②But at the beginning, these reforms were not easily carried out. Only a few people in the state understood Shang's talent and the advantages of his plans. Most people had little trust and confidence in him. 

③To solve this problem, Shang came up with an idea. He ordered some soldiers to put a thin wooden pole at the south gate of the Qin state capital. This attracted many people. Then, in front of the crowd, he said loudly, "People of Qin, whoever takes this pole to the north gate will get a reward of 10 gold pieces. "

④It was a simple task and the reward was big. Some people passed and no one stepped forward. They all thought that Shang was joking. Hearing no answer, Shang stepped forward and said, "I will increase the reward to 50 gold pieces. "

⑤The words sounded even more unbelievable. Finally, a man from the crowd came forward to take the pole. He put the pole on his shoulders and walked to the north gate. True to his word, Shang paid the man 50 gold pieces. 

⑥Soon, the people were saying that Shang was a man of his word. When he began promoting (推行) his reforms, the people followed and did not question him. 

⑦Under the great reforms, Qin grew strong and united all the states, becoming the first empire (帝国) of China. Later, people drew the Chinese idiom"立木取信" from this story. 

In recent years, plank exercise（平板支撑）has become more and more popular. It's easy to find a proper place to do plank exercise. You can even do it with a chair But you should use a stable chair to ensure your safety. It is dangerous if the chair moves during exercise. Moreover, doing plank exercise regularly may bring you lots of benefits. 

Performing plank exercise as a daily home exercise before or after school will not only speed up your metabolism（新陈代谢）, but also keep your metabolic rate（速率）high all day long. Doing it regularly will make you burn lots of calories（卡路里）. This is especially useful if you have to sit in the classroom for hours every day. A high metabolic rate will help you lose weight and keep in good shape.

But the excitement is not just about a celebrity's hobby. There's something deeper. Young people today are looking for new ways to connect with nature in their cities. Waiting behind the camera and watching their furry friends is just the right thing. Slowing down can bring them the comfort they need. 

The Journey of Self-Discovery

People make long journeys to different countries. Some even make a way to space. However, the biggest journey is the self-discovery journey. How can you start the journey of self-discovery? Here are some tips for you. 

Find out your most valuable ability. You may have different kinds of abilities. It could be about your ability to create, your ability to understand others or your skills at football. But which of them are you proud of?  This will help you know yourself better. 

Know what makes you excited.  It could be when you are performing a dance on stage, when you help your dad fix his computer or even when you are doing research on your school science project. 

Get out of your comfort zone (舒适区). It is always comfortable to stay in your familiar (熟 悉的) area. However, in order to discover yourself, you need to put yourself in some uncomfortable situations.  For example, you can go out for a difficult rock climbing. This will give you a chance to learn more about how you feel, think and react when the challenge comes. 

 It is also a powerful way to discover things about yourself. When you are in a

different place where people share different thoughts, you may have a chance to rethink about what you always believe. 

People may want to finish the journey as soon as possible. As you go through life, many experiences can change you, and this helps you grow. The journey to self-discovery is life's greatest adventure.

On April 19, 2025, the world's first humanoid robot half-marathon(人形机器人半程马拉松) attracted great attention. 

A total of 20 humanoid robots entered the race. These robots (develop) by different teams in China and showed different levels of abilities. Before the race started, engineers checked every part of the robots (careful) to make sure that they were in good condition. They fixed the robots' joints(关节), updated programs and improved (they) power systems. 

However, the race turned out to be a huge challenge for the robots. Right from the start, some robots faced problems like dead (battery) and broken parts. Only six robots managed (complete) the race. Tiangong Ultra finished the half-marathon in 2 hours and 40 minutes, far ahead of the race's (two) winner. 

there were difficulties, this humanoid robot half marathon is still a significant step forward in robotic engineering. It also makes us think about  relationship between humans and robots. As robots become (powerful) than before, how will they fit into our lives? Maybe  the future, we will see robots help us in more areas, from daily chores to difficult jobs.
