Robots have come a long way. Let's meet some famous robots from history! 

What do France, Australia, and the U.S. have in common? Among other things, their national flags (旗) all have the same colors: red, white, and blue. In fact, nearly 30 countries in the world use just these three colors in their national flags. Have you ever thought about why?

Historically, the three colors have been used for practical reasons. White was easier to create than most other colors. Red and blue were harder to make, but they were strong colors that could last long.

Besides, each of the colors has its meaning. Red often makes people think of bravery. White can mean purity and blue can stand for peace; both bring about a feeling of calm. People enjoy looking at these colors together, but scientists aren't sure why that is.

There is also a more important reason. Some countries wanted to make a flag like the flag of a stronger country. In the 17th century, the Netherlands, a European country, was strong on the sea. Its red, blue, and white flag became a good example for other countries. One of them was Russia. When Tsar Peter visited the Netherlands, he thought its navy (海军) was great. He decided to borrow the idea of the Dutch (荷兰的) flag. But he changed the place of the three colors, of course!

Look! These fish aren't going down a waterfall. They're going up! These big, strong salmon (鲑鱼) are returning to the quiet waters where they hatched (孵).

Night and day they swim on, making their way up the river, following a way they know. When they get to the end, the mother salmon make long holes with their tails (尾巴) and noses. They produce thousands of eggs into the hole. To keep the eggs safe, they put sand over them.

The eggs hatch. When the baby salmon are about as long as your finger, they are ready to start the swim to the ocean. They swim backward down: tails first and heads last. But there are many enemies along the way. Birds, bears, and bigger fish love to eat baby salmon. Some do arrive at the ocean. Then one day, they will start their long trip up the river.

It was the last minute of the 2022 Beijing Marathon. But 86-year-old Zhang Shun was still about 100 meters from the finishing line. People watched him move slowly. All of them held their breath. Would he make it?

Zhang felt confident before the race. But he had a stomachache on the way. This made him fall behind. "Shall I take a rest or stop?" he thought. Either choice seemed fine for someone at his age. But Zhang chose neither of them. He just ran on. With people cheering, he finally crossed the finishing line!

Marathon running is Zhang's lifelong dream. "In 1989, I saw Beijing Marathon runners go past my home. I just wanted to become one of them," he said. For years, he trained every morning in the park. He filled over 30 notebooks with his running records. None of his family members worried or tried to stop him. They knew he enjoyed every moment.

Zhang Shun was the oldest and the slowest runner to finish the 2022 Beijing Marathon. But it didn't matter to him. Most importantly, he loves the sport and has no plans to stop. "If possible, I will keep running."

Hot and Cool

At last, I arrived in Chengdu. My friend Haoyu took me to a 1 right from the airport at the first time, I just couldn't 2 to try Sichuan hot pot! I learned about it from Haoyu before.
