I was reading my diary from four years ago. How time flies! Back then, I was so disappointed at being too short and failing to get on the basketball team. I couldn't help laughing at my heartbreaking words then. Basketball was really a big deal for1 . But things changed soon after that.

The Green Planet, a new BBC film about nature, gives us a surprising look at plants. It came out on January 10, and people can watch it online. The film tells us about the amazing ways that plants live.

____ In some hot and wet forests, different plants fight for sunlight. The ground under the trees is like a "battlefield (战场)", since only 2% of the sunlight reaches the ground. Some plants open up their big leaves to get more light. At the same time, they are covered by thin plants that try to climb higher for light. But one kind of tree grows faster, because it has slippery (湿滑的) hairs on its leaves. Other plants can't cling to it.

Plants also help each other and even "talk". In dry places, the roots of some trees are connected. If a tree finds water, it will share it with others. Studies show that plants use small living things in the earth to communicate. If one plant gets ill, it can tell nearby plants so that they can protect themselves from the illness.

The film helps us understand that plants are important. "Plants are necessary for all life. We depend on them for food and air," said David. It's time to look after wild plants as carefully as our house plants.

There is a "boiling river" deep in the Amazon rainforest. Local people lived close to this special river for many years and  asked why the water ran hot. They did not think it was strange. A young scientist named Andres Ruzo  the story from his grandfather and wanted to find the truth.

In 2011, Andres set out on his journey. He walked deep into the forest and  found the river. The water was so  that it could cook eggs.  he was tired after the long journey, he started to collect information right away. "I couldn't believe my eyes," he said. "The river gets its heat from the earth , not from volcanoes (火山)." This tells us that the earth has great  under the ground.

Andres's work helped people understand that the earth is like a living body. It has great energy inside. If we are not careful enough, human activities may  this balance. "We should take  to protect nature," Andres said. "Using clean energy like solar power can help us improve  lives without harming the environment. We can use modern technology wisely. Then we can achieve a better future for both humans and the natural world."
