People from everywhere come to see and hear the bell. They say the bell brings peace and good luck. Well, I don't know about that. But I know it brings us good business.

I'm Tony. I have changed a lot in the past five years. I used to be short and thin, but now I am tall and fat. I used to hate exams. But now I always do well in my exams. I used to be quiet, but now I like to talk with others, and I have made many friends.

I used to do badly in my English, but now English is my favorite subject. In the evening, I used to watch much TV, but now I am busy doing my homework.

I'm Mary. In the past ten years, great changes have taken place in my hometown. The houses in my hometown were very old in the past. The water in the rivers was very dirty. People went to work on foot or by bike. There was no library. People had no place to read books. But now, there are many tall buildings here and there. Many people have moved into tall buildings. The rivers are clean and people can swim in them. People can take buses or drive their own cars to go to work. Three years ago, the government built a library for people. Now people can read books there. They feel happy because the changes have brought them a comfortable life.

March 2 is Old Stuff Day(旧物日). It is all about old stuff. Things you used have been forgotten for ages in your home. You must have some old stuff around. And today is all about enjoying it. Because what's better than finding something really great from days gone by?

It's so easy to forget things you have. If we don't use them every day, some things can be put away and stay there. And that's not just the things in your home – technology grows so quickly, new toys come out all the time, new books keep coming out. In the age of new information, we can have so many things easily. Today is all about remembering the things we sometimes leave behind.

We've learned to value what age can bring to things. Wines, for example, are more valuable and tastier as they grow older. It's certain that old things still have their uses, value or charm. People today will pay a pretty penny for stamps, toys, video games, board games,books, coins, and clothes of yesterday.

You can really get into the charm of old things by visiting a junk shop(旧货店). Another person's old stuff could be your new stuff! Or maybe now is a good day to clean up? Old stuff could become a great gift for someone else, or you could always send your old things to a charity shop. If you're free, you could turn your old clothes into new ones with just a little change.

Today could be a good day to visit your older families. You could ask your grandparents to tell you stories about family history, their childhood and their youth. Learn about what was going on in the world when they were growing up.

Most of all, remember that today's new stuff will one day be old stuff.

Have you ever heard the phrase "You never get a second chance to make a first impression(印象)"? It may sound like an unusual piece of advice, but it is true – the first impression someone has of you when meeting you for the first time will probably influence how that person treats you or reacts to you in the future.

What is even more interesting is that the brain takes in all the information to create that first impression in about three seconds. When you meet someone for the first time, by the time you have stated your name or shaken hands, the other person has already formed an opinion about the kind of person you are.

So how do you make a good first impression? All things grown—ups tell you – such as being polite and being well—dressed are very important. However, the most important tool for making a good first impression is your face. Smiling, being responsive, and looking like you are happy will almost always leave a positive(积极的) impression on people, especially those who do not know you. Most people, generally speaking are ready to smile back when they are smiled at.

Furthermore, smiling and being in a positive mood helps you to know and get a better understanding of new things. This means that you can possibly be friendlier to people you do not know and be more creative and able to solve problems more quickly. So if you ever need a reason to be happy, think about the wonderful people you might meet – and impress – with a cheerful smile.

Our school is No.1 Middle School. It isn't a big one with a long history, but I'm lucky that I am a student of this school.

Ten years ago, there were not any teaching buildings and not a library in our school. The playground was so small that we could only play basketball there. 

However, great changes have taken place in our school in the past ten years. There are three modern teaching buildings with four modern computerclassrooms now. We have computer classes every week. On the left side of the school stands a modern lab building. On the right side of the school there is also a modern building – the library. In the library there are over 20 thousand books and magazines. We can go to the library to borrow books and magazines any time in a week. We have a new playground. It is much bigger than before. We can play not only basketball but also football and many other sports there. There are a lot of flowers, grass and trees in and around our school. We usually take a walk or chat with our    classmates after lunch and supper among    the    flowers and trees. We always feel very happy.

n a word, our school is becoming more and more beautiful and modern. We love our school.

My hometown is a small town. It is  the southern part of Zhejiang Province. I left my hometown  (work) in Singapore 15 years ago. But I have not been back home for almost ten years.

Last month I came back to my hometown with my family. W I saw greatly surprised me. Great changes  (take) place in the past ten years. The environment is getting  (beautiful). The streets are wider and cleaner. There are trees and flowers everywhere. In the past, people used to travel by bike. Now they take buses or drive cars. I hear they will build underground line next year. I'm sure transportation(交通) (be) better then.

When I got home, my parents  (wait) for us with my other relatives at home. At the dinner, they told me a lot a the changes in my hometown. I can't imagine what my hometown will be like in another ten  (year) time.
