    A library on the sea

    Did you ever see a library on the sea before? It sounds amazing, doesn't it? Well, there is one on Xidao Island (岛) in Sanya, Hainan. Now let's learn more about it!

    Story behind it

    Qin Jiayi set it up in August 2017. Her team turned three old fishing boats into the library. Everyone is welcome to read here for FREE! Qin said that they run the library not to make money, but to encourage more people to enjoy reading.

    What it is like

    A Boat Full of Books: It serves as an open library. People can read freely here.

    Readers' Club: It holds cultural displays (展览) and reading activities.

    Childhood Exhibition Boat: It is a museum and displays all kinds of things about childhood memories (童年回忆).

    Are you interested in the library? If so, come with children and have a special reading experience on Xidao Island!

    The tour bus stopping at the library on Xidao Island is a great way for people to travel around the place.

  • 3. Once, a rich man asked a young man to paint a boat. While painting, the young man found a small hole in the boat and quietly fixed it. After finishing his work, the young man received his money and left.

  • 4. In ancient China, there were two great poets who were also good friends—Li Bai and Du Fu. They lived during the Tang Dynasty. Li Bai was famous for his love for nature. He often wrote about his travels and the beauty he found in the world. Du Fu was a realistic poet. He wrote about the struggles (挣扎) and hardships of the common man.

    Though they have differences in writing styles, Li Bai and Du Fu often read each other's poems and had a discussion about their ideas. They built a deep bond (纽带) through their love for poetry. Both Li Bai and Du Fu thought poetry can bring changes to the world. They saw their poetry as a way to tell people their ideas and feelings.

    During difficult times, Du Fu lived a hard life. Li Bai would often send him money and things he needed. Du Fu, in return, expressed his thanks in poems to his friend.

    The friendship between Li Bai and Du Fu was a beautiful example of how two persons with different styles and personalities can come together. Their friendship was not only because of poetry, but also because they knew each other well.
