When people say "culture", we think of art and history. But one very famous symbol in American culture is a cartoon. We all know and love the black mouse with two large round ears—Mickey Mouse. Over 90 years ago, he first appeared in the cartoon Steamboat Willie. When this cartoon came out in New York on November 18, 1928, it was the first cartoon with sound and music. The man behind Mickey was Walt Disney. He became very rich and successful. In the 1930s, he made 87 cartoons with Mickey.

Some people might ask how this cartoon animal became so popular. One of the main reasons is that Mickey was like a common man, but he always tried to face any danger. In his early films, Mickey was unlucky and had many problems such as losing his house or girlfriend, Minnie. However, he was always ready to try his best. People went to the cinema to see the "little man" win. Most of them wanted to be like Mickey.

On November 18, 1978, Mickey became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Today's cartoons are usually not so simple as little Mickey Mouse, but everyone still knows and loves him. Who has a pair of ears more famous than Mickey's?

In recent years, Pop Mart has become a well-known cultural thing, winning the love of young fans around the world. It's more than just a normal toy store. It creates a magical world full of cute and creative characters that attract people with their charm.

The most interesting part of Pop Mart is its blind boxes, which hold the excitement of not knowing what's inside. When you buy a blind box, you're full of a feeling of mystery, because you won't know which character is inside until you open it.

Usually, one series has 12 different characters and some are easier to get while others are not. There's a special "hidden" character that's very hard to find. This makes collecting them an exciting challenge. Many collectors really want to get the whole collection, especially those hard-to-find hidden characters. In 2023, Pop Mart sold over 10 million blind boxes just in China, showing how popular this idea is.

The characters of Pop Mart are designed carefully. Designers get ideas from many things, like old fairy tales, history, and modern art. Take the famous Molly series as an example. Designed by a Hong Kong artist. Molly has big round eyes and a special hairstyle. Each Molly figure wears different clothes and has different themes, like space adventures, animals, and festivals. These beautifully made figures are so lovely that people like them as soon as they see them.

Pop Mart has opened stores in many big cities around the world. These stores don't only sell things. They also work as places where fans can get together. Here, people who love Pop Mart can meet, share stories about their collections, and trade figures. Pop Mart organizes a lot of events, such as fan meetings, design competitions. Through these activities, fans can feel closer to their favorite characters and become part of the Pop Mart community.

Do you like to read comic (连环漫画) books? Even if you have never read an actual comic book, you probably know some characters from comic books. Do you know Captain America? How about Spiderman? Do you recognize Thor and Loki? Have you ever watched Superman?  

A comic book is a book made up of a series of pictures. The art and words are called "comic", but that doesn't always mean "funny".  

Rodolphe Topffer was a teacher, but he also developed several comic strips (连环漫画) which were published in 1827 in different places. These were all drawn carefully by hand.  Topffer wrote in horizontal (水平的) blocks in his own handwriting. This became the standard. 

 Here, artists loved the idea and developed the technique (技巧) of using travel notes in their comics, which were always popular. The French also took part in strip comics, while there were still others who stuck to single comics that were going down the page in the book — instead of horizontal. 

Comics started to become popular in the 20th century.  Comic strip artists have often used art to "make fun" of very serious subjects. Even when they were not "making fun", they used the comics and the characters to deal with serious topics. 

Comic books continue to be popular, but over time, many of their characters have also been pictured in television shows and movies.

Comics and animation have been popular for over a century. The first animated cartoons were very simple, now they are amazing with high technology.Walt Disney was the pioneer  brought cartoon characters to life. His most famous creation, Mickey Mouse,  (love) by people all over the world since it was created.

Today, most animations  (make) with computers. It takes a lot of steps  (produce) a cartoon. First, artists need a good story. Then they create a storyboard and design the  (character). Next, they draw thousands of pictures and add voices and sound effects. (final) , the whole film is completed.  is amazing that a few pictures can make characters seem  (live).

Comics and animation not only bring us fun but also teach us about love, courage and  (kind). They will always be an important part of our lives.

Turning Red, a cartoon, came out in the US in 2022. It took the director about four years to  it. 

The cartoon tells a story of a 13-year-old schoolgirl called Meilin Lee. She  a very special girl. She always has her own ideas and it's difficult to change her mind. But she listens to her mother. She studies hard and gets good  at school. However, her mother is still strict with her and  her to be the best one. 

One morning, she finds she has turned into a huge red panda. When she meets bad things and feels , or she meets good things and feels too excited, she will turn into it. Since then, she has  her life is in a mess. Luckily, she has three good friends. She  share the unhappy things with them. As time goes by, she learns to be herself. She won't let the mood (情绪) change her so . 

Turning Red tells us an important lesson about parents and children. Parents often worry about  children but don't know how to communicate with them very well. Perhaps that's because most  love is always silent. Children need to understand their parents and get on well with them.

Have you ever seen NeZha 2, a film that stole hearts across the globe? Its total box office (票房) has reached over 14 billion since it hit the screen on January 29, 2025.

NeZha 2 is more than just a movie-it shows how Chinese animation (动画) has grown. In the 1960s, China created a classical animated film, Havoc in Heaven. This movie was loved worldwide. However, for many years after that, Chinese animations lost their popularity.

Things began to change in 2015 with Monkey King: Hero Is Back. This film earned 956 million yuan at the box office. It inspired filmmakers to create more high-quality works like White Snake, Big Fish & Begonia, and JiangZiya.These films put traditional Chinese stories together with modern technology, winning fans both at home and abroad.

NeZha 2 retells a classic story in a fresh way. The story follows Ne Zha, a young hero who must choose between being a "fairy" or a "demon". The movie includes powerful lines like, "If there's no path ahead, I'll make one myself!" This message about fighting against fate deeply resonates (共鸣) with young viewers. It's believed that NeZha 2's success comes from its high production quality, exciting storyline, well-designed characters, surprising visuals (视觉) and so on.

Making NeZha 2 was a team effort. Over 130 companies worked together on the film, which shows the strength of China's growing animation industry. However, challenges still exist. Most animated films in China face problems like limited budgets (预算) and technical difficulties. China has a rich history and countless traditional stories that can inspire animations. The success of NeZha 2 sets high standards for future films. Audiences now expect even better quality. With hard work and creativity, Chinese animation is ready to shine brighter on the global stage.
