Every Thursday morning, the 89-year-old grandma Wu Pinxian, plays beautiful piano music for people to relieve(缓解) their stress at Panyu Central Hospital in Guangzhou, CCTV News reported.

Wu started to be a volunteer piano performer at the end of 2023. The hospital holds a piano performance every Thursday to make a relaxing environment and cheer up patients(病人).

Wu's music is effective: many patients and their friends sing along with her piano and some even become her fans. They don't feel so nervous or scared in this way. Wu performs there every Thursday for one and a half hours with just a short break.

Though Wu helps others feel better through her music, she herself feels sad because her husband died in December. But life has to go on. She finds that it's meaningful to work as a volunteer in the hospital. It brings back the old memories.     ▲    

Wu spends three to four hours practicing the piano every day. After taking up the piano as a hobby, she wants to realize her dream even if she is already 89.

"I believe playing the piano allows the patients to enjoy the music. Although I had not played the piano for a long time, it is good to play for others. I will do my best,"Wu wrote down in her diary.

A lot of people play sports, but very few people become sports professionals(专家). If sports aren't going to be your future, then why should you play them? Why should you train every day? Why should you work hard and feel sore the next day? Wouldn't it be better to forget sports and only pay attention to your lessons? In fact, there are a lot of reasons to play sports.

First of all, sports are a great way to exercise. Exercising keeps you healthy and strong. It also helps you stay in a good condition. When you exercise, your body makes endorphins(安多芬) which give you more energy and make you feel happier.

Also, sports teach young people how to communicate and work as a team. They teach young people to respect(尊重) their coaches(教练), teammates and players from the other team. Many reports say that sports help young people stay out of trouble. If a young person plays sports, he or she may have fewer problems. This is because sports teach people about rules. They also teach people that if they work hard, they might succeed.

Another good way of sports is that they make people leave their houses. These days, a lot of people spend too much time watching television and playing computer games. When you play sports, you go outside and exercise in the sun. You take in fresh air. All of these things are important.

Maybe you're not going to become a sports professional, but that doesn't matter, sports will help you become a better and happier person.

Ink brushes(毛笔) play an important part in Chinese culture. 

Xu Wenyi,62, is from Wenzhou. He runs an ink brush shop with his two brothers.  Xu's father learned how to make the ink brush at 13, and ran the shop when he was ready . Xu also began to learn the skill at the same age. Xu and his brothers are the third generation (代) to run the family shop.

 The first step is to choose the hair. Every winter, when animal hair is the best, Xu Wenyi goes to other cities to collect the hair. Next, Xu and his workers make the hair tidy.  After that, they cut the hair in different sizes. When the hair is finally ready, they think about other parts of anink brush.

These days, the brothers try many new things. They make lanugo writing brushes(胎毛笔) and many new parents enjoy these brushes. The brothers also show how to make brushes in their shop.  Many culture lovers show great interest in the skill itself.

"We're happy to make good brushes for people,"said Xu."We want to pass on the skills if people are still writing with in k brushes. And we believe we can make better brushes by improving the skill."

A good book can teach you things beyond(超出…之外) your class. It can  your eyes and clear your minds. If you want to get into a good reading habit, there are a number of ways to  it.

Plan your time

You should give  at least thirty minutes in all for reading every day. When time is set, nothing can change it. For example, make it a habit to read during breakfast or lunchtime.

Always carry a book

Wherever you go, take a book  you. When you leave the house, make sure that you always carry a good book as well as your school things. Remember that a book always  with you.

Find a place

Find a place in your home where you can sit in a comfortable chair. When you read a book, no one will  you. There should be no television, computer, music or even  family members around you.

Have a library day

Have a library card, and you read as many good  as possible in the library. Make it a weekly trip to the library, you can  a lot of money.

Blog it

One of the  ways to develop a good reading habit is to put it on your blog(博客). If you don't have one, create one. It's free. Ask your friends and family to go there to share your ideas and offer you suggestions.

A few years ago, my husband and I were on an island for a weekend with our daughters. As we wondered about what to do next, our girls jumped in and told us exactly what they wanted to do."We want to go to the butterfly museum,"said Ariela and Eliana. We agreed.
