Tang Haoran, 13, went to a plane museum. He learned about the use of some planes and the story of the first Boeing 747. "I saw the seat of the Boeing 747," said Tang. "I like to hear the stories behind our country's work in plane area. After learning about the needs of our country in this area, I now dream to become a plane engineer."

Another student, Song Yutong, went to a law(法律) house. She learned what it's like to be a judge(法官). "This trip made me know that the law is not only strict and fair, but also protects teenagers and those in need," said Song. She always wanted to work in law, and the trip made her feel ready to work harder.

Bai Chundan, their teacher said, "I think seeing real-life workplaces is a great way to let students find what they really care about."

When the wind blows, tree leaves move with it. What if we could "catch" the energy made by these leaves? A French scientist thought about this and made the Wind Tree.

The Wind Tree is not a real tree. It just looks like one, with a white body and around 36 green "leaves". The "leaves" are blades(扇叶) which can turn in the wind. When they turn, they create electricity, and then the machine collects it. The Wind Tree is like a wind turbine(风力涡轮机), but it's much smaller. It's about 5 to 10 meters tall and easy to build.

Usually, the Wind Tree can make 18,000 kWh(千瓦时) of energy in a year. That's enough to power a home of four people. If the wind is stronger, it can make a lot more electricity—about twice at most.

Wind turbines may hurt birds because they may hit the blades by accident. But the Wind Tree doesn't have this problem. The loud wind turbines usually sit on hills far away from people. But the Wind Tree is quiet. People can have them in gardens or city parks.

Zhu Yanjun won the second place in the Chinese Poetry Competition.

He was born in a village in Gansu. After middle school, Zhu became a migrant worker(农民工) in different cities, like many other people from countryside. What made him different was his strong love for poems and books. Whenever he was free, he visited bookstores and libraries. He wrote down poems and recited(背诵) them. Zhu only had a middle school education, but his love for reading began at that time.

Zhu worked at different building sites in more than 10 cities. "There is an old Chinese saying (Reading thousands of books is not as good as travelling thousands of miles," Zhu said. "However, for me, although I have been to many cities, it is not for travel, but to make a living, so I know more about the world by reading."

Because Zhu did really well in the poetry competition, the local government provided him with a job at the local cultural center. Although he doesn't make as much money as before, he doesn't have to leave his hometown now.

"Money is not so important to me. One can live a decent(体面的) life even without lots of money," he said.

The Formula 1 (F1) Chinese Grand Prix 2024(一级方程式赛车中国大奖赛) took place in Shanghai. As China's first F1driver, Zhou Guanyu was there. , so he was excited about it. What makes a great F1 driver? Here are some tips for you.

A good driver must have a good body.

During races, drivers' bodies are going through hard tests. . Because when drivers stop the car and speed up(加速), the head become five times heavier. "You can see my neck is getting strong these years." Zhou said.

F1 drivers need to react(反应) quickly.

They usually react to things in 0.1 seconds.  "Racing with the world's top F1 drivers not only tests my driving skills. It also tests my mind and speed." Zhou said.

Besides driving skills, fast speed comes from the car itself. Zhou had trouble with his car at the Grand Prix last year. "But this time I am ready for the coming race, !" said Zhou.

After rebuilding, a new lighting system(系统) makes the park more attractive at night. Visitors can join in water activities or just enjoy the new plants and fish in the lake.

Paul and his dog Yogi are best friends. When Paul takes a walk, Yogi always walks behind him.

One morning, Paul was riding his bike. Yogi ran beside his (own). Suddenly, the wheel hit  tall stone and then Paul fell down heavily. When Paul tried to rise by (he), he found he was badly hurt. He couldn't feel his legs.

Seeing Paul lying  the ground, Yogi barked nervously. Paul said, "Go home, Yogi. Get somebody for help!" Yogi didn't want to leave at first, but Paul said the words again and again, the dog went away (final).

That morning, Bruce and Maggie, two of Paul's neighbors, were taking a walk. "Look! Yogi (run) down the street alone." Bruce said, "He never did that before." They thought it was very strange, so they decided (follow) Yogi to see what happened. They soon found Paul and quickly (send) him to the hospital.

Paul has to move in a wheelchair(轮椅) now,  he feels much better. "Yogi is my watchdog and my hero!  lucky I am to have such a brave dog!" Paul said.
