The experiment was carried out on Santis mountain in Switzerland, near a TV tower that's hit by lightning about 100 times a year.
Lightning can cause serious problems on the ground. It can cause fires, destroy buildings, and kill people. The damage from lightning costs billions of dollars every year. Scientists have been trying to find a way to protect buildings from lightning for a long time.
Now, the best way is by putting metal rods (杆) on the buildings. They are connected to the ground and can safely guide the electricity into the ground. ____ If a building is very large, it needs a lot of lightning rods. Some buildings—such as airports —are so large that it's difficult to protect the whole building using lightning rods.
Another idea is to use lasers to guide lightning. It isn't new. Scientists have been working on the idea for over 20 years. They have successfully guided lightning with lasers inside a laboratory. But scientists haven't been able to make it outside until recently. Scientist Matteo Clerici wasn't part of the experiment, but he also studies guiding electricity. He said, "The fact that they managed to do it in an outdoor environment is really a very big step."
Although they have made great progress, the laser still didn't guide the lightning as far as the scientists would like. To protect buildings from most lightning, lasers will have to guide the lightning for a much longer distance (距离). The laser is also very dear. The scientists say it costs about $2 billion. It will probably take 10 or more years before a laser is truly able to protect large buildings.
(1)、Why do scientists try to change the path of lightning?A、To collect electricity. B、To avoid great losses. C、To test special lasers. D、To save building costs.(2)、Which of the following can be put in the " ★ " in Paragraph 3?A、But they often fail to guide lightning. B、But they can cause damage to the ground. C、But these rods can only protect a small area. D、But these rods only work on large buildings.(3)、What does Matteo Clerici think of the experiment?A、It's worrying. B、It's exciting. C、It's creative. D、It's unexpected.(4)、In which part of a newspaper may this text appear?A、Weather. B、Travel. C、Environment. D、Technology.4. 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中选出最佳选项。①That future is almost here. "I think it's going to happen. Definitely in ten years…and hopefully much, much faster," said Sebastian Thrun in 2021. At that time, his young company Kitty Hawk Corporation was working on developing a flying car known as eVTOL, or Electronic Vertical Take-Off and Landing vehicle(车辆).
②Flying to work or school sounds unbelievable. Not only is it fun to fly, but "there would never be traffic again, because the sky is very, very large," says Thrun. He also thinks eVTOLs could be greener than common cars. "We go much faster, we go in a straight line, we fly on less energy," he says.
③So far, though, flying cars haven't taken off as a product. Will their day come? There are still many problems to solve. Their high price means most people won't be able to afford one. So, some companies are developing them as air taxis that people could pay to ride. The main problem with flying cars is safety. Accidents in the air are dangerous to both the passengers and anyone on the ground beneath. To make eVTOLs safer, many developers are aiming to make them self-flying—no human pilot required.
④Another problem is space. Most aircraft need long runways to take off and land. Lifting straight up and down like a helicopter solves this problem. But eVTOLs still need special spaces, called vertiports, for take-off and landing. Finding places to put these could be tricky, especially in crowded cities. But maybe some could go on top of buildings.
⑤What do you think? Would you enjoy riding to school or to visit a friend in a self-flying taxi? Are flying cars a good idea or should we find other ways to get around in the near future?
(1)、What is Sebastian Thrun's opinion about the future of flying cars?A、He thinks it will never happen. B、He thinks it will happen in the next century. C、He is not sure about the future of flying cars. D、He believes it will happen in ten years and faster.(2)、Why are some companies developing flying cars as air taxis?A、To solve safety problems. B、To make them cheaper. C、To provide rides for people. D、To compete with common cars.(3)、What is the possible structure of the passage?A、 B、 C、 D、(4)、What is probably the best title of the passage?A、Is a Flying Car Your Dream Car? B、Will Future Flying Cars Need Drivers? C、The Exciting World of Electric Taxis D、The History of Air Travel Technologies二、阅读还原 (共5小题,每小题2分,满分 10 分)

5. 阅读下面的短文,从短文后的选项A~F中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多 余选项。
Why do you seldom see windows in supermarkets? It's no accident that supermarkets don't have windows.
One of them is that it's a try to keep people inside longer. "The owners want to create a separate environment within their stores, where the outside world cannot be noticed," explains Andrei Vasilescu, a shopping expert. "Your attention won't be taken away by the rain or the sunshine. You may even forget the fact that someone is waiting for you outside. " It really helps create an "immersive (沉浸式的)" shopping experience, for better or worse.
Keeping daylight out of supermarkets can also help store products. Nobody wants to buy anything not fresh. Too much sunshine can even make some products look not as new as before. What's more, having windows in their stores would take up the space to place products. " So the walls can hold the heavier objects on the shelves." says Margine Biswas, a building expert.
Not to mention, windows are expensive and the owners of supermarkets want to keep the building costs lower. It is possible that bad guys would enter their stores by breaking windows.
A. Outer walls are always stronger.
B. There are some reasons behind this fact.
C. Besides, windows could not be safe enough.
D. All you care about is the shopping experience.
E. Different kinds of products are hung on the walls.
F. That's because some food can become bad faster in sunlight.
