"For thousands of years, humans have raced to be the first… Now, in some cases, we're racing to be the last," said The New York Times' Paige McClanahan. This is the spirit at the heart of last-chance tourism, a rising industry.

Last-chance tourism is about seeing the last of something, that's to say, visiting places before they disappear. Rising temperature and water levels mean that we may never get another chance to see certain islands, glaciers (冰川), animals, and so on before they disappear.

This may sound sad, but some people are using last-chance tourism as a way to spread environmental awareness (意识). One example is "the Sea of Ice" in Chamonix, France. The Chamonix ski resort (度假村) opened a glacier museum in 2012. There tourists can learn about glaciers and how climate change influences places like "the Sea of Ice". This effort seems to have an effect. A survey showed that 80 percent of visitors would "try to learn more about the environment and how to protect it".

Although it has these advantages, last-chance tourism may also be speeding up the effects of climate change. As more people rush to endangered natural places, they create a big carbon (碳) footprint, leading to the destruction of these places in the end.

At the end of the day, it's not just about understanding the need to stop climate change; it's even more important to avoid making it more terrible.

According to a report on April 1, 2026, by MIT Technology Review, a new kind of part-time job is becoming popular around the world. People are now getting paid to record their daily housework at home, providing real action data(数据) to train human-like robots.  

Most of these part-time workers come from countries like Nigeria, India and the Philippines. They wear small cameras on their heads and film simple daily tasks, such as washing dishes, cleaning rooms, using household things and making simple meals. At about 15 dollars an hour, the pay is much better than most local part-time jobs.  

A tech company called Micro1 has asked thousands of workers in over 50 countries to collect real-life behavior data. All recorded videos first go through an AI check, and then workers carefully mark every human movement by hand.  

Different from computer simulations(模拟), which cannot help robots deal with the messy and changing home environment, real human action videos let machines learn natural, useful movements easily. This first-person video data is exactly what makes human-like robots able to live in daily family life.

But this new trend (趋势) also causes wide public worries. Recording private home life brings possible risks, and many people have asked questions about whether the collection and use of personal data are allowed properly. Even with these worries, the report says that real human data has become a necessary part of the future development of home robots.

Common daily housework has become valuable for AI development. As robot technology improves, these part-time workers will still be necessary for the growth of smart home robots all over the world.

The term "social phobia (社交恐惧症)" seems to have taken on popularity these days. Young people in particular are describing themselves as having it. They prefer not to go out much, saying that it's hard for them to make new friends or socialize.  The answer is "no".

In fact, this is just a reaction to certain social situations. US researcher Ty Tashiro wrote the book Awkward (笨拙): The Science of Why We ' re Socially Awkward and Why That's Awesome.  As a result, they end up feeling uncomfortable.

For example, they might be afraid of breaking some kind of unspoken rule.  This might make them unwilling to socialize. They prefer to stay in instead of going out to meet new people. But this doesn't mean they have social phobia.

Social worry is not the same as real social phobia, which is much more serious.  But they are so afraid of doing it that they cannot leave their homes. Their brains simply won't allow them to interact with others in a normal way. People with social phobia disorder can even experience panic attacks (惊恐发作).

 Some people use self-help books to help them gain more control over their minds. Therapy (心理治疗) can also help.

The documentary *Return to the Wolf* has become popular again. It tells a touching story about a lady named Li Weiyi and a wolf named Green. In 2010, Li saved a baby wolf and took him to the city. Realizing he1 nature, she helped him return to the wild. After2 many difficulties, Green successfully joined a wolfpack and found his true home. Their story has 3 millions of people to tears, showing that humans and animals can be true friends.

Li Weiyi once said, "The wolf's home is the wild." We should learn that true love for animals is not about watching them closely, but about respecting their9 . Wildlife protection should never be a tool for getting famous. We can enjoy the story through the screen, but we must keep our feet away from their10 home. Protecting nature is more than just clicking a "like" button. It requires us to keep a responsible distance.  

Hunan's tourism welcomed a warm spring this year. The province had planned to set up spring breaks for primary and middle school students. This policy(政策)  (discuss) at the Two Sessions(两会) on March 5. The local government supported it to encourage family travel and help increase consumption(消费) in Hunan and nearby areas.

Taking Hengyang as an example, a spring break plan was announced earlier: from April 1 to April 3, students enjoyed a three-day spring break. When it was connected  the Tomb-Sweeping Day holiday, the vacation lasted up to six days. Changsha, along with other  (city) in Hunan, also had similar plans. This made   (easy) for families to travel together than before.

Travel agencies in Hunan reported the tourism market  (rapid) this spring. According to a local travel platform, popular spots in Changsha such as Yuelu Mountain, Orange Isle, and Wuyi Square  (see) tourist numbers double during the spring break period.

Experts believe the spring break is good for both families and Hunan's economy,  it encourages family outings and study trips.

Lu Ming,  adviser, suggests that the spring break should be popularized across the whole province. He says the policy can reduce students' study pressure and let parents spend more time with  (they) children. He also advises companies  (offer) parents paid leave (带薪假) so that families can enjoy a better time together and strengthen family bonds.

Above the Sky: The First Hotel in Space

It's reported that people will have an "out-of-the-world" experience by staying at a hotel high above the earth in 2027.

The hotel is called Voyager Space Station (VSS). It is like a sky wheel. There will be rooms, restaurants, bars, gyms, reading rooms and scientific research laboratories. It's eco-friendly by getting power from the sun. It will have rooms for up to 400 people, including scientists, astronauts, and even some people to live there for a long time. You'll pay 5 million dollars for each 3-day stay.

The hotel will serve traditional "space food" — like freeze-dried ice cream. You're also going to have top cooks making really good food. You can go on spacewalks to enjoy the beauty of the earth and space. And the most amazing part? You can enjoy 32 sunrises and sunsets each day because the hotel travels around the earth very quickly.

"The building of the VSS will start in 2026 and welcome its first visitors in 2027. It will be the world's first space hotel. We're trying to make people realize that this golden age of space travel is just around the corner. It's coming fast," scientists say.

In fact, living in space is not just a dream anymore. "Guests can take a shower in special water-saving ways, sleep in floating beds, and even join scientific experiments (实验)", say Mark John, a space expert. For students like us, maybe one day we can also visit the VSS on a school trip! Although the ticket is very expensive now, scientists believe the price will go down in the future. Space travel will become just like taking an airplane trip today. So keep dreaming and studying hard — the stars are waiting for you!
