I started learning English at the 1 of 22. It is kind of 2 to start studying a language. However, age is never a problem if you really want to 3 something.

I was preparing myself to study engineering in the USA. To enter my dream university, I had to 4 a TOEFL score of 90 or higher. After careful thought, I signed up for a six-month program to study English.

It was difficult to get 90 in six months for someone who started learning English from the very beginning, but I decided to have a try. In order to join the 5 ,I moved to a different city and rented (租用) a house with a friend. We were in the same program. We did not have any distractions(使人分心的事物) in 6 house, such as televisions, computers or smartphones.

We had classes every day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a lunch break only. After the classes were over, we had something for dinner and started 7 what we had learned and doing homework. We would study 8 we became sleepy and usually, we would finish it by midnight.

Have you met someone who kept talking and talking, and you couldn't get them to stop? You don't want to be impolite by telling them to shut up, but you really want to get out of the conversation. Here are some ways to help you.

Use body language. While it may feel impolite, you could turn away, put your headphones on, and avoid looking at his or her eyes, which will show that you don't want to talk. This may save you from directly telling someone to stop talking.

Keep working on whatever activity you are doing. Get up and move around, be active and find little things to do instead of listening.

Interrupt them as soon as you can. Saying things like "I'd like to add something" or "If I could interrupt you for just a minute" will often let someone know that they are talking too much.

Lead the conversation. This is especially helpful when dealing with someone you often talk to. Let them know that you heard what they said and guide the conversation in a different direction.

Mention that you don't have a lot of time to talk. Expressions like "I would love to chat but I have to go for a movie right now" and "Today's not a great day to talk. I have a lot of tasks" will make you easily end the conversation.

Remember: It is a skill to back out of a conversation without saying "You are boring. Shut up."

How did artists learn English? Here are two examples.

A famous Chinese actress  Zhang Ziyi had a small part in the American movie Rush Hour 2with Jackie Chan. The role was difficult for her because she wasn't  to speak English. Chan had to translate everything from Chinese into English for her.

After Rush Hour 2, Zhang studied English in New York. She not  watched television but also listened to music in English. She  attention to practice pronouncing words and tried to get them right. Then she found it easy to speak English well doing so. Zhang's biggest challenge came when she played the leading role in the film Memoirs of a Geisha. A friend told Zhang,  will be difficult to express your feelings in English." But she took the part and studied even 

Shakira is a Colombian singer and songwriter. Many people wanted to translate her songs from Spanish into English. Shakira agreed,  she felt nervous about losing control of her music. Then she decided to write her own songs in English. Shakira wanted to know  to use English to express feelings as well, so she also read newspapers and poetry.

Today, Shakira writes and plays her music  both Spanish and English for fans around the world.

The Qingming Festival, which usually falls between April 4 and 6 each year, on the 108th day after the Winter Solstice e (冬至), is one of the 24 seasonal division points in the traditional Chinese calendar.

Qingming, strictly meaning "pure and bright", shows rising temperatures and increased rainfall at the start of spring. It always rains around Qingming, providing a typical scene for the festival. Some 1,200 years ago, a Chinese poem written by the great Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu illustrated (描述) a scene of Qingming:

A drizzlingrain falls like tears on the Mourning Day；

The mourner's heart is going to break on his way.

The Qingming Festival in spring is the occasion for visiting ancestral graves(坟墓).Qing Ming is popularly connected with Jie Zitui, who lived in Shanxi province in 600B. C. To mark Jie, the lord Chong Er ordered all fires in every home to be put out on the anniversary of Jie's death. Thus began the "cold food feast", a day when no food could be cooked since no fire could be lit. The "cold food" festival falls on the eve of Qing Ming and is often considered as part of the QingMing Festival. As time passed, the Qing Ming Festival replaced the "cold food" festival. No matter what changes there are, one thing that will never change of Qing Ming is to remember one's elders by making a special effort to visit their graves, ashes or ancestral tablets.
