Last week we asked 200 students from No. I middle school about their free time activities. Here are the results.

On October 1st, the first day of China's National Day holiday, a wonderful new movie called A Tapestry of A Legendary Land (《只此青绿》) was shown in the cinemas. This film is a special mix of dance and movie magic!

The story is based on a famous dance poem drama (舞蹈诗剧). It tells us about Wang Ximeng, a painter from the Northern Song Dynasty (90-1127). He was a talent and loved mountains and rivers. When he was only 18, he tried to finish the famous A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains (《千里江山图》).

The movie brings Wang Ximeng's short life to audiences, showing him as a young and smart person. We can learn about his story through the eyes of actors. And there is a special character called "Green" in this film. Green represents (代表) the mountains and rivers in the painting.

The dance poem drama first started in Beijing in 2021 and was performed almost 600 times. It is more and more popular in China even around the world. Chinese culture is ready to shine on the world stage.

What great news! On October 30, 2024, China successfully launched (发射) the Shenzhou-19 spaceship. There are three great astronauts in it: Cai Xuze, Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze. Cai Xuze, the group leader, has spaceflight experience before. Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze, the post-90s astronauts, are on their first space trips. Wang is even the first woman spaceflight engineer (工程师) in China.

The astronauts entered the Tiangong space station and met the astronaut team of Shenzhou-18 last Wednesday. They lived and worked together to finish some tasks. The newcomers will stay in the space station for 6 months. There are quite a few important things to do. They will do different experiments (实验), such as space life science and space medicine. Then they need to have spacewalks to put on new special devices (装置) for the the spaceship and plan to give space classes to young students from all over the world.

The success of the Shenzhou-19 mission shows China is doing better in space technology. And behind the success, it is the hard work of Chinese astronauts and scientists. They show us that nothing is too far if we keep reaching for it.

Swimming is one of the most popular ways to exercise. People spend a lot of time swimming for fun in the swimming pool. , because the water feels nice and it can make swimmers calm down. All you need is to find somewhere safe to go to. So why not give swimming a try?

. A report says that millions of people keep dancing to stay healthy. For many people, it is the most interesting way to get exercise and they enjoy the happy time as they dance to music. It does not cost much money. So it's not difficult to see dancers in public places such as squares and parks.

We're still in Ireland. We arrived in Dublin four days ago. It was 1 ! My sister and I liked it a lot. Then yesterday, after lunch, Dad turned round to us and said, "We've got a 2 for you. Tonight our hotel is a castle (城堡)!" How 3 is that!

At the end of the journey, we stopped outside a real castle. A nice lady welcomed us and started to show us around 4 it was really big. What an amazing (惊人的) place! Can you believe that we walked up fifty stone steps to get to the living room?

When "the goddess scientist" Yan Ning was  teenager, she was interested in science and was truly  (talent) in it. Her Chemistry teacher told her that girls were good at science. That's why she expected  (become) a scientist.

After years of hard work, she went to Tsinghua University to study and then studied for her doctor's degree (学位) at Princeton University. There she  (choose) the most difficult project in the lab. In 2007, she finished school and went back to teach at Tsinghua University. At the age of 30, she became  (young) professor (教授) at Tsinghua University.

 the road to being a woman scientist is not easy. Yan works so hard that she (usual) works for more than 14 hours a day. She never feels tired because she thinks it is very enjoyable to do what she loves. Yan got lots of  (prize) for her great work. November 21, 2023, she helped to set up (成立) Shenzhen Academy of Medical Science (深圳医学科学院).

Do you know about those great friends Harry, Hermione and Ron in the HarryPotter books? JK. Rowling's stories are world-famous, and part of their success is because of the friendship between those three main characters. But there are many examples of great friends in literature (文学). Let's look at some more in the book sharing activity today.

In 1844, French writer Alexandre Dumas wrote The Three Musketeers《三剑客》. The story is about a young man. He goes to Paris to join the musketeers. He meets three greatest musketeers in France. They become friends and have many adventures (冒险) together. They often say: One for all and all for one and this shows their strong friendship.

The Lord of the Rings(1937-1949) by J.R.R. Tolkien is a fantastic storybook about Frodo, who gets a ring from his uncle. Frodo lives in the Shire and has a friend, Sam. When Frodo leaves the Shire on a long journey with the ring, Sam goes with him. Sam's friendship is very important for Frodo. When he faces many dangers, Sam is always there to help him.

Another book is My Brilliant Friend (2011) by Elena Ferrante. Elena and Lila are friends at school, but they have a lot of arguments (争吵). As they get older, something happens and brings them together again.
