To most people in the Netherlands (荷兰), bicycle riding is part of everyday life. It's their first choice to school and work. In cities like Amsterdam, people take almost 70% of all the trips by bike. Why does cycling become popular in the Netherlands? 

In the 1970s, the Dutch government (荷兰政府) began to improve its cycling facilities (设施) because many people wanted a much safer cycling condition for children. To make cycling safer, the Dutch built the widest cycling network in the world. The country marked over 40, 000 kilometer lines just for bicycles. They have traffic signs and signal lights for cyclists. 

Even when both bikes and cars have to share the same road of little space, you can always see a large board saying "Bike Street. Cars are guests". It means that riders have priority (优先) over drivers. For example, cars must slow down and let bikes pass first if they run face to face. 

Bicycle parking facilities are quite common in the country. The central train station in Groningen, a city in the north eastern part Netherlands, has underground space for parking 10, 000 bikes. 

One day, 100 people were attending a speech. The speaker was making a speech about happiness. However, after a few hours, people began to lose their attention. The speaker thought of an idea. He stopped his speech and asked all of the people to take part in a group activity. 

He gave each person in the room a balloon. Each person was asked to write his or her name on the balloon with a black marker (马克笔). Then, all of the balloons were collected and moved to another room. The 100 people were then let into the room and told to find the balloon with their own name. 

Everyone rushed around, crazily searched for their own balloon. People were bumping into and tripping (拌倒) over each other. But after about five minutes of searching, no one could find their own balloon. 

After seeing this, the speaker asked each person to collect a balloon and try to find the person whose name was written on it. Everyone started talking to each other and asking each other for their name. In just a few minutes, everyone had his or her own balloon. 

"Can you see what happened?" the speaker said. "The balloons are like the happiness we look for in our own lives. Everyone is busy looking for their own happiness, not caring what happens to others. But sometimes the best way to find happiness is to help others. Help them find happiness and you can find your own. "

Holidays with friends can be great fun and a good way of getting to know each other better. Planning the trip well will help you have a good time. Also it will help you to save money if you start planning earlier. 

Going abroad will cost more but be a more exciting experience. Don't go abroad if this is the first trip you help to organize. Going to a different place in your own country can also be fun and will be cheaper. 

Work out how many people you will be able to plan the trip for. Find out how much interest there is for people to go on the trip, and then invite people who you think will enjoy themselves and who you get on well with. 

Everyone will have their own idea of what they want the trip to be like, so you should have a meeting. Keep a notebook and write down things to do. If you share ideas with others, you will take a happier trip. 

After you decide on your hotel, you'll know the dates of your stay and be able to book transport, such as bus, train and airplane. Booking transport earlier can save some money, so you‘d better book as soon as possible. 

A taxi hit a truck. A policeman spoke to the taxi driver and the truck driver. He also spoke to Tom. He was a witness (目击者). This is what they said. 

TRUCK DRIVER: I was driving from the airport to Newton. A car crossed the road, so I slowed down. I did not stop. A taxi hit the back of my truck. Nobody was seriously hurt but both cars were damaged (受损害). 

TAXI DRIVER: I was driving behind a truck a few kilometers from Newton. The truck stopped suddenly. The driver did not give me a warning (警告). I was driving very slowly. I could not pass the truck because there were two cars coming near from Newton. My taxi hit the truck, and some glass cut my left hand. 

TOM: I was watching the traffic about a kilometer from the airport. A truck was going to Newton. It was not going very quickly. There was a taxi about two hundred meters behind the truck. It was going fast. When the truck slowed down, the taxi hit it. The taxi driver was not looking at the truck. He was looking out of the window at something. My friend saw the accident, too. 

Tom's friend spoke to the policeman and agreed with Tom. 

Many students are worried after the exams. Some of them are too worried to do other things. How to deal with it? 

Don't think about it.Try to keep in mind that once the exam is over, you can't go back or change anything. Don't ask your friends' answers to the questions in their papers or look for the answers to the questions on the Internet, and don't try to find out how many grades you get. 

See your mistakes as chances to learn from.You can learn from your mistakes.  This helps you find out your strengths (优势) and weaknesses in your study. 

  Set a few minutes and let all your worries go away during that time. Clear your mind from thinking about the exam by doing some interesting activities you enjoy. If you are interested in sports, get outside and play some sports! 

All in all, it is normal to worry about your exams, but you can do some things to make you feel better. Now relax with something you enjoy and then start preparing early for your next exam.
