① Birthdays are a very special day for everyone who celebrates it. As the only boy in my family, my birthday happens on 9th March. It makes March a special month for me.

②From my childhood, my parents have a birthday tradition(传统). Every year, we go to have ice cream at night to mark the beginning of my birthday. It is a very small thing but it means a lot to me. We still do this together now and I hope we can keep it forever.

③ On my birthday, I usually invite all my close friends to my birthday party. It is a fun-filled day. My mother makes my favourite dishes on that day.

Sarah's dad bought a new washing machine. The workers were going to deliver (配送) it on Saturday. When the day came, Sarah and her sister Emily sat in the yard, waiting for the delivery box.

"Big boxes are so much fun! We can make boxes into many things," said Sarah.

"Here comes the delivery car!" yelled (大喊) Emily. They quickly ran to the car and saw a big box. They were ____ because they always wanted to play with boxes.

After the washing machine was out of the box, Sarah and Emily took out some coloured pencils and drew on it. They turned it into a pink, red, blue and yellow clubhouse. It was their clubhouse for a minute, and then it was a magic toy car. After that, they cut out a square (正方形) on one side and made it into a TV. They acted out their favourite TV shows. Dad and Mum watched Sarah and Emily play happily and all of them laughed. It was a fun day for everyone.

Family tree is a great way to introduce your family history and lineage（谱系）. It shows the relationships（关系）between family members and can help you understand where you come from.

Look, here is my family tree and there are 14 people in it. I have my grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It is really a big family, but each person has their own unique （独特的）place in the family and their own story to tell.

For example, my grandfather on my mother's side was a farmer and had six children, including （包括）my mother. My grandmother on my father's side was a nurse and had four children. My parents both work in the medical（医学的）field and have two children, my sister and me. My aunt on my mother's side is a teacher and

has two children, my cousins. My uncle on my father's side is a businessman（商人）and has three children, my other cousins. As you can see, everyone in my family has their own job and family, but we all come together to celebrate holidays and special times.

What does family mean to us? In fact, our family is important because it can give us both love and help in life. So everyone should know the true meaning of our family.

Starting a book club is easy— all you need is to love reading. Here's the way to start a book club.

When you set up your book club, the first thing is to get members for your club. They could be friends, family, or those you know through different activities, but they should all love to read. A small group of seven to ten people is usually good for a book club.

Once you have a group, agree on how often you want to meet, and usually clubs meet monthly. Pick a date and stick with it. That way, members can easily plan for it. Set the length(长度) of meeting time. An hour is a good start. Two hours is usually perfect.

Then, you need a good place. Libraries, parks and restaurants— all make good meeting places. For many clubs, homes are the best place because they're quiet and relaxing.

Please don't forget the most important thing— the book! Think about the books your club will enjoy. Stories? History books? Your club can choose books in different ways. You can take turns(轮流) to recommend books. Let everyone vote(投票) to decide which book to read. Anyway, make sure to keep it interesting.

After all these have been decided, your book club is ready. Now, it's time to hold the first meeting. Enjoy your reading.

 Which is the happiest day of a week? Saturday or Sunday? And which is the worst(最糟糕的) day? Is it Monday? On Mondays everyone goes back to school or work. 

 Two teachers in the USA did research(研究) about the happiest and worst days of a week. Peter Dodds and Chris Danforth studied 10, 000, 000 sentences on social media. All of them have the words" I feel" or" I'm feeling". Then, the teachers had a way of giving scores(分数) for words, between 1 and 9. Words like "excited" and" relaxed" could get high scores(6—9) but scores for words like "bad" and" terrible" were low (1—3). At last, they used these numbers to know which is the happiest day of the week. The research shows that Sunday is the happiest day. On that day, people think and write about the fun things they do on Saturday. Monday is also a happy day because people still remember their weekends. And the worst day of the week for most people is Wednesday. There are still two days for work before the weekend. 

 The research finds another surprising fact: people between 45 and 60 are the happiest people online, but the unhappiest group is students in junior high. 

Hello, I'm Rachel. I want to tell you something about my school life in Toronto, Canada.

Every day, I go to school at 8:30 am. I don't want to be late for school, so I get up at 7:30 am. I have breakfast at home.

At school, we learn English, science, art and maths. We need to learn French, too. Because some people in Canada speak both English and French. My favourite class is PE and I'm good at playing basketball. It's my favourite sport. I want to be a basketball player.

School finishes at 3:30 pm. I often do my homework when I get home.

I always like to eat bread and potatoes. For dinner, I have salad. That is my favourite! After dinner I can relax and do what I want to do. That's my life in Canada. How about your school life in China? 

①A study (研究) finds that primary schools (小学) in the USA are not giving students much time to eat the food in their lunch boxes. 

②The study says children need at least (至少) 15 minutes to finish their lunch. But many primary school students only have 10 minutes of eating time. 

③Dr. Marison and Dr. Burton say children can finish eating food in their lunch boxes when they have more time to eat. 

④"With little time to eat, children like to eat the most delicious (美味的) foods in their lunch boxes first. That's bad for children's health and study," Dr. Burton says. Dr. Marison adds, "Giving children fifteen minutes to eat their lunch will be very good for their bodies and study."

⑤Paul, a principal in one primary school says, "It's important (重要的) for students to eat well and study well, so lunch time must be long enough (足够的) and students can eat a healthy lunch."

China keeps the same time over all the seasons in a year. But it's different in many countries, like the UK and Germany. 

These countries have summer time and winter time. In March, they set (设置) their clocks one hour forward (往前), However, in October or November, they set their clocks one hour back. 

In the Northern Hemisphere (北半球), after March 23, days slowly become longer and the sun comes out earlier. During that time, if people wake up earlier, they can use more sunlight (阳光). It saves electricity (电). In the winter, however, they can sleep more in the morning to save electricity. 

People working in cinemas dislike setting the clock. They say that when people get more sunlight, they don't want to go to dark cinemas. But baseball lovers like it. When they are in summer time, they can play for a longer time because there is more sunlight.

Are you ready to clean or grow plants? Would you like to cook some delicious food for your family? Starting from September, students in primary and middle school will have at least one labor(劳动) class every week. 

These classes will help students learn many useful things and make them happy. In these classes, students will try different kinds of work and learn life skills(技能). This is good for their jobs and daily life. They will also learn the meaning of labor and its value (价值). This can help them study harder and get better grades. 

Some schools already have fun labor classes. For example, in a school in Chongqing, kids have a class about catching fish in a pool and learn about their habits. In Fenyi county, Jiangxi, kids learn to make tofu with a millstone. They even eat the tofu they made by themselves. 

Other schools have small farms. Kids can keep small animals like chickens. They learn how baby chickens are born and how to look after them. These activities are interesting for the kids. 

Huaguang Middle School is a new school located on Jinhua Road. It has many modern buildings. There are 830 students and 70 teachers. Here is the school map. 

Do you know a leftover mystery box（剩菜盲盒）? They are boxes with food in some stores. When food like meat，vegetables and fruit is near（接近） the expiration date（保质期），stores put it in mystery boxes and sell them，so the boxes are at very good prices. 

My mother always buys leftover mystery boxes in the store at 5: 00 p. m. Then my family eat the food in the box in the evening. We all like the leftover mystery boxes. My mother thinks they can help us save money. The same food in the mystery box is only ¥9. 9，but is ¥30 in the food store. My father thinks buying this box is good for the environment（环境）. And I like the box because it is interesting. It's great fun to open the box and see what's in it. 

But it's not always good. You don't know what food to eat and sometimes the food in the box is not healthy.
