There are many kind people helping to take care of others in every country. Travel study—a new way to spend your holiday. Have you ever heard about it?

When you have a travel study, you can see Big Ben, Sydney Opera House, the Statue of Liberty and so many other places. During the travel study, you may go traveling by yourself, or with your family or your friends. 

When you travel, you are in a different culture every day. You will be served with different new food and make new friends. You read all these from books in the past, but now it is real and you are part of it. Besides, you may also learn other cultures from your new friends because they are from different countries. 

Maybe you already have foreign teachers in your school to teach you English. But he or she will not stay to speak English with you all the time, right? During the travel study, you have to speak it every day and almost everywhere because you are in an English-speaking country!

It also gives you a chance to live alone. That will teach you how to live. "What should I do if I lose my way in a foreign country?" "How can I buy what I want with my poor English?" You have to be clever and find answers for yourself.

In short, you can get a lot from the travel study.

Last week John went to his sister's house, and it's also the house he was born in. Sue, his sister felt excited and surprised. She said to John, "You haven't changed a lot, John. At lunch, Sue said, "Do you think it is still a beautiful place, John?" "It's all different, Sue. It used to be an exciting place, but now it's full of old people. I don't understand. " John said.

The mobile phone has become a problem for high schools. Some high-school students in Australia are not allowed to carry mobile phones during school hours. 

The mobile phone used among children has become a problem for the school these years. Several children have got mobile phones as Christmas presents, and more students want them. Marry Brown, a headmaster, said that the mobile phone was a distraction (分心事) to students during school hours and it also gave teachers so much trouble in their classrooms. Teachers also say that sometimes students might use phone messages to cheat during exams. 

She said some schools had tried to stop students using mobile phones during school hours. Some parents felt unhappy because they couldn't get in touch with their children.

Many teachers said students should not have mobile phones at school, if there was a good reason, they could leave their phones at school office. They also said phones were easily lost and were a distraction for studies. 

Many people say that they understand why parents would want their children to have phones, but they think schools should stop students taking mobile phones there. They hope students can focus on their schoolwork instead when they are in school. 

As we know, many people are learning English in the world now. However, do you know a lot of American kids are trying to learn Mandarin (普通话)? 

Why do people like learning Chinese? With the rapid development of China, Chinese is becoming more useful than other languages.  For example, in 1999, three Chicago schools had Chinese classes. 

In many American cities, students are learning Chinese lessons after school or on weekends but Chicago schools teach Chinese during the weekdays.  Because these schools had done a good job, more than 5, 000 textbooks had been given to them by China. 

Though Chinese classes are becoming popular, it is one of the most difficult languages to learn. 

 But an English speaker needs only 480 hours for French, Spanish or Italian.
