Bradley and I chatted every day. I found that he was not shy, but interesting and smart—in fact, much smarter than the other fourteen-year-old boys. Bradley told me he would come to my city with his parents and that he wanted to have a secret meeting with me. After knowing that, I couldn't wait to see him at once. 

I was so excited that I told Mum the good news. As soon as she heard about my secret online friend, my mum started to ask me hundreds of questions. I didn't understand why she was so worried. My mum even called the police. On that afternoon when Bradley and I were going to meet, the police came with me secretly. They found that Bradley was a middle-aged man. Bradley wasn't his real name and he planned to do something bad. I was really shocked (震惊的) at that. 

This experience made me think more about what my mum usually says: Always be more careful when you go surfing online.

When was the last time you gave or received a hug? Do your parents hug you before you go to school? It's quite common to greet friends or relatives with a hug in my country. 

Hugging is an important way to show our happiness, worries or missing. For example, we always hug our teammates after winning games; If one of our friends has a bad day, we will give him a warm hug; If we miss someone, a close hug is essential (必不可少的) when we meet again. 

Of course, people in different countries have different views on hugging. Since I arrived in China, I've noticed that Chinese people seem very coy about that. When it comes to hugs, most the them feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. My Chinese friends told me that hugging is considered to be intimate (亲密的) in their culture. It only happens between really close people. 

But people's ideas towards hugging can change. I remember I've watched a TV show about a special party in Shanghai. A local artist held the party. He invited strangers and hoped that they could feel the warmth between people by hugging. Some Chinese people there clearly looked uneasy (不安的). However, after the party, they changed their minds. They thought hugging doesn't have to be embarrassed and can actually be quite nice. So next time you see your mum or dad, give her or him a hug—see how it makes you feel. 

My father is quiet most of the time. There is one thing that gets him excited. Just say the word "garbage" to him! Or I should say, he is very interested in dealing with (处理) the garbage problem. 

Last year, my father decided to do something about all the wasted food we were throwing away. Each family wastes a large amount of food yearly——nearly 0. 25 ton. We usually throw away the unfinished rice, dishes, and more. 

However, there is something we can do with it. If we properly deal with food waste, it can be changed into a kind of rich, dark earth known as compost. This compost can be added to vegetable gardens to make the plants grow really well. 

To deal with food waste in my family, my father came up with a good idea: Instead of throwing away all our food waste, we put it into the compost bin (储物箱). Mother Nature will slowly turn it from garbage into earth. Three months later, we were surprised to find that it was full of rich compost material (材料)!

Next time you eat outside, just order what you need. Similarly, just make what you need at home when cooking. This also helps to avoid wasting food. Do you have any other ideas? Think about it.
