Family Traditions

 Jane: My family take turns(轮流) picking a movie to watch together. I watch something my parents like, and they watch something I like. We also make pizza and eat it in front of the TV.

Wendy: My favorite birthday meal is spaghetti and meatballs. My mom usually cooks, but my dad and sister help. On my sister's birthday, we eat pizza. On my mom's birthday, we have chicken, and on my dad's birthday we have steak.

Suzie: Every Friday night, we have games night. After dinner, we go to the living room and play board games. We have about seven different ones, but only play one game a night. I plan to keep this tradition after I start my own family.

This photo is about me giving flowers to my mother. It is her birthday. When I hand the flowers to her, she kisses me and says it is the best birthday gift. We smile happily.

There's a photo of our visit to the park. We are flying kites there. The sky is blue and the kite is colourful. My parents are helping me to make the kite fly higher. We're enjoying the beautiful day.

Make a timetable!

Do you have problems after starting junior high? You may have more subjects to learn and less (更少的) time for sleep. But some classmates adapt (适应) quickly to their new school life. Nick makes a timetable. It shows his daily life from 6:30 a. m. to 10:00 p. m. It helps him arrange (安排) his school days well.

So how can a timetable help students? First, it can help them live a healthy life. Some students have no time for a good breakfast or some exercise. With a timetable, they can do them well. Second, a timetable can help them do more things in one day. It sets (设置) time for different things, so they know what to do at different times.

You may find it difficult to keep a timetable. But when you do the same activities every day, they finally become your habit (习惯).

I live in a room with seven other firefighters. 

 Every day we get up at 5:20.  After leaving the room, we start training at 6:00. 

 One hour later, we have our breakfast. We have to eat very fast because we do not have much time. Then we run at 8:30 in the morning.  It's not easy at all. 

 We have lunch at 12:00. After lunch, we can get some rest. At 14:00, the team goes for skills(技巧) training. We practise(练习) three skills: driving, firefighting and communicating(沟通).  We usually watch movies and listen to music to enjoy the time. The team usually goes to bed at 22:00. 

 Well, this is our life when things are fine. If there is a fire or someone calls 911, we have to stop everything and get out fast.  Things can be dangerous and difficult, but I think I have an important and interesting job!

In the morning, we have four classes. At 8:00, we have the first class. It is always math, English or Chinese.  Why? Because I love numbers very much. The second class begins at 9:00. After the class, we have a break (课间休息).  The next two classes are from 10:00 to 11:45. And then we have lunch in the school dining hall at 12: 00. I like to eat food there. In the afternoon, we always have P. E., art or music.  In the P. E. class, I can play sports. How interesting! Our classes finish at 4:00. Then we can go home.
