made me think of the saying, "Every grain comes from  ." (这让我想起了一句谚语："粒粒皆辛苦.") The farmer let us take some vegetables home. My mum cooked some for dinner, and they were fresh and delicious! They certainly   when you work for them! (自己亲手劳动得来的果实，自然更加美味!) Today was really a day to remember.
