More young Chinese are using guzi. Their spending on guzi is even benefiting the country's economy(经济).Guzi sounds like the English word "goods". It means "grain" in Chinese. The word here refers to products related to ACGN-anime, comics, games, and novels. Goods include badges, cards, soft toys, and more. The act of buying these products is called "eating grains".

Most guzi lovers are Generation Z. They are buying guzi for comfort. "These goods help me get through my busier days. They also allow me to leave my worries about my studies behind," said a college student in Chongqing. The other reason is that the "friendship recession(衰退)" becomes a growing problem in China. Young people want to find new ways to form relationships. Guzi culture is taking advantage of this. Guzi stores offer real-life spaces for young people to meet people with similar interests.

By drawing young shoppers to physical stores(实体店), guzi is also bringing new life into China's business. According to an earlier report, China's guzi economy is expected to continue to grow fast. In 2024, it was worth168.9 billion yuan, an increase of 40%, compared to 2023. By 2029, the number will be around 308.9 billion. There are also more and more shops selling these products, and they can be found in almost every shopping mall in major cities.

Stuffy Pete was a homeless man in New York City. Each year, an old gentleman found him on a park bench in Union Square and took him out for a Thanksgiving meal, creating a cherished tradition. However, this Thanks giving was different. Before meeting the old gentleman, Stuffy had enjoyed a big dinner with two kind old ladies, leaving him full and uncomfortable.

Stuffy often wondered why the old gentleman seemed sad. He didn't know that the old gentleman wished he had a son-someone who would remember him and continue the tradition. But the old gentleman had no family. He lived alone near the park, finding joy in small things like growing flowers in winter and searching for bugs in summer.

Feeling helpless, Stuffy looked up at the old gentleman, whose eyes shone with kindness. Stuffy made a sound, as he had nine times before, and the old gentleman understood-this was Stuffy's way of accepting the meal. "Thankyou. I'm very hungry," Stuffy said.

They went to the restaurant where they were well-known. Stuffy ate the meal without leaving a single bite, hoping to keep the old gentleman smiling. After the meal, he expressed his thanks but fell down as soon as he left the restaurant.

Stuffy was taken to the hospital, and an hour later, the old gentleman was brought to the same hospital. The doctors discovered that he was nearly dead from lack of food, having not eaten in three days.
