It was a sunny day in Barrie, and nine-year-old Stephanic Boddy and her friend Samantha Quinn were 1  on the grass near their apartment building and having a picnic (野餐) on an old blanket (毯子). Little did they know, this 2  day would soon become a story of bravery (勇敢).

"Joe" is Joe Hoagland, who was three years old when the story began. And "Fonzie" is a 3-metre-long, 275 kg dolphin (海豚). When Joe was born, he bad a problem with his heart and doctors had to operate (动手术) on him. When be was three, he had another operation. This operation didn't go well and he became paralyzed - be couldn't move the left side of his body. The doctors at the hospital didn't think he could get better. Deena, Joe's mother, took him to different places for therapy (治疗)，but it-wasn't very successful. Then the family moved to Florida. Joe liked being in the water and Deena thought swimming could help him. First, they went to swimming pools in hotels, but some hotel guests didn't like them being there. Then one day she went with Joe to a place in Key Largo called Dolphin Plus, where people swam with dolphins. Joe met Fonzie there and the story really began.

Soon, Joe wanted to see Fonzie every day. He loved playing with him and feeding him. Every time that Joe arrived, Fonzie came to see him. Joe's mother told him always to feed Fonzie using his left hand, so Joe used his left side more and more. Slowly, he got better and better. He's now over 30 years old and very well. Deena saw that Joe's friendship with Fonzie helped him a lot, and she knew it was a good idea for other people, too. So, she and her family worked to open a place called Island Dolphin Care. It's next to Dolphin Plus and many people with health problems come to spend time with the dolphins. Sadly, Fonzie died in 2004 when Joe was 17. He wrote: "Fonzie was a great friend to me; he and I shared a lot of good times. He always put a smile on my face."

A lot of big cities, like London, have got many traffic problems. Sometimes a journey (行程) of a few kilometers can take more than an hour. So what's the best way to get across London? For a very short journey, it's probably a good idea to walk. But what happens when you want to go further?

The hosts of a popular TV show about cars decided to find out. Bach of the hosts chose a different kind of transport to make the same 27-kilometre journey. One host went by bike. One went by car. Another chose public transport - the underground (subway) and bus, and the last one travelled by speedboat up the River Thames. They all started at the same time and the same place in West London, but who got to City Airport in East London first?

The results were a surprise. The bike came first. In second place was the speedboat. Public transport came third and the car was last.

So the hosts had an answer. The bike was quicker than all the other kinds of transport and the car was slower. They weren't very happy with the result because they wanted the car to win. They made a joke and said the bike wasn't a real winner because it was more dangerous.

But, of course, the bike is the real winner. It's the best way to get about. It's cheaper than public transport and it is healthier than going by car. It's also better for our cities because bikes don't make the air dirty. So next time you need to travel around, think before you and your parents get into the car-"       ▲       ".

WHAT MAKES YOUR HOUSE A HOME?

The words "house'" and "home'" don't mean the same in English. A house in towns and cities is a building with four walls and a roof (屋顶)，usually in a street with lots of other houses around it. In most houses there are rooms for different activities. So people can eat in the kitchen, sleep in the bedrooms, wash in the bathroom and relax in the living room.

But a home is a house full of people with their favorite rooms. For example, my favorite room is my bedroom. It has al my things in it so it's a bit untidy but I love it. My mum loves reading in the comfortable armchair in the living room. Jasper, the cat, lies under her feet by the hot fireplace. My younger sister Sally spends a lot of time in the garden -she loves playing there with her friends! My big sister is away at university so her bedroom is the room for keeping things. And my dad can cook really well so he's usually in the kitchen.

When I'm away from home I sometimes feel homesick (思乡的). Of course, I miss all my music, my games, my books and my photos, but I also miss everyday family activities. Our house is noisy in the morning before work or school. Then, when I get back in the evening, Jasper jumps on me with his dirty cat feet and there is the fantastic smell of my dad's cooking.

So home is the people and animals who live in a house, and the things in the rooms that are special to us. It's the activities we do, our feelings and the relaxing environment around us. But home is also the community (社区) we are part of. I often take our neighbors' dog, Milo, out and they look after Jasper when we're away. And every summer, when it's not dark in the evenings, there's a big party in our street with al the neighbors. That's what home is for me.

My trip to Delhi

Saturday

After two flights, I finally arrived in Delhi.  It didn't take long, and I was soon driving through the streets to my small hotel. The owner was really kind and friendly. It was very clean and comfortable. I was really tired, so I fell asleep quick.

Sunday

I got up at about 8 o'clock and went down for breakfast. Then, I went out into Delhi. I found a taxi and went to my first tourist spot: the Shri Lakshmi Narain Temple.  Inside, I found a guide and learned a lot about the history of the beautiful building. After this, I went to Raj Gbat. This is the last resting place of Mahatma Gandhi. The gardens were very green and there were lots of trees, but the fountains (喷泉) were dry because of the heat. After this I was very tired and bot. Later, when I felt better, I went for dinner at a restaurant. I think I'll stay in Delhi for a few days. Then I'll probably fly to Varanasi. It's a very famous historical place. I'll let you know what it's like!

There are many different kinds of TV shows in Britain. The Choir is one of (famous). In the show, a young choirmaster, Gareth Malone, teaches people (sing) in a choir.

Gareth worked as a teacher at a school in the UK. His job was to start a choir, it wasn't easy! This school was for (boy) only. The students did lots of sports, including tennis, basketball, and football, but they (show) no interest in singing. They talked in class, missed (they) singing lessons, and made fun of it. But Gareth was wonderful teacher, and he made his students started to love music. the end, there were 150 people in the school choir.

After practicing for nine months, the choir (final) got to sing at the famous Albert Hall, where only really good singers and musicians perform. And in the future, Gareth (try) his best to make sure the choir continues to be a success.

Li Ping had a great weekend. On Saturday, he decided to learn how to make Russian soup (他自己). Wany cooking experience, he found a (简易的) recipe (菜谱) online and followed those(步骤) carefully. To his surprise, the dish smelled really good and he felt proud of making his osoup.

There will be a cooking competition in his neighborhood next weekend. People can cook bChinese and western food. Li Ping(计划) to have a try. He wants to make a soup sto the one he made on Saturday. This will be the first time for him to show his tin cooking. He can't(等待)！
