The toucan(巨嘴鸟) is a colorful bird. Take a look at these facts about the toucan, and you may learn something you didn't know before！

Toucans can be found in the forests of South America. Their home is in danger. It is advised not to buy rainforest wood and to make sure toucans have their habitat. 

Toucans have a black body about 24 inches long. They have colorful beak(鸟喙). It is 1/3 as long as the bird's body. It may look pretty big, but thankfully, for the toucan their beaks are not too heavy. 

Toucans use their beak to peel and eat different kinds of fruit, which is the kind of food they eat most often. Sometimes toucans will choose insects(昆虫)or the eggs of other birds to eat. Toucans get most of their water from the fruit they eat, so they don't need too much extra water. 

Toucans don't have very big wings(翅膀). It is not easy for them to fly. So, you'll often find them hopping rather than flying through the air. Toucans can be rather lazy birds and they usually like to stay in one place. They don't fly high up in the sky or very far away from home, and enjoy staying in trees with their delicious fruit to eat. 

Wild cats and other larger birds catch toucans in the rainforest. Some snakes may catch smaller toucans but usually are more interested in the toucan's eggs. 

In our daily life, robots are often found to do work that is too dangerous, boring, difficult or dirty. And we often see kids play with toy robots. 

____ There are some important characteristics(特征)that a robot must have. These characteristics might help you to know what is and what is not a robot. It will also help you to decide what you will need to build a machine before it can be considered as a robot. A robot has these important characteristics. 

First of all，your robot would have to be able to feel the environment around it. Give your robot sensors(传感器): light sensors(eyes), touch sensors (hands), hearing sensors(ears) and so on. 

A robot needs to be able to move around its environment. It can move on wheels(轮子), walk on legs or be driven by small engines(发动机). A robot can move either the whole body or just parts of it. 

A robot needs to be able to make itself work. Some robots might make it with sunlight, some might with electricity(电). 

A robot needs some kind of "smarts". A programmer is the person who gives the robot its "smarts". The robot will have to have a certain way to get the program so that it knows what it is and what to do. 

The way we spend our time can be like three "boxes". They are the necessary work box, the voluntary work(义务工作) box and the happiness box. 

Every day, we spend time filling the necessary work box with things, like making money, taking a shower, eating food. We then fill the voluntary box with work. These are things that we do for others, but we may not enjoy them. This box gets filled with work like taking children to classes, cooking family meals. The two boxes are very important. If we don't fill them each day, our family won't run well. 

However, we often forget to fill the third box-the happiness box that we fill with things that make us happy. Is your happiness box sometimes with nothing at the end of the day? Between doing all the necessary and voluntary work, time goes by, and before we know it, it is time for bed. We all have days like that. 

This is why each day we have to try to fill our happiness box. I always fill mine by going to the singing class. And every time I leave the class, I feel much happier. This week, I had the happiness of taking part in a guitar practice. We showed our musical talent and played music for charity(慈善). It was a time of fun, friendship and music-making. At the end of the day, my happiness box was filled to the top. 

 Make sure to fill all the three boxes. Will your activities bring happiness to your life? Or are the other two taking all your time? Try to find ways to keep a balance(平衡). At the end of the day, hopefully we've done all we can to make sure that our happiness box is filled. 

We do eye exercises. We wear sunglasses. But we usually forget another important part of our body-the ears. 

Ears help us hear the world. But many things, such as loud noises, can cause hearing loss(听力丧失).  So how can we protect our ears? Let's take a look together. 

Dry your ears with a towel(毛巾)after swimming or taking a bath. If you feel water in your ear, shake(摇晃)your head a little bit. This can help you get the water out of your ear. 

Also, when the sun is shining, wear some sunscreen(防晒霜)on your ears. During the winter, protect your ears with a hat or a scarf. 

How to clean your ears

Usually. our ears clean themselves. The earwax(耳屎)builds up, dries out and then comes out of the ear along with some dirt(污垢). Don't clean your ears with anything sharp(尖锐), or it can make the earwax go too deep into your ears and hurt them. 

 How to use headphones

 Don't listen to loud music on your headphones(耳机)for a long time. Follow the 60:60 rule: listen to music at 60 percent of your head phones' maximum volume(最大音量)for no more than 60 minutes a day. 

They do a better job of stopping outside noise so you can listen at a lower volume.
