①Have you ever visited any traditional Chinese gardens? They look like more natural sights than some Western Gardens. They have a long history. As early as 15oo, there were two main types of gardens: imperial gardens and private gardens. Imperial gardens were for the use of the emperor and his family. Private gardens were built by important officials or wealthy businessmen. Both types of gardens were built for hunting and resting.

②The Summer Palace in Beijing is China's most famous imperial garden. It covers about 3,000,000 m². Kunming Lake takes up almost three-fourths of the garden's total area. There are over 3,0o0 ancient buildings and more than 400,000 plants in the garden. You can also see more than 40,000 valuable works from each ancient period. With such a rich collection, the garden is known as the "Imperial Garden Museum."

③As for private gardens, the most famous one is the Humble Administrator's Garden (拙政园) in Suzhou. It has an area of only 41,0o0 m². It is quite small compared to imperial gardens, but it's beautiful. When you are standing in any corner of the garden, it all looks like a lifelike picture. And the whole garden looks different in different seasons.

④The traditional Chinese gardens have been designed (设计) to look naturally formed. Mountains and waters, trees and flowers, houses and towers are well-organized. They don't look crowded together at all. In fact, Chinese gardens are in some ways very much like traditional Chinese sight paintings. The two have influenced and developed alongside one another. Both of them show the importance of nature in Chinese culture.

Isatou grew up in a small village of N'jau, the Gambia--the smallest country in Africa. She lived with her sisters, brothers and her parents, and from a young age was interested in recycling. She would even use left-over cloth to make toys! Sadly, her father passed away when she was just 10 years old, and Isatou left school to support her family.

When Isatou was little, she would carry a basket to the market. When it broke, she found a plastic bag to use-it worked a treat!

But the plastic bags soon caused problems. People couldn't deal with them properly and they were simply thrown out and started to cover the streets. They caused diseases, and were eaten by livestock(家禽) who often died as a result.

As an adult, Isatou joined the US Peace Corps as a volunteer- here, she learned more about recycling. She was also inspired to make a change. Could those throw away plastic bags become something that helped her village?

Joined by five friends, Isatou had an idea to weave (编织) plastic bags into purses. The bags were cleaned and dried, and took eight hours to weave into a purse! The purses were sold at a city market--and people loved them! Within a year, 50 more women joined them, with the money the women made, some of their children were able to continue with education.

The recycling group was known as the 'one plastic bag' action, and Isatou was known as"The Queen of Recycling'! Years later, a book about her life came out. Because of her achievements, Isatou received the Difference Maker Award and the Inspiration Award in 2020.

Objects in the night sky are disappearing from view bit by bit because of light pollution, according to astronomers. Outdoor lights like street lights cause light pollution, which makes stars and the planets harder to see from Earth.

Dr Christopher Kyba and his team studied 50,000 stars between 2011 and 2022. They found that the stars are becoming less visible(可 见的) each year because of increasing levels of light from the towns and cities. "If the brightening of the night sky continues." Kyba said, ""I'm afraid    that a child born in a place where 250 stars are visible will only be able to see 100 stars by the    time they turn 18."

In fact, light pollution influences the whole world, especially in North America, where 80% of people can't see the Milky Way. This huge group of stars can't be seen clearly. However, only really faraway places, like the Sahara desert or the Amazon rainforest, have a truly night sky.

Light pollution makes it harder for astronomers to study stars and planets.    ▲    Nocturnal (active at night) animals like bats may get lost easily and knock into objects. Turtles that hatch(卵孵 化) at night depend on the light of the Moon to go to the sea, but Moon-like lights make it difficult. Birds in cities wake and start singing earlier than they should. Man-made light means that animals and humans have some problems like sleep problems, headaches, tiredness and so on.

Here is something that you can do. Raising knowledge of light pollution among family and friends can help. Try to use less outdoor lighting, for example, turn off motion-sensitive lights (感应灯) when they are not needed.

Nowadays, more and more people look forward to getting close to nature.

Jia Ling, a famous Chinese director, shines brightly in the world of cinema. With her understanding of human feelings getting much  (深的) she has created two wonderful films that make people quite interested. Both of them appeared in (二月). The first one is Hi, Mom. The second one is You Only Live Once. The lead character, Le Ying, was once a fat girl. Then she (保持) exercising for a year and finally turned into a strong boxer. The story reminds us of our own changes.

One of Jia Ling's greatest achievements is to bring out the best performances from her actors. Although she is strict during filming, her actors often speak of her as a friend and （幽默的） her a lot. She knows how to guide her (团队) to do a great job. What's more, she is also a talented screenwriter and a (幽默的) actress. She often writes the stories by (她自己), making sure they are both interesting and encouraging. The stories are always about family, love, and personal (发展).

Her films are not only fun to(享受), but also full of meaning. Today. Jia Ling is really one of the most important people m Chinese cinema and (传播) love and joy in her special way.
