I asked my dad if I'd ever made him cry before because I couldn't remember ever seeing him cry.

"There was once," he said.

He told me that when I was 1 year old, he put a pen, a piece of paper money, and a toy in front of me. He wanted to see which one I would pick. It's a tradition that a lot of Chinese people do when their kids are 1 year old. According to this tradition. it shows what the kid will value (重视) most when they grow up. For example, if the kid takes the pen, it means he or she will be a smart person in the future. If the kid takes the' money, it means he or she will value money more than others and will become rich. If the kid takes the toy, it means he or she will like fun things and play a lot.

My father was just doing it for fun. It was interesting for him to see which one I'd pick anyway. He said that I just sat there and stared at the three things. He sat across from me and waited to see the result. According to him, I moved toward him and he held his breath. Then I pushed (推开) everything aside and went right into his arms. He had never thought that I would choose him. And that was the first and only time I made him cry.

Some people work a job all their lives and for them, it is only a way to make a living. But Carole and Russ Cassidy are lucky. They-worked-as special education teachers with interest and got lots of satisfaction. Now they are retired (已退休的) and luck is still with them.

"We just didn't want to be sitting and not doing anything," Carole said. "We tried several things. but they were not meant for us." Soon, they found the Princeton Public Library's Children's Storytime program and wanted to get involved. "We were lucky. They came and found us and asked to volunteer." Rebecca Marrs. Children's Librarian at the Princeton Public Library said. Marrs said the kids loved the retired special education teachers.

Marrs began the Children's Storytime program-at the-Princeton Public Library about eight years ago. The Book Babies program, for newborns to 3-yeat-olds, is held on Thursday and the Preschool program takes place (举行) on Friday.

The Cassidys and Marrs said that they didn't expect the children to sit still during the storytime. They understand that children can listen while playing." I love being with kids. I enjoy watching kids playing together and using their imagination most," Carole said. "For example, I asked them why they made a robot with bricks (积木) and they explained it to me. Their imagination is so good."

Keeping Earth healthy is an important job. That's what the environmental protection is all about. One of the hardest jobs is solving the problem of rubbish. The trouble with rubbish is that more and more rubbish is produced and there will be no place to put it.

A lot of our rubbish comes from plastic. Juice, water, shampoo (洗发水) -these all come in plastic bottles. Too much plastic is one of our worst rubbish problems. When a plastic bottle becomes rubbish, it remains rubbish for hundreds of years. That's because plastic is hard to decompose (分解) in the earth.

Is there a better way to deal with plastic? Yes! We can recycle it. When we recycle, we take something that's been used and turn it into something new. Here is how it works. People save their plastic bottles. A special recycling truck picks the bottles up and takes them to the recycling center. Here, the bottles are melted down. The melted plastic is sent to a factory. At the factory, the old plastic is made into something new. It may become a new bottle, a backpack or maybe even a slide (滑梯) at playground!

Sometimes there are not many things that kids can do to help solve our planet's problems. But kids can do a lot about rubbish. Recycling is one way that all people can make a big difference!

My parents have a friend who always helps out homeless people. His name is Richard and be is very successful.

Last Sunday, he called our house and asked me if I would like to help those homeless people.  We spent most of the day serving food to homeless people.

After the meal, those people listened to Richard talk about how to go back to school and how to get a job. It was a great talk. 

On the way home, Richard told me that it made him feel good to help others. I told him that it made me feel good, too. I also told him I thought they really needed help.

Richard said some people thought homeless people were lazy, but he didn't agree. In his opinion, people lived on the street for many complicated reasons. 

He said that he knew one kid who got off the street, went back to school and became successful. He asked me, "Would you like to meet him?"

I said," Sure."

He shook my hand and said, "Nice to meet you!"

, I asked, "You mean you…?"

He smiled and nodded (点头).

"Wow, cool! There must be a fantastic story!" I shouted.

Can you think about one way to help homeless people? (Less than 20 words)

Dale is a player. When he was a little boy, he had a great interest  playing basketball.

As he grew up, he became a player. He practiced playing basketball every day. You could imagine  happy he was! But all this  (change) because of an accident.

One day, he hurt himself before finishing  (train). In the hospital, he had  (difficult) moving his body. The man had to spend all his time lying on his back. It seemed that he was  (able)! He felt sad and  (alone). In the same room in the hospital, there was a little boy. He hurt his left hand with a  (break) bottle. Over time, they became friends. They  (understand) each other and helped each other. The boy sang songs to the man and the man started  (tell) his stories about playing basketball. They had strong feelings that they could be better soon.

As we had had a long walk through one of the markets of Old Delhi, we  at a square to have a rest. After a time, we  a snake-charmer with two large baskets at  the square, so we went to have a look at him.  he saw us, he picked up a long pipe which was  with coins and opened one of the baskets. When he began to , we had our first  of the snake. It rose out of the basket and began to follow the  of the pipe. We were very much surprised when the snake charmer suddenly began to and modern pop songs. The snake, however,  to 'dance' slowly. It obviously could not tell the  between Indian music and jazz!
