After-school clubs are a great way to help kids develop themselves in different areas. They will serve kids well throughout their lives. 

Steve was born on September 20, 1992 in London. He is a good actor and pop singer. 

He had a car accident on August 29, 2016 while travelling from London to Shanghai on the highway. He stayed alive although he was seriously hurt. How strong he was! After getting back to health, he published a book called Scavenger of Happiness. It tells us how Steve changed from a young idol into a mature actor who could face life's problems bravely. 

The 10th Annual European TV Drama Conference opened in Paris, France on November 4, 2021. It was a get-together of superstars to discuss and plan the future of dramas and plays. 

Steve was the key player in my favorite drama Big Big Day in 2020. It is a work of art and wisdom. That is why I felt happy to hear that Steve was given a prize at the conference. And he made a speech in French to thank all the people who ever gave help to him. 

Recently, the term "carbon neutral(碳中和)" has been used frequently at some important meetings in many countries. Many countries have put forward the goal of striving to be carbon neutral. China is expected to be carbon neutral by 2060. So, as middle school students, what can we do to protect the environment and live a low carbon life? Here are some suggestions for you. 

Travel in a green way. Now more Chinese people have cars of their own. It has brought us a lot of benefits but has created some serious problems as well. So we'd better do more walking, cycling and less driving. By doing so, we can save energy and reduce pollution. 

Cut down white pollution. We should reduce the pollution of plastic bags. When you go to the supermarket, bring your own shopping bags. 

Save water. Lack of water resources will affect the ecological environment. So please turn off the tap after using it. 

Sort the rubbish. Doing garbage classification in a right way can turn waste into wealth. 

Plant more trees. Planting more trees means cutting down and reducing the carbon footprint and spreading of greenhouse gases. 

Use both sides of the paper. The paper production process uses a lot of trees. 

Now is the time that we should take up our responsibility to protect our environment from being polluted. 

Let's join our hands and take actions immediately. 

When you open a certain mobile app, there's usually an open-app advertisement that gets in your way. Some of these ads can send you to another app if you shake your phone a bit. And this has been causing heated discussion online recently. 

These open-app ads act like "doors" – no matter which app you open, you may always end up in those apps that have more ads. During online shopping festivals, for example, users are usually led to shopping apps like Taobao and JD. 

There are already a number of regulations on this problem. A regulation that came out in December 2022 gave specific rules for how these "shake-to-open" ads should operate. It said that the rotation angle of the phone should be larger than 35 degrees, and the time spent shaking the phone should be longer than 3 seconds. Starting from May, the ads must have a clear button to let users to close them. 

However, putting these regulations（法规） into action can be difficult. The total number of apps is large, making it hard for authorities to look into every app. There were at least 2. 59 million apps released in January and February alone. 

However, this shouldn't be the reason for the mobile apps to step out of these "lines" and take advantage. That way, what all the platforms really get is people's complaints. Over 90 percent of users strongly dislike such open-app ads, according to the Jiangsu Consumer Council. 

Such ads hurt an app's reputation（名誉） because fewer users may want to use them after being taken to other apps too many times. To get real recognition from users, the apps should respect their choices and provide them with ads that they can choose to click on only if they want to. 

Farmyard robots can cut down chemical pollution

⁠? Many of them use chemicals to kill weeds. The trouble is, these weedkillers also kill wildlife, pollute rivers and are bad for the fields. ⁠. This kind of robot can cut weedkiller use by 90%. The robot is really smart because it only kills weeds but not crops.

Several cameras are built into the robot. The cameras facing the ground take photos to help the robot "see"the plants it passes. 

The robot compares each photo to a library of plant photos to decide on which plants are weeds. 

Robot arms move into position to give a small dose of weedkiller on the weeds. The robot is energy-friendly. ⁠

How will the robot develop?

The scientists do not want to just stop at the achievement they have made. ⁠. The improved model of robots will exactly discover weeds and dig them out instead of weedkillers.

Every year on May 20th , it's World Bee Day. It's a day to thank bees. 1 bees , we wouldn't have any food! When bees fly from plant to plant,they2 pollen (花粉). The pollen makes new plants grow.

A large store had a big sale day and many things (sell) at a low price. Ads had been placed in the local newspaper several days before. The sales were so good that people rushed to the store that day. To  (save) more money, people had got together at the store as early as 7a. m. ,waiting for the door to be opened. 

A small man looked at the long line and tried to (slow) make his way to the front. After (see) what the small man was doing, the crowd became angry. They started(shout) at him and pushed him in order to force him back to the end of the line. Though the people in the crowd were angry, the man still tried walking to the door a (two)time. Many people near the door were stronger than him he still made it. 

"Hey!" Someone shouted in the crowd. "Is that you again? When will you learn to wait in line?" They got him to the back of the line and three old ladies (say)they would watch him and stop him going forward. "That will make him think twice!" they thought. 

 situation really made the small man embarrassed. He shook his head. "This is too much for me to deal with!" he said. He wanted to open the store, but he thought that it would (serve) these rude customers right if he went home and didn't open the store at all that day!
