Everyone will meet some difficulties in his or her life. I once had a terrible childhood (童年) because of my 1 . But a man changed me and my life. Before I was five, I didn't have any hair. I was 2 that other kids would laugh at me, so I didn't like to play with them. I just stood near the window and watched them 3 . I saw an old man walk in the park every day. He was not good-looking. Every time he passed by, kids 4 him. The old man just looked at them, and said 5 .

Our family had an unusual vacation last summer. We went to the Yellow Stone National Park. Our son, Tom, wanted to see bears there. You never know what happened.

When we got there, we put up our tent and went to explore (探险). As we returned, we heard our daughter Susie cry out. And then we saw a bear go into our camp.

Tom wanted his father to chase (追赶) him away. His father said, "No. It's dangerous to chase a bear. And don't let him chase you." Susie said, "What shall we do? Maybe we should climb a tree." Tom said, "No. We have to get him out of there. He might go to sleep in our tent." "Maybe we could make him leave if we put some honey outside for him to eat," Susie suggested. Then I said, "How are you going to get the honey? It's in the tent." We watched the bear go into the tent and heard him upset (翻倒;弄翻) everything inside. "It's foolish of us to try to chase him away," said my husband. "Leave him alone and wait for him to come out." We waited, but the bear stayed inside. We had to sleep in the car that night.

At times, people want to look a bit more like someone else. The photos you see on the screen can give you ideas about how your bodies "should" look. However, you are all different in your own way. Accepting who you are can help you feel happier and more positive about yourself.

Self-acceptance (自我接纳) means appreciating what you're good at, like sports, science or music. It also means valuing the parts of you that don't shine as brightly, like being forgetful or untidy. It's a habit about being kind to yourself even when you make a mistake. In other words, just accept who you are no matter what other people say or think.

When you accept who you are, you worry less about things you can't change. This makes you feel happier and more confident. Everyone can feel as if they have to appear perfect. That leads us to forget about the little things that make us special, because we're so busy trying to meet (满足) someone else's standards. Self-acceptance can also help you discover what you're really good at.

Start by making a list of all the things you like about yourself. Maybe you're good at cooking, or people find it easy to talk to you. Ask your friends for help. Also, try saying kind, positive things to yourself in a mirror every morning. Think up ways to treat yourself, like taking a long bath or watching your favorite film, and spend some quality time on your own. It's also important to look after yourself by eating healthy food and getting plenty of sleep.

When Brody Roybal was a baby, he didn't have legs. But that didn't make him feel sad or stop him from trying any sports. He tried different kinds of sports. When he tried sled hockey (雪橇曲棍球) at the age of 7, he found his favorite hobby. 

"That was it," says Roybal. He is now 16 and a student in high school in Chicago. "It's all I wanted to do."

Roybal joined sled hockey team. By the age of 12, Roybal was very good and he started playing in an adult (成人) team. This was a big challenge because it's much harder. 

Now Roybal is the youngest U.S. Paralympics (残奥会) player. He's a member of the sled hockey team in his country. 

O'Connor, an old player, says Roybal is very good. "Everybody dreams of going to the Olympic Games and winning the game," O'Connor says. "That's something that I couldn't do, but Roybal can. He is lucky enough to go to the next Olympics."

It's true that when God closes a door, he opens a window for you. 

Dong Lina was born in a farmer's family in Dalian, Liaoning Province. Dong went blind when she was young. Like many blind children, she finished her education early and began learning tuina. Though the money she got was enough for daily use, she wasn't pleased (满意的). She was always looking for chances to continue her education at work.

One day, she heard that there was a training programme for blind youth radio hosts in Beijing. Dong, who has had a good voice since childhood, realized that this might be an important chance for her. So she gave herself the courage to make a change. The first time in the broadcast host class, Dong Lina was deeply moved,    ▲     she realized how moving the sound was.

Since then, it has been a new page in her life. At school, she worked harder than others to change her life. In 2010, Dong took part in a national competition, in which people were moved by her ability and encouraged her to study at the Communication University of China.

On 28th June, Dong Lina, the first blind master (硕士) of broadcasting in China, gave a speech at the graduation (毕业) ceremony of 2023 held by the Communication University. She said,"Graduation is the end and the beginning. May we have dreams and keep love..."Her speech lit up all the teachers and students.

Qu Yang is a Wuhan student with a hearing problem. However, he passed the English listening test with 30 points and  into Peking University.

 he was 3, he lost hearing in both ears. In Grade 6, he took up junior middle school math by himself, and later he went into a famous middle school. He said, "If I meet learning problems, I  my best to face them and work them out."At first, Qu Yang hardly talked with his classmates as he couldn't hear them . However, later he thought of it as a challenge (挑战) and accepted it. In high school, English listening tests became his biggest challenge. But he decided  by himself. He spent much time listening to English. And he had a  with his classmates. However, he insisted on (坚决要求) taking the test. Finally, he became the  student to get the full points.

One of the  for his success is that he never thinks he is different. He said, "In my high school, the  thing for me is to solve the problems by myself."

In our life, it's normal to meet some problems. Face them and solve them positively. If you do, nothing is . So don't let the problems hold you back.
