Eric Carle is an American writer. He has written over 70 children's books. His most famous book，The Very Hungry Caterpillar，is popular all over the world. What most people don't know is that Eric makes art for adults （成人），too. "ArtArt" is one of Eric's works for adults. 

Like Eric's children's books，his "ArtArt" is full of colors. He says that he loves color so much because he missed it in the war （战争） in Germany. Eric was born in New York in 1929，but moved to Germany with his family when he was six. When he was 10，World War II started. Eric found people painted all the houses in his town gray，brown，or dark green. It seemed like there was no color anywhere. At the end of the war， "when color came back，" Eric said， "I just loved it so much. I keep saying that I wish our eyes could see more colors. Color is very important in my work. "

Anyone who has seen Eric's books can see how important color is to the artist. He paints colors on a piece of paper，cuts out shapes，and then glues （粘贴） them onto another piece of paper. This is a special method. Eric used it in his "ArtArt". "ArtArt" has paintings，photos and even clothes. In all these works，he uses different colors from purple to green to orange. 

The FIFA World Cup 2022，which kicked off on Sunday Nov. 21th，has attracted more than 1 million soccer fans to Qatar（卡塔 尔）from across the globe. They went for their favorite stars and teams， sharing their love for the world's most popular sport. 

Enner Valencia scored two first﹣half goals as Ecuador（厄瓜多尔） beat hosts Qatar 2﹣0 in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup on Sunday. The result marked the first time that a host team has lost the opening game of the World Cup. 

The FIFA World Cup 2022 will follow along the lines of recent editions，with a 32﹣team group stage to whittle the field down to 16 teams. Those 16 group ﹣ stage teams will advance to the single ﹣ game knockout stages — Round of 16，quarterfinals，semifinals，final — where the winner moves on and the loser goes home. There must be a winner on the day for every knockout﹣round match， and extra time and penalty kicks（罚点球） will be used，if necessary，to determine the victor. 

Even without a home team to cheer for，Chinese fans and enterprises remain enthusiastic（热 情的） about the Qatar World Cup. Support from China has also come in a more concrete way， with most of the tournament's stadiums，its official transportation system and its accommodation facilities （住宿设施） featuring contributions from Chinese builders and providers. 

How to build self﹣confidence（自信）

These tips could help anyone who is trying to build self﹣ confidence. Remember to always love yourself and love others as you love yourself. Try not to be so hard on yourself or others. 

Choose to deal with those who can lift you up. 

Talk to and hang out with friends and family. Make new friends with those who love you and really care about you. 

. Choose your friends carefully. Be careful of people who may make you feel bad or unhappy about yourself. 

Get to know yourself. 

What are your values，your beliefs or morals （道德观） ，your wants，？ The better you know yourself，the easier it will be to love yourself.

Scientists say a new kind of robot can create baby robots. This is science fiction becoming science fact. The scientists in the US created the world's first "living" robots，called Xenobots. They are from the stem cells （干细胞）of an African frog. Xenobots are made up of about 3，000 cells. During an experiment，the researchers found a very interesting thing. They put enough Xenobots in a petri dish，and they would gather （ 聚 集 ）together. Finally，there were some new Xenobots，and they would become exactly the same as the mother Xenobots after a few days. Scientists said the robots can reproduce（再生）because they have a special shape. 

Researchers tested billions of body shapes. The result was a C﹣shaped robot. The inside "C" became the Xenobot's mouth. It gathered small cells in its mouth. These cells became a new "baby" Xenobot. 

Xenobots are not what we imagine robots to be. Scientists say they are technically robots. They are a machine﹣animal hybrid. They are "a completely new life﹣form". 

Xenobots are very early technology. However，they're helpful in many fields such as science， medicine and the environment. We can use them to repair the damage to our organs （器官）， attack micro﹣plastics in the ocean and so on. Although Xenobots can play an important role in our future life，some people are still worried about robots that can reproduce. 

In a small Chinese town lived a poor young man named Liang. He loved 1 . One night，an old man with a long beard2 Liang in a dream. He gave Liang a paintbrush. "Use this magic paintbrush to3 the poor，" he said， " But don't use it to help people who are rich and greedy，or the magic will leave your fingers and you will never paint again. " 

When Liang4 ，he found the paintbrush lying on the table by his bed. He painted a5 and was6 to see it fly off the paper and out of the window. Liang ran out of his little house and started painting things for people. He painted a buffalo （水牛）to help a farmer，food for7 people and clothes for people who were cold. A rich man，however，heard about the paintbrush and asked Liang to paint some gold for him，8  Liang said no. 

"If you don't paint for me，I'll cut your fingers off，" the rich man said. " Then you will never paint again. " So Liang painted an island of gold in the middle of a blue9 . 

Then the rich man asked，"10 can I get there？" Liang painted a boat for the rich man，who got in it and went on his way toward the island. But when the rich man was halfway there，Liang painted a hole（ 洞 ）in the side of the boat. The boat sank into the water and nobody ever saw the rich man again. 

Hello，everyone!My name is David. In August，my parents and I （take） a five﹣day trip in Shenzhen. The best part of our trip was the visit to Window of the World. It was on our（three） day in the city. 

Window of the World is well﹣known theme park in China. It covers an area of 480，000 ㎡ in Shenzhen. Differenother common parks，Window of the World， as the name shows，is the home to about 130 miniatures（模型）of the world's famous attractions （旅游景点），such as the Eiffel Tower，the Pyramids and the Sydney Opera House. By walking around the park，it seems that you are traveling all over the world. 

The theme park is big that you need to walk for quite a long time to see everything inside. We had some fun games along the way. We also tasted some foods from the（country）. At night，we watched a fireworks showmy favorite part was the Alps Ice and Snow World. It is the （big） indoor ice theme park in China. I tried skiing，and it was really interesting! 

The park also holds different activities for different holidays and festivals. In the summer holiday，the International Beer Festival is popular with tourists. For Chinese National Day，the park will put on a pop music festival. A lot of young people can spend their time （happy） with their friends at the festival.
