 Dancing is popular all over the world. People dance in theaters, in parks or in their own living rooms. But Yang Liu, a girl in Guizhou, dances in an unusual place. Her stage is a single bamboo pole(竿子). 

 Yang is a performer of bamboo drifting(独竹漂 ). It is a traditional skill in the girl's hometown. In the past, the local people crossed the rivers by riding on a bamboo pole. Now, bamboo drifting has developed into a folk sport. 

 Yang started to learn bamboo drifting at the age of seven. The bamboo pole is very wet and it never stops moving. Yang fell into the water again and again. But the girl didn't want to give up. She always got back up on the pole and tried again. She practised hard every day for three years. Finally, she was able to keep her balance(平衡) on the pole. 

 But Yang didn't just stop there. She wanted to live out her dream of becoming a dancer on a bamboo pole. The girl practised many difficult movements on the pole. She failed endless times, but she never stopped trying. Her hard work finally paid off. Now 26, Yang has made a name for herself as a dancer on a bamboo pole. People can't believe their eyes whenever they watch her shows. Through Yang's dances, many people now know about bamboo drifting. They have found the beauty of this traditional skill. 

Writing a story can be a fun and creative way to express your ideas and imagination(想象). But how do you go from a white page to a good story? Here are some tips to help you get started. 

Choosing a Topic

 The first step in writing a story is choosing a topic. Think about what you enjoy reading or what interests you. It could be adventure, fantasy, detective, romance tale, or myth. 

Understanding the Story Mountain

 The Story Mountain is a visual tool that helps you organize(组织) your story:

· Background(Introduction):

 This is where you introduce your main characters, setting, and any background information that's important for the reader to know. It sets the stage for the rest of the story and it should be written according to the topic. 

· Rising Action:

 This is the part where the story starts to move forward. Things happen and lead to conflicts(争执) or problems for your characters. It's important to create tension(紧张气氛) and keep the readers on their toes. 

· Climax(高潮):

 This is the most exciting part of the story. It's the turning point where the main conflict reaches its highest point. Often, this is where the biggest revelation(内情) or twists happens. 

· Falling Action:

 After the climax, the tension starts to lighten. This is where the characters face the outcome of the climax and start to move towards solving the main problem. 

· Resolution: This is the end of the story. It's where all the loose ends are tied up, and the main problem is resolved(解决). The resolution gives the reader a sense of closure and satisfaction(满足). 

Creating Characters

 Your characters are the heart of your story. You' ll need at least one main character and some other characters around. Sometimes, bad characters are important to the story too. Take time to develop them. Give them names, personalities, backgrounds, and goals. Think about how they would react to different situations. Conflict between characters can drive the story forward and keep it interesting. 

 With your topic, structure, and characters in place, it's time to start writing. And after finishing the draft(草稿), you should check and read it for many times to make it successful.

 Now we are standing at Shiming Square.  Many people parked their cars here and it is the busiest parking lot of that area. Next to the square is a shopping mall. Many people go there to buy clothes and goods. By the way, walking is the easiest way to go into the mall, for the traffic there are very heavy. 

 Then, go north along the South Shuanglong Street.  It's at the end of the street. Then turn right twice into South Bayi Street, our school is on your left.  . At school, we sometimes go to the school library after class. There are all kinds of books in it. Oh, there is also a bookstore opposite our school.  . It's great fun.

 They came across Old Mother Wind halfway home.

Jenna loves running. She joined the school running team as a reserve player(预备队员 ). At first, she was not doing well in practice. She felt like she was falling behind her teammates.

 Be curious(好奇的)

 This is the (important) thing, and there are so many ways to do it. If you walk  same way to school every day, try a way not taken. When your friends ask you to go to the football match, don't say no even if you don't know anything about it. Being curious (help) us to learn new things. The (many) things we know about, the more possibilities(可能性) we have for connecting information in new ways. 

 Take risks(风险)

 Many of us are afraid  making mistakes. This habit may come from our parents or others who look down upon us. So stop listening to these people. Write a song, even if you are not sure how to do it. Learn a new sport. At that time, Thomas Edison  (develop) light bulb from 1979 to 1980. They didn' t work at first, but each one gave him the information he needed and  (final) help him make out the useful ones. Creative people take risks, but you won't take risks  you are afraid of making mistakes.
