    Little children use a lot of silent signals to communicate, but we've got ways to read their body language.

    Like many parents of children, you might find it is hard to1your children's signals. Even though children can know around 200 words by their second birthday, they are only able to250 of these words in daily life. While no one expects you to be a mind5, you can pay attention to your children's body language to learn how to6in some cases.

    It is difficult to believe that one little arm cross can have more than 67 kinds of meanings. But for children, it's7to be a signal that they're feeling uneasy.     Body language is the quiet, secret and most powerful language of all! It is said that our body movements communicate about 50 per cent of what we really mean while words themselves only express 7 per cent. So, while your mouth is closed, your body is just saying...

    Arms. How you hold your arms shows how open and receptive you are to people you meet. If you keep your arms to the sides of your body or behind your back, this suggests you are not afraid of taking on whatever comes your way. Outgoing people generally use their arms with big movements, while quieter people keep them close to their bodies. If someone upsets you, just cross your arms to show you're unhappy!

    Head. When you want to appear confident, keep your head level. If you are the monitor in class, you can also take on this position when you want your words to be taken seriously. However, to be friendly in listening or speaking, you must move your head a little to one side.

    Legs. Your legs tend to move around a lot more than normal when you are nervous or telling lies. If you are at interviews, try to keep them still!

    Posture(姿势). A good posture makes you feel better about yourself. If you are feeling down, you normally don't sit straight, with your shoulders inwards. This makes breathing more difficult, which in turn can make you feel nervous or uncomfortable.

    Mouth. When you are thinking, you often purse your lips(噘起嘴唇). You might also use this position to hold back an angry comment you don't wish to show. However it will probably still be noticed, and people will know you're not pleased.

    China's "Singles' Day" is celebrated on November 11, because the date "11/11" often reminds people of "bare sticks (光棍)" in Chinese. Today Singles' Day is popular around China, especially among young people in colleges. In fact, it was invented in a college.

    Chinese Singles' Day came from Nanjing University in 1993. Later, several universities in Nanjing celebrated it in the 1990s. The holiday got the name "Singles' Day" because the date is made up of four "1". After graduating, these college students carried the tradition into society (社会). Singles' Day has been largely popularized on the Internet and is now celebrated even by young people in several areas outside China as well.

    However, as time goes by, that meaning has changed. Today, Singles' Day is better known as "Double Eleven" because of Alibaba Group Holding founded by Jack Ma. It runs China's largest online marketplace. In 2009, China's online shopping giant Alibaba set the day as a shopping festival because date is easy to remember and it is between National Day and Chinese New Year. It soon became popular, and Double Eleven has become one of the most important days for buyers and sellers across China because everything is on sale on that day.

    On November 11th, 2019, it took just 96 seconds for Alibaba Group to sell 10-billion-yuan goods just after midnight.

    We use both words and gestures to express our feelings, but the problem is that these words and gestures can be understood in different ways. So does laughter or crying. There are also a number of striking similarities in the way different animals show the same feelings. Dogs, tigers and humans, for example, often show their teeth when they are angry.

    Fear is another emotion that is shown in much the same way all over the world. In Chinese and in English literature, a phrase like "he went pale and began to tremble" suggests that the man is either very afraid or he has just got a very big shock. In Chinese "surprise" can be described in a phrase like "they stretched out their tongues". Sticking out your tongue in English is an insulting gesture or expresses strong dislike.

    Experiments in America have shown that women are usually better than men at recognizing fear, anger, love and happiness on people's faces.

    ORBIS is an international charitable organization (国际慈善组织). Its main job (be) to help blind people all over the world.

    ORBIS uses a flying eye hospital (visit) poor countries. On the plane, volunteer doctors have operations (手术）on blind people.

    The plane is also used as teaching centre. Some doctors and nurses from poor countries can come to the plane to learn about eye (problem). Then they can help (many) blind people.

    ORBIS (train) and taught over 35,000 doctors and nurses so far. Every year they travel around the world (help) thousands of people. , they need your help to carry on with their work. For just $38, you can help one person see; for $380 you can bring light ten people; for $l, 300 you can help train a doctor. No matter how much money you can donate you're your love will help open their eyes to the world.
