Will you chat with strangers（陌生人）? Some people would say no. However, research shows that starting a conversation with a stranger can make you enjoy your day more.

One day after work, Emma saw a man who was sitting alone on a bench（长椅）in the park. She wanted to talk to him, but she wasn't sure whether he would like to chat. She once tried speaking to a lady on a bench in a hospital, but the lady said sorry and refused politely. However, this man seemed sad. so Emma finally made a decision. She walked up to him and said hi. Then they began a long conversation. When they had to say goodbye, the man thanked Emma, "Your words warmed my heart and made my day." His words also made Emma happy for the rest of the day.

This experience gave Emma a good idea. The next day, she made signs to put up on the park benches, which said,"Happy-to-Chat Bench. Sit here if you don't mind talking with others!"The idea soon became a great success. More and more people came to sit on the benches, waiting to be talked to. Now,"Happy-to-Chat Benches"can be found in many countries.

So, next time you see someone sitting alone, give them a smile and say hello. They might be happy to talk to you. You'll never know until you give it a try.

①AI is used to help solve problems in many fields now. Here's how it helps save energy, protect animals, and reduce pollution.

②In many office buildings, people sometimes forget to turn off the lights or the air conditioners(空调). As a result, a lot of electricity is wasted. Thanks to AI, the problem can be solved. It learns what the temperature is and how many people are inside the buildings. Then it makes thousands of small changes to save electricity every day. No single change is big, but all of them together can make a big difference.

③Another problem is about hunting wild animals. You can't imagine how many kinds of wild animals around the world are in danger now. Luckily, AI can collect all the data(数据) to learn from the past hunting events. Then it can guess where the hunters will go next. It was once used in a certain area, and the number of hunting events dropped from 19 a month to zero.

④How can AI help reduce pollution? To clean up plastic waste from the ocean, you first need to know where it is. However, it's difficult because the ocean is too wide. But with satellites(人造卫星), AI can quickly make a map to show where the plastic is. This helps clean up the ocean much more efficiently, because the ships can be sent to the right places to collect the plastic waste quickly.

⑤However, none of these benefits come for free. Training AI also uses a lot of energy. So we should make wise choices.

How to Burn More Calories（卡路里）When Walking

Walking is a low-cost, easy-to-do exercise that almost anyone can do. It is only good for your brain, but it also helps you lose weight. Do you want to burn more calories when walking? 

●Walk fast enough. It is clear that you will burn more calories if you walk farther. However, you may not have enough time. Studies show that you will burn more calories if you walk faster.  This may help you save time.

●  You don't have to follow a strict speed plan all the time. It means that you needn't always walk fast. In fact, changing your walking speed will burn about 20% more calories thatn walking at the same speed. So just try walking fast for some time, and then slow down. Repeat that several times.

●Walking without eating. It's never a good idea to exercise without eating.  It is because walking won't use up your energy quickly. But if you want to walk in the early morning, it's better to eat something before you go out.

I'm writing to express my thanks to you. When I was in junior high school, I often failed exams. But you never gave up on me. Instead, you always encouraged me to find my real interest. Because of you, I found I was good at repairing things.

After graduation, I decided to major（主修）in car repair. But my parents didn't agree. After knowing about it, you came to my home and had a long talk with my parents. To my surprise, they changed their mind and supported me. You would never know how thankful I was at that time. I still remember your words, "All roads lead to Rome."
