Now lots of families keep pets in their houses. Most pets are small animals (动物).

Dogs are the favorite pets. The second favorite are cats and the third favorite are birds. These small animals are very cute and friendly. People usually have them as their family members (成员). They give them nice names and let them wear beautiful clothes. They also give their pets nice food to eat. They buy food for their pets in pet shops.

Pets are all very happy. Many pets have their houses and beds. They often go out to relax and take a walk with people in the morning.

Some children like pets because they need a friend to play with at home. Many old people keep pets at home just because their children are out, only them are at home, they often feel lonely. They have them as their children and they love them very much. So you see, pets are very important. I think every family needs pets, and children need to go home as often as they can.

I'm Laura, arobot (机器人). I can tidy rooms. Say"Clean!" to me and I can do it. 

Look! A computer and some books are on the desk. A blue schoolbag, a basketball and a box are under the desk. What can you see on the bed? A white phone (电话). A notebook, two pencils and a pen are on it too. "Clean!" It's time to do my job. 

Now look! The books are in the bookcase(书柜), and the basketball is in the box. The phone is on the desk, but you can't see it. It is behind the schoolbag. In the schoolbag are the school things—— the pen, the pencils and the notebook.

I am Liz and I'm 13 years old. I'm a student in Newtown Middle School. There are some different clubs in our school. I am a member of the reading club.

I love reading. I have a lot of books and I get most of them from my parents. When they are free, they often go to different bookstores and buy books for me. My favorite place is all kinds of bookstores.

I read all kinds of books. I like story books best. I learn a lot of stories from the books. Now I am good at telling stories. My friends say that I can join the story-telling club, but I still want to be in the reading club.

There are twenty members in our club. Seventy percent of the members are girls. There are a few boys in our club. It doesn't matter. We all love reading.

This term, students at Gaoxin Junior Middle School of Shenzhen Nanshan Foreign Language School can join their favorite club activity classes. There are 55 different clubs, such as sports and music, for them to choose from. They go to their classes every Thursday from 4:40 pm to 6:05 pm.

Students really like the soil and hydroponics club. In each class, students first learn how to tell plants from one another and how to plant them in the right place. Then, they have 10 minutes to look at real plants. At last, they can plant their plants in the school garden! They need to find the best way to plant different plants. For example, strawberries grow well in water and apples love soil.

"It's interesting but it's also difficult," said 13-year-old Wang Yijie, "In hydroponics, different plants need to stay in water with different PH levels (酸碱值). So, I need to make the water right for each plant by adding acid (酸) in different amounts. This helped me learn a lot."

I will never forget my first English class. It is very interesting. It's the first class in the morning. 

The teacher goes into the classroom with a smile on his face. At the beginning, he makes a self-introduction(自我介绍). And he tells us that his English name is John. Then he asks all of us to think of English names for ourselves. We are very excited to find a good name. Then he asks us to write our names down on a piece of paper. I think about my English name for a long time. Then I come up with a beautiful name— Shirley. 

All the students write their names down and give the paper to the teacher. When the teacher calls"Shirley" to answer his question, three girls stand up at the same time.
