Automated（自动化的） kitchens aren't only in shows like Star Trek. Now, robots can cook chicken, make pizzas and salads. AI can create recipes （食谱） depending on what's in the kitchen. More plans are being made to automate great dining kitchens.

At first, technology is often expensive, so restaurants and other businesses use AI kitchen technologies first. Later on, the prices might drop enough for people to use at home. This could change how homes and society work.

The good things about AI kitchens are that cooks don't have to do boring tasks like peeling potatoes or standing at a work area for a long time. This gives them time to do more important things. For people who want personalized food, AI can meet different special diets and tastes.

But there are also risks. Cooking is a good activity that helps with communicating and expressing oneself. But if humans aren't needed in kitchens anymore, these benefits might disappear. Family relationships might not be good without a kitchen where people work together.

Also, the kitchen is like a science lab at home. It's important for science education. Cooking helps kids learn about materials, chemistry and problem- solving.

We also need to think about cultural risks. For example, AI might mess up traditional recipes and methods. It might make cultural details（细节） seem the same or too simple. This could mean that AI and robot cooks make fewer different dishes. If we depend too much on technology to make food, there might not be much variety（多样化） in taste. It's like how AI art pictures on different apps seem similar.

Convenience can have a high cost. So it's important to think about the possible social problems that new technologies might bring, especially in areas like food that are important to our daily lives.

Did you know something about sign language（手语）? Sign language is the main way for deaf people to communicate. Since they can't hear, talking to hearing people can be hard. Luckily, sign language interpreters（译员） are there to help.

Hao Shuxin, 24, sees sign language as her mother language, because her parents are deaf. "I picked up sign language before I could even talk," she said. In2018, she became a sign language interpreter in Chongqing. Her work takes her to places like courts（法庭）, where she interprets for deaf people in legal（法律上的） cases.

Since sign language has fewer words, Hao often meets difficult words without direct match. In such situations, she carefully breaks down the meaning for deaf people. There are also grammatical differences between Chinese and sign language. "For example, the words 'put out a fire' are signed as 'a fire put out' in sign language, as deaf people describe what they see first," Hao explained.

Hao feels stressed at work because being correct is important in interpretations. Her worry also comes from the fact that sign language has "dialects". The same word can be expressed with different hand gestures（手势） depending on where a deaf person is from. "For example, people in Shanxi and Chongqing use different gestures for the word 'true'," Hao explained. Having traveled to over 30 cities in China, she has learned about the special ways for deaf people across the country to use sign language.

In her spare time, Hao reads many law books and talks with lawyers and her deaf workmates to improve her ability. "My parents are deaf, so I understand the difficulties faced by the deaf community. I want to do everything I can to help them, and I hope more people will join us," Hao said.

Parents with high expectations for their children are nothing new to Chinese kids. However, people often don't realize that children also have expectations for their parents. China Youth & Children Research Center did a survey in four countries.

The survey found that 83.8% of Chinese children want to be friends with their parents— the greatest amount（数量） among the four countries. 

Sophia Ren, 13, has her own thoughts about the subject. Ren is an ABC, or American-born Chinese. Although her family lives in California, they cannot avoid the influence of their Chinese background. "I feel like my friends are closer to their parents. " Ren said. "In Chinese families, you usually don't do things like that."

According to China Youth Daily, traditional Chinese values are stopping parents from becoming friends with their children.  As children, what can you do to make home a happy place and make friends with your parents? Here are some tips.

Manage yourselves like an adult.

If you want your parents to give you more freedom, you should show them that you're ready to be treated differently. For example, learn to use self-control. Show them that you can manage your time well.

Open your heart to your parents.

US psychologist（心理学家） Carl E. Pickhardt wrote in Psychology Today that sharing feelings with your parents can lead to positive changes, while not sharing them can cause misunderstandings.

Care for your parents.

 For example, help them with some home chores, make them gifts or teach them some computer skills. Their trust in you will grow.

In a heartwarming event（事件） that shows the power of human connection, a woman's act of kindness saved the life of a 1 man.

During a break between classes, Casey Fischer stopped at Dunkin Donuts for a coffee. It was there that she saw a man 2 change by the roadside. Later, she watched him walk into Dunkin, counting his change to see what he could buy.

Speaking of respecting the elderly, the first Chinese festival that comes to your mind might be the traditional Double Ninth Festival. The festival is celebrated  the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar every year. The festival （know） as Chongyang Festival, too.

One of the main  （tradition） during the festival is mountain climbing. People get together with their families and friends to hike up mountains to "stand high and see far". This has been a Chinese tradition since ancient times.

Traditionally, the festival is also a time to drink chrysanthemum wine（菊花酒）, eat Chongyang cakes  wear cornels（茱萸）. The chrysanthemum wine is not only a delicious drink but also believed to be good for health. People also believe that cornels can help to drive out the bad spirits and bring good luck.

However, the Double Ninth Festival is not just a time for climbing mountains and （enjoy） the autumn scenery. More importantly, it is a time to show respect for the elderly.

George is a 15-year-old middle school student. He didn't use to be interested in English. When he started taking English seriously in Grade Nine, he noticed that his grammar was a serious problem. He couldn't understand the sentences because of the grammar. To fix this, he created a study plan to improve his grammar.
